But Peter Greenaway is an artist expat. Surely anyone enjoying A Zed and Two Noughts would agree!

Marina · 20/09/2005 10:10

bp, fair point. Big was a really charming film, as was Splash. But latterly! I think I prefer the CGI version of him with the dead eyes in that weird Polar Express...

expatinscotland · 20/09/2005 10:11

Artist, my ass! He's a demented twit who should be locked up. Worthless piece of s*(t. I saw Two Noughts and a Zed whilst a stoned university student and it turned me off so much I left.

Marina · 20/09/2005 10:12

He may not be in prison but he doesn't seem to get the work these days!
I did like Prospero's Books though.

bakedpotato · 20/09/2005 10:18

Drowning by Numbers, that was a bit more than watchable too

TinyGang · 20/09/2005 10:18

Moulin Rouge. Everyone I know loved this film and I so wanted to see it, but it just bombed for me.

wartybosoms · 20/09/2005 10:21

Fight Club - dross

beetle73 · 20/09/2005 10:22

Sorry TG, I'm with everyone you know on Moulin Rouge. But I liked Romeo & Juliet even more.

Marina · 20/09/2005 10:22

oh, wartybosoms, did you pay MONEY to see it?

wartybosoms · 20/09/2005 10:23

I watched about 10 minutes of Moulin cos everyone said how great it was, how wrong they were, I agree its catpoo!

wartybosoms · 20/09/2005 10:25

Nah! Don't frequent cinemas anymore, if I want a burger (and I don't) I'd go to MacDonalds (yuk)! I don't use box office either I wait for them to come on the usual Sky channels

expatinscotland · 20/09/2005 10:26

I'd rather watch old Margaret Thatcher speeches than anything of Peter Greenway's.

Marina · 20/09/2005 10:32

I wish I had seen Moulin Rouge in a BIG cinema with a good sound system. You can tell Baz Luhrmann's theatrical roots, his wonderful films are too compressed on TV...

foxinsocks · 20/09/2005 10:36

I used to think Titanic was the worst film ever till I saw Love Actually - I don't think I've ever seen such a bad script/acting. I actually had to stop watching it was so bad - what I can't understand is why and how it did so well.

Marina · 20/09/2005 10:40

Richard Curtis has LOADS of influential friends in the UK (I think he is probably a nice enough chap, it's just his films stink) and gets astonishingly favourable press for his work. It's like everyone dons rose-tinted specs whenever his name is mentioned. Anyone who gives Hugh Grant work on a regular basis is clearly a half-wit, for starters. The man has been pants since Maurice.

foxinsocks · 20/09/2005 10:46

yes I suppose it (theoretically!) had a big bill cast - even on imb.com it actually has a rating of 7.8! But it was truly dire! It is amazing what a bit of influence can do though (it's like those Dan Brown books - I just can't see the attraction - but all it took was a bit of good publicity and the man's a millionaire).

lou33 · 20/09/2005 12:40

Richard Curtis = mawkish shite

speedymama · 20/09/2005 13:38

Natural Born Killers

never again will I subject myself to this pile of tosh.

Spoo · 20/09/2005 13:41

Kill Bill

wysiwyg · 24/09/2005 23:01

Agree with Girl with a pearl earring - most slow plot ever, waiting for something to happen, then "fin".

Gobbledigook · 24/09/2005 23:21

Closer! Just watched it. Crap.

expatinscotland · 24/09/2005 23:23

Aw, GDG! Wish I could've warned you in time. Closer was pants.
