Oh wow @ButtonMooooon not long to go now - so exciting. Best of luck with birth and can't wait to hear your next update x

Many thanks @Geluksvogel I remember reading all previous threads and journeys when I first started my journey - I hoped mine had helped you.

The thread does seem to have gone quiet now.. perhaps it's time for a new thread or maybe it will have a resurge for people going through their journeys now - I hope so.

It's an odd thing - when I tell people how I've had my children people normally are positive ( to my face) and know at least one other person who has done this as well which is great . I still think this is a great place though to find out more about what is involved and for advice from others who are going through/ just gone through the various stages of our journeys . This is also a great place for when it doesn't go as planned.

Little pic of my second angel xx

@ButtonMooooon in two weeks all the stop/start and ups and downs getting to this point will be totally worth it! Good luck with it all.

@OneMoreWish your baby is very cute. I know that this tread and your journey along with Pickle and the others I found inspiring. This thread is good for the highs and lows and saying the things that you cannot say to people in real life.

Update for us: we got a BFP on our first attempt which was a FET. Beta tests however confirmed that we were likely to lose the pregnancy which we did at 5 weeks. We used that “process” to start another FET straight away which resulted in a another BFP last week. HCG beta is much higher this time although waiting for confirmation of 2nd HCG beta today to check progress. We are 5 weeks today. This was the point where it all went wrong last time so I’m a bit nervous but still hopeful this one will stick around a bit longer.

All the best x

OneMoreWish · 22/07/2019 11:16

Oh wow @Geluksvogel that sounds like it's been an emotional time for you- keeping my fingers tightly crossed for you this time and your little bean xxx

Geluksvogel · 22/07/2019 18:23

@OneMoreWish thank you. We got the results back and we are doubling every 35 hrs which is great. We’re very relieved. Still early doors but again we will celebrate every hurdle. Possible early scan towards the end of next week. Main concern is that we had two put back and we are at the high end HCG wise!! Long way to go but will live in hope that all will be well x

OneMoreWish · 22/07/2019 18:50

@Geluksvogel fantastic news. I think someone said on this thread to keep thinking 'today i am pregnant ' to try and push worrying thoughts away. I bled for first 8 weeks in this pregnancy and it didn't stop me wholly from worrying but helped me cope.

Wishing lots of positive thoughts to you and your little bean / beans! Xx

Dandelion3 · 24/07/2019 17:24

Hi 👋 (it's Laura207 - had a name change)
Congrats @Geluksvogel that all sounds really positive and sending lots of positive thoughts for your little bean!
@OneMoreWish That's fantastic news your little one is absolutely gorgeous - is there much of an age gap between your two?
@ButtonMooooon Really not long now for you so exciting.
I'm about 16 weeks pregnant now after our IUI, we're really excited but at the same time I feel like I'm taking everything day by day and still feel i'm getting used to actually being here! This thread was really helpful to me going through this difficult journey and it's really nice to hear some updates x

Pez82 · 30/07/2019 18:53

Wow @OneMoreWish, congratulations! I can't believe how quickly time has gone, I remember when you started ttc for the second time and it seems it was only yesterday! I also remember how brave I thought it was to go for a second one so soon. So glad all is well for you

@ButtonMooooon you're in the final stretch!!! Amazing! I have to say reading the latest updates brought tears to my eyes. I'm so happy to read about the good news

And @Geluksvogel cautious congrats to you too! Sounds very positive, the early weeks of pregnancy are so nerve wracking, it's one hurdle after another but it's so worth it in the end.

My daughter is nearly 20 months now and makes me happier every single day. I think it will be a while until I try for a sibling as it would be very difficult financially to cope with two until my daughter is at school, but it is in my long term plans somehow Smile

Hope everyone else is doing great and best of luck wherever you are in your journeys to parenthood

Pez82 · 30/07/2019 18:54

Oh and congrats @Dandelion3 too! So many good news!

Geluksvogel · 30/07/2019 19:54

Hi @Pez82 glad motherhood is going so well. We are officially 6w1d today. Had an early scan on Sunday at 5w6d after a little panic and our amazing clinic sending us for a scan. We saw a blob with a flickering heartbeat. Was so cool and a massive relief. Still bricking it that when we go back in 10 days in might be gone but I think that’s normal or I am a loon. Unsure which.

