The rolling Football thread (2012-2013)

The rolling Football thread for Season '12-13 might as well start off with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread:

There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

  1. Which team you support.
  2. Which team(s) you loathe.
  3. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/(el clasico?)/(Euro 2012?)

On BBC - Anfield, not so much fortress, more gift shop.

SomeTiggyPudding · 15/12/2012 18:30

I think you'll find that Liverpool won the statistics!

77% possession.
27 shots compared with 11.
etc.
Sad

Pan · 16/12/2012 08:51

ok. More a gift shop, with some very hard-working staff.Smile

Pan · 20/12/2012 20:33

Tasty European nights coming up? Read that the end of the world tomorrow has been postponed, as God wants to see Man U v Real Madrid.

BelfastBloke · 21/12/2012 16:30

I thought God played for Real Madrid?

OP posts:
Pan · 21/12/2012 17:44

No, that's just one of the angels. God plays for Barcelona.

GiveMeSomeSpace · 22/12/2012 09:41

Sorry guys - I've been off line for a few months. Only just resurfaced. I'm still here.

Hi, GiveMeSomeSpace.

I am mourning the loss of Christmas footy, as Arsenal v WestHam has been called off due to the Boxing Day tube strike.

Usually at Christmas me, my mates, and the elderly racists who sit behind us, all pass around whiskeys. S'nice.

OP posts:
KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/12/2012 10:24

That's rubbish!!
Man City for us ......,.

Pan · 27/12/2012 11:47

Well that was all very entertaining, wasn't it? SAF - you've gotta love him, haven't you?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/12/2012 11:50

Christmas Party with Marty!

Pan · 29/12/2012 13:12

And doing pretty well against Tottingham. What's going right??

fwiw there was a really good piece on R5 Live last night on the work of the Hillsborough Panel, chaired by the Bishop of Liverpool, pointing up how at a time when police, politicians, journalists, judges cannot be trusted, the Church steps in, and could this be a blueprint.

ManU - it'd be really nice to totally slaughter a team some time....

Pan · 29/12/2012 15:34

Woops.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 29/12/2012 16:30

Balls! Need Arsenal to slaughter that wee North East team now !

KenDoddsDadsDog · 29/12/2012 19:34

7th Heaven !

BelfastBloke · 30/12/2012 06:15

Now that was delicious. Naturally it was that game I let my friends have my tickets. But I still saw it in the pub. Theo can definitely play as a striker, and as the Guardian said, Thierry Henry should sue him for copyright over that first goal. I actually think that signing Henry for a few months, like last year, would strengthen Theo's desire to stay at Arsenal. Henry loves the club so much, and Theo admires Henry so much, that it could help.

See what depths I've sunk to over our best players leaving; how pathetic I've become?

OP posts:
KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/12/2012 20:18

Walcott's goal was unreal. Pure instinct to keep going . Loved it.

Pan · 30/12/2012 20:29

Which sort of brings us to the speedo-wearing Bale. At 6 foot of muscle and bone, having the slightest of 'contact' does not warrant falling to the floor.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/12/2012 23:09

He went down like a sack of spuds against Gardner - says it it to 'prevent injury'
On a lighter note, looks like Ba is going to Chelsea. Another issue for that wee NE club.

DanFmDorking · 03/01/2013 18:03

Hands up those hoping that Demba Ba would sign for Swansea, so when he scores, thousands of Welshmen would scream

BAAAAAAAAAAAA.

BelfastBloke · 04/01/2013 07:11

lol

Grin I want hom to sign for us and score our derby day winner. I have had massive fun at work though talking to all of my colleagues about their "wee north east team"
Pan · 05/01/2013 13:34

I am assuming GiveMeSomeSpace is otherwise engaged today.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/01/2013 15:27

I'm not Grin
