Bumperlicious · 29/10/2008 19:54

Ok, I really am doing it this year! I've found someone who is running a local group so if nothing else I get to make some new friends. Eeeek! How the crap am I going to find time?!

Otterchocdog · 30/10/2008 10:35

I've signed up for this this year. Hopefully having a daily wordcount target with quell the destructive perfectionist within me.

spicemonster · 30/10/2008 10:40

I've signed up already. Not entirely sure how I'm going to do it but it'll get me off my arse and writing again which is the main objective.

Elibean · 30/10/2008 15:20

Have gone from enthusiasm to ultra cold feet, someone tell me its ok to do it even if you only get 3000 words done

Laugs · 30/10/2008 17:33

I'm going to do it too. I'm quite excited actually! And a wee bit nervous.

Anyone who's done it before - did you stick to the daily 1600ish or do it in fits and starts?

I don't even have a plot yet, just two vague characters...

zippitippitoes · 30/10/2008 17:40

i am away with bf for the weekend lol

so that isn't a very good start

i have no clue what i am going to write

i have also agreed to send him the ...hahahaha..novel...and al;l my ideas seem to revolve around my own life which might prov e to be a really bad move relationship wise

far too revealing even if dressed up as a novel

and i didnt realise how much writing it was till that email came through

I can't start this weekend either as it's DD's birthday on Sun and have family staying. So by Monday we'll have 5,000 words to write!

coppertop · 30/10/2008 22:04

Laugs - The first year I did it I made myself stick to the daily word limit. The second year I had days where I didn't do anything at all. I think at one point I was probably about 10,000 words behind where I should've been. In a weird way that was also the time when I most enjoyed it. The pep talk e-mails also really helped and I was eventually able to catch up and reach 50,000 words in time.

For anyone who doesn't have any ideas yet about what to write, the Adopt A Plot section gave me a couple of ideas about what to do with mine.

zippitippitoes · 30/10/2008 22:18

i think my plot might have to centre round the fact that out of my 4 proper relationships i am currently being texted by my first bf emailed by my current bf and phoned by exh

Saturn74 · 30/10/2008 22:19

I will Kerry.
Can't post my NaNoWriMo username here, as it is my RL name (doh!).

It's in the forums. They can be completely addictive really useful when you get stuck. NaNoWriMoAteMySoul is the one I lurk on most.

I've got the unimaginative name of copperdragon on there if anyone wants to add me.

coppertop · 30/10/2008 22:23

The word counter thing appears a few days before the end and then you just cut and paste the lot into it.

zippitippitoes · 30/10/2008 22:26

ok too thick how do i lok at profiles and make buddies

zippitippitoes · 30/10/2008 22:28

Usually they have an author search thing on there. At the moment I think the only way we can get around it is to post on a forum and let other people know where. There's a place on the forums where you can set up your own group, so we could start a MN group?

It would mean though that people might be able to work out HC's real name from looking at the MN group on there though IYSWIM?

coppertop · 30/10/2008 22:32

You can set up your own group here if you want to?

Bumperlicious · 30/10/2008 22:33

Would it be easier to just keep a thread on here?

Laugs · 31/10/2008 09:29

Kerry, its about 1666 words a day if you do the same amount each day.

In my normal work that would take at least three hours, and that's when I know what I'm writing about! But I suppose the idea is just to go for it, not consider your words too much.

I haven't looked at the website in much detail yet. Do we have to show other people our stories? That's the bit I'm scared of!
