As the title suggests please could you all share what your council tax cost now is rising to.

If happy to share the council area that would be helpful and size of property!

Im about to rent a one bedroom cottage and shocked at the price!

Band F is now£2800 in west midlands, 4 bed house

failedbluecup · 25/03/2023 23:53

It's capped at 5% I think

shangelawasrobbed · 26/03/2023 00:01

£1313 per year, so £109 per month (over 12 months). No discount. Central Manchester, band A, 3 bed terraced house.

Birdsongsinging · 26/03/2023 00:02

I am in Edinburgh and ours is £3700 a year! I was horrified! Not sure what it was last year but I remember being shocked then too.

CallieQ · 26/03/2023 00:12

@Nothing2lose are you going to share yours

SickickFan · 26/03/2023 00:22

Was £178 last year over 10 months, now £186 a month 😳 Band C, 4 bed house in SE.

weathervane1 · 26/03/2023 00:30

Band B, mid-terrace near Chorley, Lancs. Average rise of 4.2% across all of the things it covers to £168 a month plus an additional £36 per annum for a garden waste bin.

EddieSteady · 26/03/2023 03:24

Going up to £117 per month (10 mths). Tiny 1 bed, band A, SW, with single person discount.

sendbackaletterfromamerica · 26/03/2023 08:39

£240 p/m 3 bedroom house, north

I am in Edinburgh and ours is £3700 a year! I was horrified! Not sure what it was last year but I remember being shocked then too.

That's insane!

Londonnight · 26/03/2023 08:45

Band A. Gone up £12 per month with single person discount.

Badbudgeter · 26/03/2023 08:49

Band E £1844 for the year but I do have a PWS/ septic tank so I don't have to pay the £600+ water and sewage charges that would normally be tacked on to the council tax bill.

Starseeking · 26/03/2023 11:35

Band E, outer London suburb, £2,299.64.

I get single person discount, so it's comes down to £1,724.73.

Starseeking · 26/03/2023 11:36

I forgot to add it's a big standard 3 bed 1930's semi.

Birdsongsinging · 26/03/2023 11:53

Orangebadger · 26/03/2023 08:43

That's insane!

@Orangebadger i just rechecked cos I thought I must have got it wrong! It is £3672.21 so sadly no mistake!

dripdripdripdrip · 26/03/2023 12:02

@Birdsongsinging , that is a lot but does that include water charges? I remember a previous thread mentioning that Scottish Council tax included water/sewage costs.

Band D, North Yorkshire £2225 per annum, up about £70.

Chickpea17 · 26/03/2023 12:05

Band F £300 Forest of Dean

OhFFS! · 26/03/2023 12:10

It's galling to see the London costs when you know how good their transport links etc are. Our village is so much more and yet, we don't have any. Nearest shop 5 miles away and can only get there by car.

Luckydip1 · 26/03/2023 12:12

Westminster has the lowest council tax in London

Morningcoffeeview · 26/03/2023 12:13

Band G
£3644.89 p/y
£364.48 over 10 months.
😩😩😩

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 26/03/2023 12:14

Band B.
3 bed South Warks.
£1714/ £171.4 pm (over 10) so a £63/ £6.30 rise on last year.

crossstitchingnana · 26/03/2023 12:56

Orangebadger · 25/03/2023 23:25

@crossstitchingnana is that over 10 months? If not then agree very unfair.

Yes ten months.

Cornwallintherain · 26/03/2023 12:57

£160 per month x 12 months.

55 SQM 2 bed house

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 26/03/2023 13:02

Band c two bedrooms £1900 south coast

Orangebadger · 26/03/2023 13:06

@crossstitchingnana ah so a little less. Ours is over 12 months, I had to change it from 10 as I just couldn't afford it! So it's £2630 a year.

Still quite gobsmacked by council tax in Edinburgh though! @Birdsongsinging
