Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

How are you both doing?

Leala20 · 28/07/2020 21:33

@Cleozeta thank you for checking in. It’s one week since transfer tomorrow and I feel as normal as ever. I even think I had more of a bit of a different feeling in the first three days than the last few and if any we should have more symptoms going forward so not sure really. I have reread some of the other posts to see some reference to where I am at and quite a few of us have had more that one or even more than two to really carry till birth so I need to accept this maybe a few cycles. How are you? Any sign of AF? How are you @Cafeambllet ?

Cleozeta · 28/07/2020 22:11

From my recent experiences with BFP's, I had more symptoms on the unsuccessful cycles than I did the successful ones! I don't think I really had any symptoms until after. And even then each time was different.
I wouldn't read too much into it.
When do you test?

AF due for me at the weekend. Weirdly looking forward to it now!

Leala20 · 28/07/2020 23:30

@Cleozeta wow we are so similar, mine is due as well then and the official blood test is Monday, 12 days after but I will test Friday Day 9. This means you will start your medication soon too and then not long to go! Thank you for your reassurance. I think I am trying not to think about it and one day it’s fine but then next day I catch myself so need to remind myself:)

Cleozeta · 29/07/2020 08:51

Friday is not too far away! I so so so so so hope you get a BFP!!

Cafeambllet · 29/07/2020 13:32

Hello ladies! @Leala20 don’t worry about not having any symptoms. I don’t think that you would really have any this early. I just feel a bit bloated and like AF is about to arrives. I’m sure it’s the progesterone...

I have the test tomorrow. I’m am fully expecting it to be negative after having had a high temperature for a couple of days 😔

@Cleozeta what day do you start your meds?

Cleozeta · 29/07/2020 13:44

Good luck @Cafeambllet! Everything crossed for you. I'm sure a temperature won't have made any difference. Let us know how it goes!

I start my meds hopefully at the weekend. Exciting!

What will you guys do if this cycle is unsuccessful? (which it hopefully won't be!)
Would you start a second round straight away or wait a cycle? What is the general protocol with that?

Leala20 · 29/07/2020 21:18

@Cafeambllet good luck tomorrow!
@Cleozeta this is getting real this weekend abd then just countdown from when you start the meds!

@Cafeambllet crossing everything for you!!

Cafeambllet · 30/07/2020 16:48

Hello ladies. BFN for me I’m afraid. I have to wait for my period to come and then call the doctor to discuss the next steps. Hopefully I’ll be able to start again next cycle.

Hope you’re all doing well. I have my fingers crossed for you @Leala20!

tikha · 30/07/2020 21:26

Just did my transfer a day ago with DE at LWC and just wanted to say hi.

@Cafeambllet sorry to hear about your BFN. Hopefully things work out with the next cycle.

Russkispy · 31/07/2020 07:00

@Cafeambllet sorry to hear about BFN. Hope you're ok?! It's disappointing but hopefully next cycle works out for you!!
With my first DE in October was a BFP but 4 days later, it ended in CP 😢 natural is so cruel sometimes! But keep faith!

Russkispy · 31/07/2020 07:01

@tikha hopefully 2ww is kind to you! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Leala20 · 31/07/2020 07:40

@Cafeambllet I am so sorry about your bfn. I hope you’re holding strong. Did they do a blood test or normal pregnancy test? Were given any information if there was any reason?
@tikha welcome to the group and hope you’re taking it easy and the next week and a half goes well. Is it your first as well? I am also with LWC.
I have my official test day Monday but wanted to test today as it’s day 9 but we spoke about it last night and we will leave it to the weekend so if negative I don’t go to work upset and I can prepare myself for Monday. I feel very tired but this maybe the result of stoping CCQ 10 after a few months to help with egg quality. I have no symptoms at all and am really scared to take the test. It’s like it’s better not to know then know. Need to face it though.

tikha · 31/07/2020 11:10

@Leala20 yeah its my first time with LWC. Just liked the fact that we can get goodwill messages from donors and for convenience as well as based in London. Hope the test goes well. Being tired is a good sign but also could be progesterone. Until the test is taken its hard to tell really.
@Russkispy thank you... keeping my fingers crossed. We are in the middle of moving houses etc.. so already occupied with other stuff so hope this makes the 2ww go faster.

