As the title suggests please could you all share what your council tax cost now is rising to.

If happy to share the council area that would be helpful and size of property!

Im about to rent a one bedroom cottage and shocked at the price!

That's £187 over 12 months

Thank you makes sense, i thought ours was more for a smaller property

TheRookie · 29/03/2023 07:45

Band d is Scotland, ours has gone for £135 a month for 12 months to £142.

PuttingDownRoots · 29/03/2023 08:06

O/T... but does anyone else think rhe banding system being based on house value over 30 years ago is completely bizarre? We "win" through it, as ours is ex-MOD property. But houses uo the road are in much higher bands.

shieldmaiden7 · 29/03/2023 08:22

£1769 a year, £147 a month. Band B. 4 bed town house.

kegofcoffee · 29/03/2023 08:25

Can't believe how low a lot of these are!!!!

£305 a month in a 3 bed detached home in commuter belt SE. I think we're in one of the most expensive council tax areas in the country.

We did look into questioning it, but our neighbours are actually all on a higher band than us. So it's too much of a risk

£2617 for a 125sq metre house, London borough so £218 x 12 months

but we do get a weekly rubbish collection (about the only thing they can do correctly)

That's insane!

Why do you say that's insane? You have no idea of the size or value of the house. Might be a 20 bed mansion in which case I'd say that's very cheap.

I’m nosy so I googled and that’s a band G which is a pretty expensive pad. I lived in a variety of nice 2/3 bed flats around the city centre in my younger, renting, days which are band c/d and are £1800- 2300 a year.

Westminster has the lowest council tax in London

And they collect the bins/recycling every single day even weekends!
(don't all move to Westminster)

Your water is included in that too, isn't it?

ChickenMacaroni · 01/04/2023 04:47

Band E, £2800 a year. We pay over 10 months as I like the two months "off" in Feb / March to help us catch up after Christmas.

East Midlands.

Back2front · 01/04/2023 13:14

Durham. Band C. £196/month

Danidandan · 01/04/2023 13:28

£2009.34

2 bedroom apartment in Farnham town centre, surrey.

QueenBeaver · 02/04/2023 09:09

Band E. It’s just under £3k a year, paid over 12 months. Our area doesn’t offer payments over 10 months.
