Starting the Newcastle Diet...

Started yesterday after breakfast at 105.2kg. I've got a hba1c test today to track it.
So far so Good! Im using exante products as meal replacement and the almond vanilla shake was ok- quite marzipan y. The veg stir fry mixed with the laksa soup mix would have been OK if I'd added a LOT more garlic, chili and ginger. This morning's cherry berry shake was properly nasty- like thick old skool cough mixture. Live and learn.
Any hot tips, companions, advice are welcome.
Wish me luck.

So I have celebrated this dramatic loss with a double weetabix breakfast, with mixed seeds which have broken another tooth. Kids party with the fabulous wheeze of feeding the grown ups with pastries and general loveliness, followed by a delicious beef stew, tho I say so myself, which necessitated eating about 12 portions. Then d's, who is clearly a changing, said the party-bag-birthday cake with icecream pudding was TOO SWEET. I checked and checked again and it seemed fine.
Try again tomorrow.

Oh shit, Hotel chocolat is 20 feet from my office. I should have gone for a walk without my purse...

Well that's fucking strange: 2 kilos off and b.s. down to 113, where units been running at 125ish. For the last three days, i've have been eating like two pigs and all the wrong stuff. I am a stranger to the toilet too. There will be some arcane reason, no doubt, but I don't think this is a sensible sustainable regime...

Poppedstraight back up to 95.1 after the previous post and have been there ever since. Some improvement in the extreme-comfort-eating competition but not enough. Yet.

Oh fucksy. Despite no poo, this is alarming. I will never 'forgive' myself if I let this go to shit now.

Slightly better. More water, less crap food. I am exercising a lot due to the hellhound - at least 10000 steps a day, which is more than the previous 5000 average. I. Can. Do. This.

fell foul of mouldy giants toenails sausage rolls and ancient mummies pastry hot dogs last night, though the swamp slime green smoothy might have helped matters 'downstairs'.

meh. No outrageous falls from grace. I need to see these days as normal, instead of being diet-y. Normal is not cake and biscuits.

I decided not to try the Newcastle Diet as it's a bit too extreme as I only really need to lose about a stone.

I definitely think that your body has a set weight it tries to return to no matter what you do. Pre kids, my set weight was just over 9 stone. I used to fluctuate up to lbs either side of that but always returned to that.

Post kids, my set weight seems to be 11 stone 4lbs. I was lighter than that last year but the weight has crept back to there. I put in weight in the summer and went up to 11 stone 12 lbs but have lost that and am now plateauing at 11 stone 4lbs.

Maybe your body thinks it should be 94 kgs? I don't know how you can reset you'd set weight. I wish evidence could.

Dieting is so depressing.

Fuck. I am not eating vast quantities but there has definitely been to much refined sugar- cakes and biscuits. I've got to hold the mindset that I have at this time of day for the slump times of mid morning, late afternoon and evening. Basically all the times that I am not eating an actual meal.

1st day of holiday for me. 30 hours travelling and we didn’t stop eating. I swam a mile this morning, and going to fast for a couple of days. My blood sugar is still under control, proving the Newcastle diet does work, but I have put on 9lb in the last three weeks after eating food I shouldn’t have. On holiday for a month, hopefully can swim that off!

Buxtonstill · 06/11/2017 04:09

I have bought a months supply of shakes with me, enough for breakfast and dinner. I shall have a tuna/egg salas tonight. Husband is stuffing himself with pain au chocolat and crossaint for brekkie, and deep fried samosas and pakora for lunch. I go swimming whilst he feasts...

Horrible creeping rise...
God buxton you are made of tough stuff if you can watch him eating that and not succumb! Make your one meal GORGEOUS! Writing tht, I realised that watching others eat nice stuff feeds into my "Not fair" 'driver's which shows I still haven't really accepted that not fair is the way it is and THAT IS OK - I need to nod, smile, and think, yep, not fair, and so it goes. I get to do / have / be other things that other people think is not fair. All very well writing that at breakfast time!

I am having a bloody great steak tonight with salad. Probably 2000 calories, but none of it sugar! I got down to 17:2 .5. Now up to 17:12. I do not want to go into the bloody 18’s again. At least if I can get to 16 1/2 before Christmas, the mountain I will eat then won’t be so damaging(dreadful bloody attitude I know!)

MrsWooster · 06/11/2017 20:48

I hope it was lovely!

That marbling! You could cut it with a teaspoon! He had a huge hunk of French bread with his, but luckily the steak and salad filled me up. Hope you have a good day! Remember to drink loads of water.it really does help th8ngs move along!

Do NOT try and make a homemade smoothie with an apple, a carrot and a couple of broccoli florets, adding water to loosen it when it turns to slurry. It was like eating raw virtue.

OP posts:
Buxtonstill · 11/11/2017 14:34

Just eat an apple, and a carrot. Will keep you fuller for longer, as your body has to process the fibre. Making a smoothie will lessen the amount of fibre. I don’t suggest you munch on raw broccoli florets however...

I am bored. I think the only way is some sort of kickstart: either a Binge tempting but no diet merit at all or a restart proper vlcd for a few days. I just keep making excuses as to why i cant start today because...or tomorrow because...