ButtonMooooon · 05/08/2019 22:09

Isaac Louis arrived at 1.17am on Monday 5th August weighing 8lb 11oz. It was a traumatic birth but I won't scare you all with the details!! We are all completely smitten, especially his big brother. Keep the faith everyone!! 7 years ago next month since I came off the pill

Oh and the Bounty woman said how much he looks like me which is an even bigger miracle than egg donor IVF lol

@Buttonmooooon Massive congratulations! He is gorgeous xx

I am new to this board as I am only now starting my IUI journey (well from the first day of next period) and feeling very anxious!

I need a few scans early on in cycle, does anyone have any suggestions on excuses I can tell my boss? I don't want to give the real reason just yet.

pantaloonietunes · 08/08/2019 14:31

Hello! I'm new.

Congratulations@ Buttonmooooon! What a beaut. 😍

I'm at the beginning of the journey of donor egg ( embryo adoption) after two mc. I'm 46.
Just had my first scan and getting the tests under way.
Even had to have a mammogram- oy oy oy , very squeezy. But worth it.

Geluksvogel · 08/08/2019 23:11

@ButtonMooooon congratulations. I hope all is going well with the new arrival!

Good luck to those starting their journey. As for excuses for scans and appointments I think DW just said she had to have “some tests” and left it vague but then used the “results or further tests” reason for further scans.

pickle162 · 20/08/2019 21:54

Awe so many babies @ButtonMooooon & @OneMoreWish massive congratulations!!! So so so happy for you 💗 mega cute babies!

@Geluksvogel eeeek congratulations! So pleased you got to see your little bean on the screen .best moment ever! (Well until they pop out!)

My little girl has just turned 16months and she absolutely completes me. Has been the best thing ever. She is such a happy girl and a huge character.

Best of luck to everyone. It's a tough journey but totally worth it xx

ButtonMooooon · 20/08/2019 22:02

Just another update for anyone who remembers me from way back when I started this journey. Yesterday we received a payment from our Consultant's liability insurers, via our solicitor, for all costs we incurred for our initial failed cycle (which we later discovered stood no chance of ever working). Unfortunately we couldn't claim any compensation for stress, loss of time etc as we couldn't prove it would have worked (although Isaac is the proof of that!). Although the payment was without prejudice and no admission of liability etc it feels like they finally accepted they were in the wrong

Hello all

Sorry for the delay in replying, I had forgotten about the sleepless nights and feeling like a zombie.

@Dandelion3 there is 20 months between my two :) hoping they will be close as they get older or at least play with same toys and have a mate at the soft play centres :)
Congratulations on your pregnancy- hope your first trimester went by smoothly without too much sickness

@Pez82 lovely to hear from you- isn't it a great age at the moment. I love that my son is starting to speak so I know what he's thinking and I love his smiles, dancing and hugs. I have absolutely no regrets this is definitely the best choice I've ever made to become a single mum.

@Geluksvogel great news pregnancy is going well. Those early days are a worry but getting to six weeks is a really good place to get to. :) hope you are not feeling too rough xx

@ButtonMooooon huugeee congratulations he looks beautiful yay well done you. Hope you are recovering well and enjoying lots of snuggles xxxxxxx
( good to hear you were compensated I remembered when you went for that first go. Sorry it didn't take everything into consideration but it's good closure for you and some recognition for what happened xx

@Vilanelle Hello, welcome and good luck on your journey!
I think one try I nipped out at lunchtime and second month I actually took a sick day as I just wanted to chill the rest of the day. Not sure if that's the easiest thing to do and others might have other suggestions.

@pantaloonietunes hello, welcome and good luck!
I think there are a few journeys on here with egg donations so I hope they are helpful to you. I've not had a mammogram before but my mum has and I know she mentioned the squeeze! Xx

Hi @pickle162 lovely to hear from people who have used this thread when I did as well as new people. Hasn't the time flown by!! Is it just me or is it too easy to spend a small fortune on little girl clothes eek. And I had put away all my son's old clothes in the hope of reusing them haha

Right I'm going to try and get a little sleep before one of my two wake up again xxxxx

pickle162 · 21/08/2019 02:55

Haha yes clothes and now shoes are wayyyy too cute, especially as I look in the girls and boys section for my little girl 🙈 she has about 50x more clothes than I do . I rarely buy things unless in the sale but still 😬

Geluksvogel · 21/08/2019 16:24

Hi,

@OneMoreWish hope the sleepless nights aren’t too bad 😬 I’m desperate for the baby to arrive safe and sound but I am not looking forward to that bit!!

