Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

Leala20 · 28/06/2020 08:48

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

Ah ok, I don't get an early day 3 or 4 scan, just the mid cycle one to check the lining is thick enough. They said between cd10 - 15. It's a bit non specific! Did you get to select an appointment or did they just tell you which day?
Which cd will your transfer be?
Just trying to peice together when things may happen, so I can sort out logistics!
I've awkwardly signed my kids up to things that may be happening when we are away now. Whoops.

Cafeambllet · 19/07/2020 09:32

Morning ladies!

Thanks @Russkispy and @OneDEonenot! It’s really good to hear about your experiences.

@Cleozeta I had my lining scan on the same day as my donor’s egg collection and started progesterone that day too. Because we are doing fresh it all depended on when she was ready and I think I had been taking the oestrogen pills for 8 days.

The clinic called this morning and our embryo is developing really well. There are still two days to go to make it but it’s looking good so fingers crossed we will be able to transfer on Tuesday.

@Leala20 Hope you are doing good! Have you had a blood test yet? I’ve got one tomorrow

Leala20 · 19/07/2020 14:25

@Cleozeta I was just told the dates but they were fine with me so I didn’t ask further. I have my transfer cd 19 but not sure if this is to do with my cycle or their plan.
@Cafeambllet that’s amazing news. Hope all continues to go well! I had some blood and urine tests last week and so did my DH, I don’t think there’s any more blood tests until the pregnancy one 2 weeks after the transfer. Will you be taking any special precautions after the transfer? I heard no baths, no vitamin A, avoid mercury fish and no strenuous sport?

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 19/07/2020 21:38

Thanks, it seems the clinics sometimes do things differently from one another. I don't have any more blood tests after the initial screening tests. Just as well, as can't really travel across the country again just for a blood test!
I'm not aware of any special precautions apart from taking pre conception. I have also been advised to take high dose folic acid, and then calcium and baby aspirin if pregnant.
Did you both have oestrogen patches or were yours pills? Do you have the joy of progesterone injections too?

Cafeambllet · 20/07/2020 19:28

@Leala20 After the transfer they’ve told me to take it easy, no baths, no swimming, no sport and no sex. They didn’t say not to take vitamin A or to avoid mercury in fish but it makes sense. I also have to continue with the medication until I get the results of the pregnancy test.

@Cleozeta I’ve got oestrogen pills and progesterone pessaries. They also prescribed a vitamin complex that has a high dose of folic acid. Haven’t said anything about aspirin but I’m going to ask about it tomorrow.

The transfer is programmed for tomorrow lunchtime. I’m so nervous - trying hard to keep it together and keep positive! Smile

Leala20 · 20/07/2020 20:01

@Cleozeta I am the same medication wise as @cafeamblett

@cafeamblett good luck for tomorrow! You’ll do great. Keeping fingers crossed and will be thinking about you midday!

Cleozeta · 20/07/2020 21:39

I have oestrogen patches, progesterone pessaries and progesterone injections. And I'm sure there were other things in the big box of doom. Weirdly looking forward to starting it all!

@Cafeambllet good luck for tomorrow! Will be thinking of you. Let us know how it goes x

Russkispy · 21/07/2020 13:39

@Cafeambllet hope transfer is going or went well today?! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Cafeambllet · 21/07/2020 19:48

Hi! Thanks for the wishes @Leala20 @Cleozeta @Russkispy! All went well. They were running a bit behind and I had gone a bit overboard with drinking water on the way so I was dying to pee and I had to go to the loo and then quickly drink yet more water 😂 They gave us a usb with a video from the time lapse incubator and we have watched it about 200 times already.
It’s your turn tomorrow isn’t it @Leala20? I hope it goes well!

Russkispy · 21/07/2020 22:29

@Cafeambllet glad it went well! Hope 2 weeks waiting is kind to you 🤞🏻🤞🏻
@Leala20 good luck! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Leala20 · 21/07/2020 22:40

@Cafeambllet well done today!! What a great idea to get a usb. I haven’t heard about it so maybe this differs clinic by clinic.
Thank you all for your wishes for tomorrow.
It hasn’t hit me yet that tomorrow is the day!

Cleozeta · 21/07/2020 23:33

Good luck for tomorrow @Leala20!!

Fingers crossed for both of you that this will be it

Leala20 · 22/07/2020 20:12

Thank you all. It went smooth ( I also drank far more water than ever by noon) and now it’s the waiting. The more I read about it the more complex it all is. It’s amazing how many steps there are now to get to even a bfp and then after to maintain it. How are you @Cafeambllet on your day 2 and when are you testing? @Cleozeta you’re not far behind us!

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 22/07/2020 20:58

Great! Glad it went well. Fingers crossed for you!

