OP posts:
weesaidie · 19/09/2005 23:12

oh, I liked Sideways and some others mentioned!

Agree with Tabs about The English Patient though. Yawn.

bettythebuilder · 19/09/2005 23:13

Xanado-didn't see the film but the theme tune will always stick in my mind. Xanadoo-oo

JoolsToo · 19/09/2005 23:13

Oh yes - the Girl with the Pearl Ear-ring - was there any dialogue?

Casino - crap

puff · 19/09/2005 23:26

Eyes Wide Shut was utter bollocks.

moozoboozo · 19/09/2005 23:37

Misery was the biggest pile of shite I have ever seen.

But the biggest load of bollocks was Guest House Paradiso m(the Bottom one) That was about as funnny as being in thumbscrews.

steffee · 19/09/2005 23:55

Has anyone mentioned Open Water yet?

MarsLady · 20/09/2005 00:00

I never went to see Open Water. I kept asking people how long anyone could be expected to watch a couple tread water, dodge a couple of sharks, fall asleep, almost drown, wake again and dodge a couple more sharks.

No one answered me, so I didn't go! lmao

MarsLady · 20/09/2005 00:01

hope I didn't spoil the plot for anyone!

serenity · 20/09/2005 00:04

AI.

Hate it, I was so angry that I wasted hours of my life watching it and that I bought it. Depressing miserable defeatist shite (and I'm more mellow about it now than after I sat through it!)

Grease 2 on the other hand is so bad that it's good

beetle73 · 20/09/2005 09:29

Eyes Wide Shut - rubbish
English Patient - how many sand dunes??
French film called Smoking/No Smoking - only film i've ever walked out of
Damage - laughable, but took itself rather seriously
9 Mile - pants.

harpsichordcarrier · 20/09/2005 09:33

Damage! O that was a truly, truly terrible film. actually paid MONEY to see that.
the Bodyguard?

compo · 20/09/2005 09:35

Stargate
Vanilla Sky

Marina · 20/09/2005 09:47

Xanadu pph, good job I'm sitting here on an empty stomach you know...what a turkey.
There are so many cacky low and high budget British films, where do you start...
Very Annie Mary, Guest House Paradiso, Blame it on the bellboy, Twin Town, Janice Beard 45wpm...
I think I'm in a minority on here as I tend not to see most of the big budget American releases, because I suspect I won't enjoy them and because I can never get a babysitter .
But I just know I'd hate and loathe a lot of the ones already mentioned.
And as Lou will know I despise Richard Curtis. All his stuff is meretricious pap. I even hated the well-intentioned Girl in the Cafe.

Marina · 20/09/2005 09:48

The one I feel "guilty" about hating though is Truly Madly Deeply. Urgh.

beetle73 · 20/09/2005 09:51

And I hated that one with Richard E Grant about the single dad.

bakedpotato · 20/09/2005 09:53

Bitter Moon
White Hunter Black Heart
Forrest Gump

Marina · 20/09/2005 09:54

Oh God yes Beetle, Thingy and Sarah. Vile.

And what about the "hilarious" portrait of British life in Three Men and a Little Lady

fairyfly · 20/09/2005 09:54

Coyote Ugly

Marina · 20/09/2005 09:55

Forrest Gump - in fact, Robert Zemeckis is a bit of a blot on civilisation. As is Tom Hanks.

You've Got Nausea springs to mind. Tedious in Seattle...

Marina · 20/09/2005 09:56

Ha ha, ff, and that reminds me of Verhoeven's meisterwork Show Girls, starring the 1990's riposte to Greta Garbo, Elizabeth Berkley!

beetle73 · 20/09/2005 10:00

Forrest Gump? Interesting. I didn't want to like it, but found that I did.
But speaking of Tom Hanks - Saving Private Ryan was a waste of my life (and I was an idle layabout backpacker at the time, so that's saying something.)

QueenOfQuotes · 20/09/2005 10:02

I liked Forrest Gump too

Life if like a box of chocolates..........

The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.

The Thought Police should throw the fella who thought this schlock in jail for life for being so warped.

bakedpotato · 20/09/2005 10:08

(Marina, come come, Tom Hanks was delightful in Big. And I still have a soft spot for Splash)
