He's just been found guilty of historical child sexual offences. I'm so glad that justice has been served for the two victims. His vile wife has also been found guilty in her trial of the facts. So many thought they would both be cleared because of who they are.

What was meant by the headline 'Lady Donaldson was aware of her husband's sexual interest in young girls'? I read it in the BT but the article was paywalled.

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 22/06/2026 17:11

Considering his close political and personal relationships with Powell and Molyneux I can't say I'm surprised.

What a vile man, sadly Ive a feeling he'll have a cushy time in prison. The establishment looks after their own.

As for his wife. Makes me wish I still believed in God and they'd eventually get what they deserved.

FeetZelet · 22/06/2026 18:13

Came on here to hopefully find a thread discussing this result today and commune with like minded people, I am just so relieved those as they were young girls were believed and these two abusers have have their so called reputations destroyed as a matter of public record. What a vile man, started abusing in his 20s! Why is none of this surprising with men in position of power and supposed probity. The smug head on him for decades in public when he was actively abusing. Hopefully that the two women can take some comfort from justice being delivered and live happy lives.

honeyrider · 22/06/2026 18:15

Now that he's been convicted and his victims believed I wonder will other victims come forward.

Nofeckingway · 22/06/2026 18:22

I am hoping that her mental health issues are caused by crushing guilt . Not protecting the victims at the time and then siding with her scumbag husband when they decided to speak out . Does this mean she gets no jail time at all ? Or if she's released from mental health facility that she can be considered fit for trial .

I hope he gets put in a tough jail not a cushy one . Fundamentalist groups are the worst of all and the DUP are rotten with them .

AInightingale · 22/06/2026 18:32

I think a lot of women protect and have always protected their abusive husbands through silence. A blind eye was turned in so many cases historically. They are sins of omission basically.

In her police interview she said something like "she was on red alert" watching him. If you listen to https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0nr150k?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile they discuss her police interview in detail.

We only have one jail in NI suitable to house him which is Magheraberry. It wouldn't surprise me if he requested to serve his sentence in GB.

MichaelScottPaper · 22/06/2026 19:04

So glad justice has been served for these women

TooBigForMyBoots · 22/06/2026 19:40

He was betting on the odds. Most paedophiles and rapists get off. But not this time.

I applaud the bravery of the victims,👏👏👏 the pain and turmoil they've gone through all these years. Imagine living your whole adult life with such a massive secret. Unable to switch off from it. My admiration for them is immense.

I wish them strength, peace and love going forward. They deserve it.❤️

AInightingale · 22/06/2026 20:06

Thank you @Brainstorm23.

I'm a bit stunned by the whole thing. It's corny but he just didn't seem the type. Of course there is no type.

I thought he seemed like exactly the type.

I suppose like a previous poster , I thought he might be in the closet. 100% wrong !

Me too - I met him through work about 20 years ago and thought he was such a cold fish.

Is this link working for others? It says ‘Error 404- Oops, the page you are looking for is no longer here’ for me. I wonder if it has been removed.

JacknDiane · 22/06/2026 21:29

I dont know who is worse, the paedophile or his enabler.

I hope they throw the keys away.

SkippitySkoppity · 22/06/2026 21:31

He always came across as a very cold and sanctimonious man but I was still quite shocked when the initial arrest was made. I hope his two victims are feeling some sort of justice today. It's great they have one another to lean on. The church organised meeting so that he could say his little apology and make everything okay was sick inducing. I hope it's given some members of that church pause.

I do. The powerful, patriarchal paedophile with all the backing. Not that Eleanor Donaldson is innocent. But it's Jeffery's fault, he's the nasty skanky paedo with connections.😒

I think she’s barely any better than him.

ConstitutionHill · 22/06/2026 22:02

Repugnant, god-bothering nonce. There will have been more victims. DUP -bunch of reptiles.

WeAintNoArgentina · 22/06/2026 22:02

I wonder does this link to the issues the Presbyterian church has had - the resignation if the moderator has been said to be to do with safeguarding failures.

whippersnapper55 · 22/06/2026 22:05

Well done that jury 👏 I hope the women can now find some peace knowing he'll be serving a lengthy prison sentence. And I hope his wife never has a moments peace or happiness again either. The pair of them are evil.

BrownBookshelf · 22/06/2026 22:08

Revolting man.

I thought the paedos went to Magilligan?
Although let's hope the prison chaplain is better than the last one:

Wherever he goes, I hope he has to share a cell. With a cellmate with a BO and flatulence problem. And a really strong west Belfast accent, just to annoy.

Kinda hope soon-to-be-not-Lady D gets put in a secure psychiatric unit with some absolute heid the baws , although she won't be.

Massive, massive kudos and respect to the two victims. Their bravery is so impressive. Chapeau, les héroïnes.
