Started yesterday after breakfast at 105.2kg. I've got a hba1c test today to track it.
So far so Good! Im using exante products as meal replacement and the almond vanilla shake was ok- quite marzipan y. The veg stir fry mixed with the laksa soup mix would have been OK if I'd added a LOT more garlic, chili and ginger. This morning's cherry berry shake was properly nasty- like thick old skool cough mixture. Live and learn.
Any hot tips, companions, advice are welcome.
Wish me luck.

That's a bit shit. Back on track today, so far, though there are Ikea cakes in the kitchen.... hba1c tomorrow so let's hope the championship Quality Street Eating hasnt fucked up the diabetes
Go to look at the long game: 8 more weeks of effort and I can bimble along happily for ever.

Oh god. In two months I gained a stone. At least. Back with a vengeance. Took 6 tubs of quality street and roses to the food bank yesterday along with 4 boxes of biscuits.

MrsWooster · 03/01/2018 23:22

Bloody hell, buxton, well done on the food bank idea. QS were my nemesis too but I ate them all. No more tho. One weetabix w seeds, Thai chicken soup for dinner and then, just when it was going well, two small green Ikea cakes, two mugs of cocoa- not hot choc, in my defence, and two slices of Christmas cake. It's nearly all gone now tho, and I DIDNT eat four other Ikea cakes...

Better eating for the last two days but still finishing of the Xmas goodies. Last hunk of cake eaten last night. I seem to do fine until about 8.30pm then have a imbibing. Might try cleaning my teeth about then and trying to demarcate a Not Eating Time. Hba1c yesterday, so f2f that I haven't messed up the diabetes...

OP posts:
MrsWooster · 05/01/2018 08:33

Wtf is f2f?! Fx/ fingers crossed.

I hate QS. Yet could still demolish the best part of a tub. If I’m going to eat sugar and fat, then I ought to have something that tastes good. (Like Lindt balls!)
Been totally back on the plan for 3 days and feel so much better. I swear I had permanent stomach ache from eating all that crap over Christmas.
Just had a tray of roasted courgettes toms and aubergine slices. Swimming half a mile a day, and trying to do that 5-6 times a week. Had a cheeky weigh on the scales and have lost 4-5 lb. reckon it will take me a month to lose another stone and be back at pre holiday(then)Christmas weight!

Buxtonstill · 05/01/2018 17:32

Please put the results of your hba1c on here. Fingers crossed for you.

MrsWooster · 07/01/2018 23:39

96.4kg.
97.9kg yesterday, which gave me a chill; my scales weigh 2kg heavy so it looked on the brink of three figures. I was not a happy bunny.
I've reduced breakfast, working on cutting back on the sugar- two mini mince pies left and all Ikea cakes gone now... - and generally trying to get back in the zone. I'll give it a week and, if no steady decline, give it a blast on the shakes again. All to play for with the hba1c results too...

Are you fighting a cold/cough at the moment? Sometimes your body hangs on to water when its fighting a virus?

I am definitely under the weather but not fighting off the last mince pies is more of a problem... I am being a dick, and not committing to this- healthy breakfast, no snack, veg soup lunch, no snack... then macdona.ds for tea, cocoa in the evening then the cursed mince pies just to add insult to injury.

I have this chest infection/laryngitis thing at the moment, at my blood sugar is running high, between 8-10 all day. Normally it is around 5/6.

Weetabix and seeds, goats cheese salad, half a carton of carrot soup. All very well but just got my hba1c... 49. Fuck fuck fuck. I am not completely surprised as I went fucking bonkers over Christmas but it's still a sod. My first thought was to go back up to 3 metformin but if i do, i wont know how much of any possible progress is pancreatic fat and how much is medicine so I will stick to 2 x 500mg and have a proper go. Back to square 1 but ive done it before and i can do it again.

Weetabix and tbsp of seeds, mushroom omelette and peas, veg tom yum soup. About to have a square of green and blacks. I really hope low cal food works and I don't have to go back on the shakes...

Not completely surprising as I developed a weird stress headache type thing, whereby all the skin on my head, and my hair, and my jaw are fiercely sore so I slept from 830 on Sunday til 3pm today and would be there now if I hadn't had to do school run and swimming lessons. Strangest feeling - like my head is covered in painful boils.. maybe it is?? Not Eating gets the weight off tho so what the hell.

Turns out it's cellulitis, so more days of rest and plenty of liquids. If i can stay off the choc while recuperating, it should be a winner.

Slightly anomalous as had a Pizza Express birthday tea last night but sadly I have been floored by the illness over a few days, so few calories in have been matched by few calories out.
I've been monitoring bs, as dc said It would likely be a bit high with the infection and, generally speaking , it has been ok: 125-135 (whatever that is in real money), showing green on the tracker. He worried me because, when I said the recent hba1c was a blip after the christmas ridiculousness, he very kindly scoffed and said it was in line with the others and that it was more likely that the previous 39 level was a blip... I was feeling too weedy to enter a discussion and remind him that it followed my Newcastle diet so I need to buckle Down and get the next one, in March, back down into safely non-diabetic levels.

Bit strange.. haven't been eating very much, albeit not exercising much either. Certify not enough gluttony to justify adding 3kg

Haven't been moving much whilst I'll and, after more walking about yesterday, realised that my bowels clearly haven't been moving much either! My blood sugar hasnt been so good though... up hovering around 145-150, so about 8+ which isn't good enough.