We are ok. 9 weeks and counting. We have the NIPT test next week. So the next round of anxiety and waiting starts. DW is suffering from morning sickness at the morning. Not just in the morning sickness but pretty much all the time whilst awake. Seems awful. I’m trying to be supportive but not a lot I can really do.

Will keep updating in the event that others read in the future.

All the best to everyone.

Ps. I’m happy that you managed to feel vindicated @ButtonMooooon and hope you feel a sense of closure now.

Chasing · 01/09/2019 22:16

Hi all, we haven’t been very active on the thread but did post a while back and have loved reading everyone’s stories. We wanted to share that we’ve just welcomed our second little one to world. We’ve been really fortunate and have two children from three attempts at unmedicated IUI (our first attempt was unsuccessful).

Congratulations on all the recent new arrivals and good luck to those earlier in the journey.

TinyPaws · 21/09/2019 10:34

Congratulations @ButtonMooooon

Not sure if anyone remembers here, I haven't posted much recently but been here for years. I'm currently pregnant for the 4th time, 9+6, had a successful 8 week scan, hopefully this little one will stick around. I'm with a different clinic on different meds this time.

Bear1980 · 21/09/2019 12:45

Aww congratulations @TinyPaws I hope that this is your time. Looking forward ti hearing updates from you as your pregnancy progresses 🤰

My wee man is 8 weeks tomorrow and time is flying by x

TheAdventureStartsHere · 02/11/2019 10:27

Hi everyone

I’ve (spent days Blush) reading this whole thread from the beginning and have found all the tips and advice so helpful, and you ladies are so lovely! It has been such a boost to see how supportive you are with each other and I really wanted to get involved for our conception journey. I was sad to get to the end of the thread and find that it is not really used any more!? Is anyone still using this thread for IUI at a FC with donor sperm or is there another active thread I should join instead? I’m a first time poster and first time user of MN and would love some friends going through similar things? Thanks 😊

Pez82 · 02/11/2019 19:20

Hi @TheAdventureStartsHere
I was surprised to receive an email notification that there had been some activity on the thread!
If you've read our whole thread (impressive!), you would have ready my story. My daughter is now nearly 2 so I've come a long way since the misplaced donor sperm drama!
This thread has supported me more than I could ever have imagined and in my case it has resulted in some lifelong (I hope!) friendships. I really hope new people can join you on your ttc journey as it definitely was an invaluable source of knowledge and support for many of us.

Best of luck in your journey x

TheAdventureStartsHere · 02/11/2019 20:28

Thanks @Pez82 I have indeed read all about your journey to motherhood and was cheering you and your thread mates on all the way! It actually makes for a rollercoaster read- it should be turned into a book as I didn’t want to stop reading and felt like I completely understood what you were all going through! Congratulations on your success and the birth of your daughter Pez! I know it wasn’t easy getting your happy result! And many congrats to all the other lovely ladies who have had their babies - for the rest of you still TTC I am hoping you all get the happy news you deserve!
My wife and I are starting our journey towards parenthood (fingers crossed 🤞). About us:
Same sex couple (so we are missing the crucial magic potion ingredient!)
Im aged 34 (soon to be 35 early next year) and my wife is 30 and we would both ideally like to carry a pregnancy -so I’m going to TTC first due to being older. We are signed up with a fertility clinic and have both had all of our required tests done already. Results are pretty average for our ages and no apparent medical issues to prevent us conceiving - apart from my BMI which is at 31/32. Luckily our clinic will treat up to BMI 35. We have had 8 vials/straws of donor sperm shipped over to our clinic from America and hope that this will be enough for us to both have a successful pregnancy.
We were recommended IVF by the clinic but have decided to start with a medicated IUI as we don’t have any obvious fertility problems at this stage and I’m pretty terrified of all the needles involved in IVF!
I will be starting on a medicated IUI cycle and I’m getting very nervous as AF is due tomorrow. When AF shows up then I will have to book to go for my baseline scan and begin injections on day 3. I’m terrified of the injections 😱 but I’m hoping that it isn’t going to be too bad.
Sorry for the long post! Anyone got any tips or advice for my first attempt at injections or just IUI in general? Anyone else starting TTC with IUI?
