Anyone doing this?
For those who don't know it's a challenge to write 50k words in a month. This year it starts on 1st November.

ROFL at the covert writing, Elibean. I won't ask whether it involves multi-tasking.

Elibean · 14/11/2008 14:14

HC, you're on.

Be warned, when I eat chocolate I eat chocolate

Coppertop I won't answer!

Bumperlicious · 16/11/2008 10:35

Hello, how are you all doing. I have hit my halfway mark and DD is in bed so I should really get on a write.

I am going for a NaNo party with a bunch of people from my work who I have never met tonight

This week has been stressful. I was up at 5 yesterday stressing about all the stuff I had to do this weekend, and still only managed 500 words before DD woke up! I am mostly enjoying this though and love the sense of achievement. There is no way I'm going to lose this, even if I have to stay up all night on the 29th!

Hope you are all doing ok. I think if you don't think you are going to make the 50K target at all, set yourself a smaller target and aim for that, that way you'll still benefit from the motivation.

Elibean · 16/11/2008 10:49

Enjoy the party, Bump! Sounds like you're doing very well, keep at it.

I set myself a smaller target from the very beginnig, was briefly thrown by the 'contract' we were handed at my NaNo course, then re-wrote it to suit my life - I'll be very happy with 20,000.

To be honest, I think the quality of what I['m writing is more Author's Notes than Novel, but thats fine. I can use it later, and have enrolled for a Developing your Novel course staring in January

We'll be moving house then, mind you

HC, do you have your chocolate and remote control at the ready? I am going to have to nap at lunchtime, having been up most of the night with coughing kids, but other than that am going to grab what words I can today!

coppertop · 19/11/2008 10:05

How's everyone getting on?

I'm a bit behind but should get to 30k sometime today.

And if Kerrymum is lurking, well done on your total. You're doing brilliantly!

Litchick · 19/11/2008 10:13

I'm on 12.5k which is not on target but am pleased that am making a substantial start on the book. That said it's bloody rough and is gonna need a lot of polish before it goes out.

I'm on about 7,000 which is also a lot more than I thought I could do.

Its totally rough - but much better, for me, to do large amount of rough than small amount of polished. And I'm learning a fair bit.

Its taken a nose-dive in last few days because we had some bad news on Monday, and its thrown my motivation/energy somewhat...hopefully will pick up again by end of week.

Bumperlicious · 25/11/2008 21:28

I won! I won! 50,121. Whoop whoop

Congratulations, Bumper!

Elibean - Sorry to hear you've had some bad news. I hope things are okay for you. xx

I'm still just about hanging in there. I'm up to 41k so far and will hopefully finish by Sunday if dd the PITA will leave me alone for five minutes.

Kerrymum's doing brilliantly still. Well done KM if you're lurking.

Elibean · 27/11/2008 17:59

Well done Bumper and Coppertop and Kerrymum, stars the lot of you

Psycho, the Golden Notebook deserves some applause as well

Thanks, Copper, I'm ok - our house sale collapsed and all plans scuppered at 11th hour, but nothing life-threatening! Have had 2yr old birthday party, endless viruses and 5th birthday looming so have continued at slow speed but.....have continued, so feel good. I have a week left, on my NaNo course (it goes from 4th to 4th instead) but at 9000 words or so I am nowhere near official target.

Have learnt loads though, and booked on to Developing your Novel course for next term, so nothing lost much gained

coppertop · 30/11/2008 20:43

I finished my NaNo last night.

Huge congratulations to you too, Kerrymum.
