I asked last month if I would be entitled to the cost of living payment in October - the dates have just been released - if I got a payment on 21st august does this mean I will get the payment- I don't quite understand the statements . Sorry for being a bit thick ' •
To be eligible for the Cost of Living Payment from DWP, you need to have been entitled to a payment for a qualifying benefit between 18 August 2023 and 17 September 2023, or payment for an assessment period, ending between these dates. From HMRC, you need to have received a payment of tax credits for any day in the period between 18 August 2023 and 17 September 2023.

So sorry to jump on this, I have moved for tax credits to universal credit, after receiving a letter to do this.

My last tax credit payment was 15th August, my first universal credit payment will be 05th October. Does this mean I will not qualify?

I'm exactly the same and wondering if I will receive the payment. My last tc payment was 5 September.

My last tax credit payment was the 30th August and then they stopped because my child turned 18. Meaning from the 1st September I was entitled to 0. Will I get a payment now I’m not receiving tax credits but I still received a payment in the qualifying period? So confusing!

I'm wondering the same my tc stopped 11 sept ever but I received a payment 5 September

I was on tax credits and have heard nothing

I didn't get my letter from them last time until after the payment. I'm still hoping I get mine.

Jasperdale · 01/11/2023 12:20

@beautifulweather thanks. Keeping my fingers crossed lol

molosolo · 01/11/2023 14:13

@beautifulweather I'm sure we will qualify, being between benefits usually means that you're entitled to one or the other at some point in the assessment period. It is worrying though, that £300 will all go onto the gas/electric and it's looking to be pretty cold where I am over the next week or so. I don't think I could put the heating on without the payment! Haha I'll let you know if I receive it.

beautifulweather · 01/11/2023 14:23

Thanks @molosolo that's reassuring. I've resisting putting the heating on but I can feel it getting colder and colder so fingers crossed for this payment.

Decideforme · 01/11/2023 08:45

@JustCosy yes, you'll still get it.

Thank you, hope so, it would help tremendously

Smoochie4Eva · 01/11/2023 14:48

I got mine yesterday and didn’t even realise until today🤦‍♀️I should really turn on my Natwest notifications!

bexmc78 · 01/11/2023 15:34

My last 2 payment were:

10 August - 9 September £0
10 September - 9 October £182

so it was only one 10/8/23 - 9/9/23 I wasn't entitled to anything but the next assessment period I was which covered from the 10 Sep onwards I was looking at the criteria it states up to the 17th September.

my question is would I actually be entitled to the cost of living ??

monicagellerbing · 01/11/2023 16:43

Yes you will @bexmc78

bexmc78 · 01/11/2023 16:47

@monicagellerbing

Really .. that's brill I thought I wouldn't... thank you

nightnurse82 · 01/11/2023 17:51

Does anyone know if I will get mine. My tax credit claim ended on 10th September. It says on the website "You are eligible for the Cost of Living Payment of £300 if you received a payment of tax credits for any day in the period 18 August 2023 to 17 September 2023, or if you later receive a payment for any day in that period."

My last tax credit payment was 6th September will I be entitled even though my claim ended on the 10th?

Mummapenguin20 · 01/11/2023 17:57

@nightnurse82 i think so

nightnurse82 · 01/11/2023 18:00

Thanks @Mummapenguin20 I'm really hoping so

nightnurse82 · 03/11/2023 17:05

I@molosolo did you receive a text today

Jasperdale · 04/11/2023 21:41

i received a text saying it would be paid to eligible people. Didn’t say if I was one of them though 😆

Bananapancake97 · 05/11/2023 14:01

Hi everyone. I’m trying to work out if I’m eligible. I received a UC payment for the assessment period 5th September-4th October and one before that was 5th August-4th September. Thank you

Bananapancake97 · 05/11/2023 14:14

My payments were made on 11th August and 11th September

DragonFly98 · 05/11/2023 14:22

Jasperdale · 29/10/2023 22:24

Like like I won’t get it then. Tax credits guy said I would as had a payment in qualifying period but as my tax credits have now stopped due to child turning 18 I guess I’m off the system.

A child turning 18 doesn't affect tax credits. Did they stop being in full time education?

molosolo · 05/11/2023 20:41

@nightnurse82 nope, no text or payment for me! Still praying I am eligible though. Did you?

I had a text Friday from tax credit but it still didn't confirm it just said if eligible then it will be between 10-19 November.

You received a payment in the required period so yes.

Debi08 · 07/11/2023 13:50

Hi all
I'm confused also. I had a nil payment on the 27th August..... Next payment was 27th September. I'm guessing I won't get anything this time around. X

Unfortunately not. Your nil payment refers to the period 21/07/23-20/08/23, which falls in the reference period. Your next payment refers to an assessment period that ends on 20/09/23, which falls outside the reference period. There are limited reasons why a nil payment can still qualify and they're listed on the DWP site, but unless they apply, you won't get a COL payment.

Debi08 · 07/11/2023 14:26

Thankyou. I didn't think I would but wasn't 100% x
