Not guilty. So will they be back on the pitch or are their lives blighted forever by this?

I agree 100% Honey.

eloisesparkle · 08/04/2018 19:48

Honey
Have you seen the other thread on the case in Feminism Chat topic section ?

eloisesparkle · 11/04/2018 16:36

Restrictions lifted.
ShockShockShock

honeyrider · 11/04/2018 16:39

Blood stain on the sheet airbrushed from the photo shown to the jury, the blood was from a non related person to this case.

That makes me wonder if similar has happened in the past.

StripySocksAndDocs · 11/04/2018 17:01

Restrictions to what? (Am I being dull?)

FlaviaAlbia · 11/04/2018 17:10

Reporting restrictions Stripy www.belfastlive.co.uk/news/belfast-news/rugby-rape-trial-reporting-restrictions-14519634

StripySocksAndDocs · 11/04/2018 19:45

Thanks.

Only read the journal report. The whole thing sound mad.

Who is this 'Long that tweeted?

FlaviaAlbia · 11/04/2018 20:34

Naomi Long is the leader of the Alliance party.

nightshade · 11/04/2018 20:59

What did she tweet @FlaviaAlbia...I chose not to watch it at the start and have read a decent article on the evidence presented...

Other than that I have no idea who the young lady is ...am not on Twitter and haven't really been able to Google much on other local points of view...despite being local!!

Everyone in my community seems to be keeping their views very personal and for very good friends only!!..

StripySocksAndDocs · 11/04/2018 21:20

Thanks FlaviaAlbia

She tweeted:

"What, because “working class girls” wouldn’t care/don’t matter/think rape is normal? What is the implication of that comment even meant to be? Appalling at every level."

In response to Olding's lawyer, Frank O’Donoghue’s closing speech to the jury. He said "“Why didn’t she scream? – the house was occupied”, he said. “There were a lot of middle-class girls downstairs – they weren’t going to tolerate a rape or anything like that.”

He sought to have the jury discharged. As did Paddy Jackson's barrister Brendan Kelly (because the judge seem sympathetic to the woman).

nightshade · 11/04/2018 21:41

It's a powder keg surely....they need to keep their heads down for an extended period and accept that this isn't just going away because they've been found not guilty...

My husband is a gentleman with two lovely daughters...he is self controlled and aware of his own responsibilities...the type of man that you would never fear being around any female...

He puts the blame firmly at the feet of the accused believing rightly that they are the only ones responsible for how they act regardless of how they may or may not be approached by hoards of females...

eloisesparkle · 14/04/2018 11:38

They won't be playing for Ireland or Ulster.

StealthPolarBear · 14/04/2018 11:56

I don't understand this

LoveManyTrustfew · 14/04/2018 12:05

And yet there is news of some English clubs being interested in Jackson.

Sadsnake · 14/04/2018 12:11

If she were my daughter,I'd be bloody proud of her...every single woman in this land ( and a lot of men) now know these men( I use the word men loosely) for what they are...I don't need to spell it out..we all know what they are.we all belive her ,we are all proud of her...and one of the doctors that dismissed her vagina lacerations as mensuration needs sacking .

SleightOfMind · 14/04/2018 12:22

I’m so relieved they are not being reinstated.
Hope they’re not treated like martyrs now though.

BerylStreep · 14/04/2018 12:23

Well I for one am pleased with the decision of Ulster Rugby and IRFU to drop Jackson & Olding. Sadly think it is more to do with the sponsors kicking up a fuss rather than the protest, but the result is the same.

This whole case has shown the revolting misogynistic attitudes deeply ingrained in Ulster sports and the schools that feed in to that. My DS goes to one of the 'rugby schools' and I will be writing to the Head to ask what the school intends to do to try to challenge the elitist & entitled culture that appears to accompany schools rugby.

BerylStreep · 14/04/2018 12:28

I also know someone who's DS went to school with one of the defendants. The son wasn't remotely surprised about the allegations.

I can only imagine what sort of (hopefully) soul searching their parents are going through, wondering how their sons ending up with such horrible attitudes. deluded

BonnieF · 14/04/2018 13:46

The decision to sack Jackson, in particular, will not have been taken lightly by Ulster. He is an outstanding player in a specialist position and clubs outside Ireland will be queuing up to sign him, especially if he is not in the Ireland squad.

StripySocksAndDocs · 14/04/2018 15:21

Feel like ive be holding my breath waiting for this decision. Wonder how the victim feels about it.

What English clubs are interested in him?

eloisesparkle · 14/04/2018 16:36

Beryl
Flowers re writing to the principal of your son's school about what they will do to challenge the appalling misogyny we witnessed.

LoveManyTrustfew · 15/04/2018 16:13

Olding is off to Exeter and rumour has it that Jackson is off to Claremont.

Might nip down to Exeter for a match, wearing a t shirt that says I believe her. Grin

gingercat02 · 18/04/2018 17:11

Hopefully this is true and other clubs feel they are damaged goods too
Irish News yesterday

wiltingfast · 02/05/2018 10:05

Sale Sharks now apparently. For both of them??!! Brave. V brave.
