Who is in?

I have my novel planned out, the whole thing is in my head, I just need to get it down. I have so many other WIP, I need to really work at this novel. I have no excuse other than my own self sabotage Sad

How much does everyone aim to write per day? I'm thinking 2000 words. Gulp.

Well done everyone and hope the kids are feeling better Coodle. Just having a coffee and pondering whether to kill a character or put him into a coma, which is more fun than planning what's for supper!

Witchend · 02/11/2018 09:16

Friday's my day off, so I'm hoping to get a lot done today. I should really be doing some housework... but oh well!

CoodleMoodle · 02/11/2018 11:35

Managed 1667 last night in the end! And DD has gone to school so I've only got DS to contend with. He's currently asleep on me so typing is tricky but I want to get some done now in case he's a pain later.

Those of you who have written loads, keep that up! It's handy when you get halfway and start flagging, or if real life gets in the way. A buffer always helps.

cathyandclare · 02/11/2018 14:43

It's like pulling teeth today. I knocked off an article for work in double-quick time and since then I've been NaNoWriMoing slooooooowly. Every time I count the words, they've gone up a hundred or so. I don't want to have the halfway flag on day two.

cathyandclare · 02/11/2018 18:09

Crawled my way to 1935. I stopped in the middle of a scene so that it's easier to get going tomorrow. It's a nifty trick I found in one of the many how-to-write-a-novel books that I use to help me put off actually doing any writing.

Off to watch Bohemian Rhapsody now. Happy writing.

directsunlight · 02/11/2018 22:37

Only managed 500-odd tonight, writing longhand. But it was a short scene and it's finished, so I call it a win.

TheHatOfDoom · 03/11/2018 09:05

I currently have about 1700 words in my notebook. I’d like to get up to (and ideally past) par today. I’m also switching to typing.

Hellomatey001 · 03/11/2018 10:45

Started late on 02/11 and only got to 675 words. But that's 675 more than in October!

idlenook · 03/11/2018 11:51

Hi everyone. Off to a slow start here, as it's half term and we're visiting in-laws so I can't really slope off while the kids are in bed -- plus on call as it is looking like my lovely little sister is going to be induced imminently. But did manage to sneak an hour in a coffee shop yesterday with excuse of nipping out to get a present for a birthday party we've been invited to at the last minute, so have handwritten around 2000 words which is a start ;)

cathyandclare · 03/11/2018 14:44

Very impressed at 2000 words in an hour or so. I'm still trudging steadily along, I'd like to blame it on my slow typing but it's probably my slow brain.

I stopped after 1760 today, fewer words but I enjoyed writing them and I'm looking forward to continuing the story tomorrow.

BiglyBadgers · 03/11/2018 17:17

I've had a better day today then I thought I would and am now at around 7750 hand written so a bit of an estimate.

Hope your sister is doing OK idlenook!

Annandale · 03/11/2018 23:17

It's still nowhere near a novel, more of a blart. But it's up to over 4,300 words. Am just going to keep writing.

directsunlight · 04/11/2018 07:22

Tiny word count yesterday, kept getting interrupted. :/ But I have more words down than I did the day before, so there's that!

BiglyBadgers · 04/11/2018 14:02

Keep on writing, keep on writing! Everything can be fixed in the edit, as they say. Grin

I hit 10k today! Very pleased. I might just do a little happy dance right now.

elfycat · 04/11/2018 17:07

Hi. I'm late to the party, but I'm in and typing (went to a write-in today and caught up a bit, though still a bit behind overall)

CoodleMoodle · 04/11/2018 21:07

Hit 6668 today! That's an average of 1667 per day, so I'm doing okay so far. Still don't feel like anything is happening in the story, but then I never do until I get a few days in.

Keep writing everyone! Hope it's going well for you all.

Annandale · 04/11/2018 22:04

Just over 6500. Something happened today which I wrote about, it all poured out... I still think it's just confessional writing but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Nuffaluff · 04/11/2018 22:05

Wrote my first 1000 today! Better than nothing.

cathyandclare · 05/11/2018 07:13

Lots of distractions yesterday, so I just managed a few hundred words. However the joys of the peri/menopause woke me up at 4 am and I've managed to get over 8000. After all the introductory preamble I've reached a part of the plot that feels exciting to me, so I'm hoping to get to 10k today.

BiglyBadgers · 05/11/2018 19:25

Hey guys. I've done 1k so far today taking me up to 12500 words.

My plan has now completely collapsed and I am now in full pantsing mode.

Annandale · 05/11/2018 22:40

Up to 8300. I'm keeping up with my own goal, anyway Smile

directsunlight · 06/11/2018 03:48

Finished a scene last night, came in just under 1k.

I'm probably not going to "win" this, but I'm writing a lot more consistently now, and it's getting easier to keep going, so I'm happy with that. In order to finish the novel I need to write about 150k, so I'm in it for the long haul. I'm giving myself six months.

cathyandclare · 06/11/2018 08:53

Well doge everyone koko :) How do you all resist the urge to go back and edit? I was lying in bed last night stressing that it's taken too long to cut to the chase and there's too much description of pretty unimportant characters. I'm itching to delete!

Doobydoobeedoo · 06/11/2018 11:54

I've had too many distractions this week so I'm quite a way behind.

I'm up to about 1000 words in total but will be trying to catch up somewhere along the way.

Witchend · 06/11/2018 13:53

Over 10k so I'm feeling ahead at present.
I resist going to edit as that might reduce my word count. Grin