Leala20 · 31/07/2020 12:17

@tikha wow a lot if similarities. We moved recently too and also based in London! Wishing all the best and keep it light for the next 2w!

Leala20 · 31/07/2020 20:49

I called the clinic and they said the blood test takes 2-4 days to arrive from Monday. This sounds strange. shouldn’t we have results the same day?

OP posts:
tikha · 31/07/2020 21:08

If they do it routinely it can be delayed or come back next day. If its the weekend then reported on Monday. Can you call the LWC nurse tomorrow and ask them for the result?

Cleozeta · 01/08/2020 08:41

@Cafeambllet so sorry you got BFN, how disappointing :-(
Hopefully you will get to try agaIn next cycle. Did you get a blood test or home test?

@Leala20 good luck with your results. Coming off CQ10 would not cause tiredness, but the meds may. Hopefully it's something else though!! Don't worry too much about symptoms as they are unlikely to appear before a positive test anyway (annoyingly!!)

@tikha good luck! How did you find the process and meds etc?

My new worry is that, as we'll be travelling across the country to Manchester for our treatment in probably around 2 weeks. Typically Manchester has now has some of its covid restrictions tightened. I'm just hoping they don't tighten them any more in the next 2-3 weeks as we'll be travelling up by public transport and staying in a hotel for a week between lining scan and transfer!! If they start restricting movement or closing businesses we could end up scuppered. Ahhh

Cleozeta · 01/08/2020 09:00

Also forgot to mention, I'm moving house too! Just sold ours and had offer agreed on a new one so could happen imminently 😂
Nice to keep busy!!

Cafeambllet · 01/08/2020 09:13

Morning ladies. Thanks for your kind words. We are disappointed but fine. We knew going into this that it might not work first time. We have to go to see the doctor when my AF comes and then we’ll start again.

About the test, mine was a blood test and I got the results a few hours after the test.

@Cleozeta Where I’m based there are loads of cases of Covid at the moment and there are restrictions. It’s a worry. Are you getting a Covid test before treatment?

@Leala20 how are you doing? I have everything crossed for you!

Welcome @tikha!

Leala20 · 01/08/2020 09:32

Hi ladies! I did the first response test and it’s clear negative. At this stage there should be hcg so unfortunately this didn’t work for us. I spoke to the clinic and they still advise to take the blood test and then stop medication and have normal period and cycle and start with next one so September. I didn’t have high expectations as it was our first time but was hopeful as we all are. I am grateful I am able to do another one and try again. I have seen many ladies here have gone through a few trials before being successful so maybe next time. It doesn’t help thinking could I have fine something better, rested more etc as embryo was very good as the embryologist said so maybe this is the 50% chances it just didn’t implant.
@Cleozeta you’re so close, just weeks away:) I wouldn’t worry about Manchester, I think they loosened all added restrictions in Leister after 2 weeks, you just need to be extra careful when around but clinics are probably the safest.
@Cafeambllet we are in the same boat and we support each other. I am not sure now if I should do some extra blood tests or maybe embryo testing next time?

@Cleozeta congratulations on the new house!!

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 01/08/2020 10:50

@Leala20 oh sorry you got BFN too. It won't have been anything you did or didn't do, a lot of it is just chance.
I'm so glad none of us only paid for 1 round! I guess maybe it just takes a few attempts. Fingers crossed for the next round.

@Cafeambllet I think we only get tested at the clinic if we have a high temp. I've heard some clinics are testing everyone (and charging for the tests!) so hopefully that won't be the case. Interestingly where I live has a very low rate of covid currently and seems to be doing well with it, it's just the area we chose to have our treatment! We were going to turn the week into a little mini holiday and take advantage of 'eat out to help out' while we are there, so hopefully we still can!

tikha · 01/08/2020 12:05

@Cleozeta you can still travel for essential work and I dont think it would go to the level of shutting down everything. just keep your distance from everyone as what you dont want is someone getting covid and then you have to isolate for 14 days. If you have to come close then wear a mask. are you working outside the house?

@Leala20 sorry to hear about BFN but hopefully it works better next time :( we got 10 eggs to try and prepare ourselves for lack of success as well...

@Cafeambllet the initial process was ok but it took forever for my lining to go over 7.7 and actually transfer day, in evening i had this really bad cramps, and moved around a lot which settled.. but dont think its worked.. i dont even have any symptoms but i guess have to just wait.