So impatient to do mine now. It's looking likely to be almost exactly a month from now for transfer.

Leala20 · 24/07/2020 21:47

How are you ladies? I don’t feel anything, I may have experienced some small cramp this pm but what if it was food related? I know I need to be patient but worried!

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 24/07/2020 23:26

I think sometimes the progesterone can cause mini cramps as that ramps up. Could also be a good thing. The 2ww must be so hard right now!

EarlGreyT · 25/07/2020 12:35

@Leala20 I have never felt anything at all whether or not the cycle has been successful. You really really can’t tell what the outcome will be from either symptoms or the lack of them at this stage so although it’s impossible try as hard as you can not to symptom spot as you’ll drive yourself mad. Good luck.

Leala20 · 25/07/2020 12:52

Thank you so much @Cleozeta. @EarlGreyT I remember you from previous posts and you helped me with some questions. How are you? am so body aware at this moment and just need to stop and see what happens, but hard isn’t it? I am supposed to test 12dpt but I also heard online that I could try earlier, some on the forum mentioned 7 days. How early would you test? It’s my first ever so super sensitive about it st the same time if it was second time I would be probably the same as we all want it to go well so much. I am trying not to stress and overthink but it’s hard.

OP posts:
Russkispy · 25/07/2020 23:33

My doctor in the past, told to test at 9dp5dt and I never tested earlier than that. Try to refrain from testing early. Wishing all the luck! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

EarlGreyT · 26/07/2020 08:24

I was always told to test 9dp5dt (or 11dp3dt In the days of using my own eggs). This was by 3 different clinics and their advice didn’t make a difference whether the test was a urine test at home or a blood test.

I only tested earlier once -the first time. I thought if the early test was negative (It was) it would prepare me so that when my blood test the following day was also negative I wouldn’t be as upset. This did not work, I hung onto the tiny hope that maybe my negative early test was done too early and that the blood test the next day would give a different result. It completely put me off early testing.

Based on my experience I probably wouldn’t test earlier than 9 days post transfer. At this point, you can be sure the result is accurate.

People do test earlier and you can get a positive result as early as about 5 or 6 days post transfer, but I really wouldn’t do it as you’re going to then want to do serial testing and if it’s positive you will torture yourself hoping the test is still positive on your official test day and if it’s negative you’re going to stress even more and torture yourself over whether it’s negative because you’ve tested too early or whether it’s because the cycle has failed. In my opinion it’s really not worth it.

am so body aware at this moment and just need to stop and see what happens, but hard isn’t it? yes it’s impossible. I never found the answer to this. The best I could do was to try to keep busy and to find something to distract myself. Good luck.

Cleozeta · 26/07/2020 09:24

Try to keep busy. Easier said than done I know, but it will help the time pass and stop you dwelling and over thinking.

Cafeambllet · 26/07/2020 10:30

Hello ladies. @Leala20 I don’t have any symptoms either. I am supposed to have my blood test on Thursday which is 9 days post transfer. My DH has made me promise not to test early. It’s hard though!

Unfortunately I have been sick with a fever and a dodgy tummy for the last few days. I’ve been taking paracetamol to control my temperature but I am convinced that this has ruined my chances. DH is trying to talk me round but I’m feeling very negative. I can’t believe that I got sick this of all weeks!

Leala20 · 26/07/2020 12:23

@EarlGreyT thank you. Makes total sense and will just try and put it aside and make a mental note test is only day 9 and day 12 official one with the clinic this way my mind sticks to this expectation! My previous chemical pregnancy was so heart breaking that I need to shield myself.
@Cafeambllet I am so sorry you’re unwell especially now. I hope you’re well looked after and maybe the not feeling well distracts you a bit fromthe waiting. I haven’t heard anything that this or any medication would have adverse effect. Stay positive and focus on getting better, the rest will come, I am also eyeing any tangible changes like are my nipples a bit more sore or that twitch is that it? Then I think again and out if this period I wouldn’t have noticed any twitches like this or slightly fuller breast so this cannot be any signs. And not all of us will experience the average early signs. I feel like what I am writing is helping me as I need this too! Ha:)
@Russkispy thank you for your reply
@Cleozeta thank you and soon for you too!

Cleozeta · 26/07/2020 15:43

@Cafeambllet hope you feel better soon. I'm sure it'll have no effect on conception success. Good luck for Thursday!

Cafeambllet · 26/07/2020 17:14

Thanks @Leala20 @Cleozeta. I am feeling much better today and your support is really helpful.

I’m also really aware of every little thing that my body does in case it’s a sign but I keep reminding myself that the progesterone is probably responsible for any symptoms at the moment as it’s still so early. The waiting is driving me a bit nuts though 😂
