Yes, haven't had it on for about a week now it's so nice seeing my smart meter say £0 usage 😂

It's suppose to get colder again though! Sad

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 21/02/2023 12:39

why does your smart meter say zero do you not have a fridge or lighting?

stardaa · 21/02/2023 12:42

We've turned ours down to 19 downstairs it was 20 and it's set to 18 upstairs but never clicks on.

Okunevo · 21/02/2023 12:43

@GasPanic Mine is 'on' for the season but doesn't actually fire up if it's already warm so I don't think it's costing me. My gas usage is much lower in warmer weeks with the settings the same.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 21/02/2023 13:24

On a timer so comes on in the morning for an hour and again in the evening if the room temp is below 20. Not had to switch it on during the day for a few weeks, and if the sun shines like it did at the weekend I get some solar gain. SW London

Hedjwitch · 21/02/2023 13:30

Only on briefly in the morning for getting up, and then in the evening if very cold for another hour or two. In Scotland. We just turn it on and off manually.

xogossipgirlxo · 21/02/2023 13:35

We haven't yet, but it barely comes on. Maybe for an hour in the evening, and for a bit around 4-5AM when temperature drops below 18.

OhmygodDont · 21/02/2023 13:50

We never turn it off as such. The thermostat is set to 18c I think we may have used 30 minutes ish in the last 5 days. My house was sat at 30c Sunday from the sun with the doors open.

Stroopwaffle5000 · 21/02/2023 13:51

Haven't had my heating on for a couple of weeks now

stayathomer · 21/02/2023 13:56

Contemplating it but unfortunately we have a pellet burner which heats all the rooms and the two worst rooms in the house (freezing), will very likely need to be heated for a month or two yet so will still need to turn the fire on. (I hate our stupid set up!!)

scarecrow22 · 21/02/2023 13:58

Yup. Weekend? Much of last week too.

samsam123 · 21/02/2023 19:56

Only had it on a couple of times this year, so wont be going on until maybe December

IconicKitty · 22/02/2023 11:31

It's definitely not warm enough to turn the heating completely off just yet. I set mine to 15c for 3 hours a day and it's still coming on in the mornings.

audemoray · 22/02/2023 11:53

We had it on for a few hours last night but it was off completely for a day or two before that.

tigger1001 · 22/02/2023 12:02

I haven't had mine on the timer or thermostat this winter, we just put it on for an hour or so if we are feeling cold. It's not been on much.

DemBonesDemBones · 22/02/2023 13:51

Nope, we're in Scotland.

Ariela · 22/02/2023 14:05

What heating? Definitely one of the mildest winters. Bound to be record breaking (Sunny warm south east here)

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 22/02/2023 14:22

there was a quite bitter cold spell in december below 0C for several days but siince New year it has not really been freezing on west coast of scotland but not really warm enough to be heating free it is lovely today no heating during day as WFH but it will come on about 5-8.30 it was on from 7-8.30 this morning

AuntieMarys · 22/02/2023 14:26

Mine goes on 4 till 6.30 pm

Thisisnotmyname2022 · 22/02/2023 14:30

I’m a typically cold person, I’m the first to complain I’m cold, the first to put the heating on. I also like having windows and doors open.

Is it possible to train yourself to stop being so cold and woman up? 😂

PurpleButterflyWings · 22/02/2023 14:32

It's minus 4 degrees C here overnight, and has been as low as 5 C in the day this week. So NO.

It will go off when it's warmer.

Yes, close windows and doors, wear more clothes. Used dehumidifiers to keep moisture down.

I am used to far lower temperatures now than I was before. Last year I tried to do April without heating, succeeded but felt pretty cold on occasion. This year I reckon I could do maybe March as well. The temperatures I was miserable at last year in April seem fine now (15C). Now they have to drop below 12C before I really feel cold and I can handle 12C in the bedroom at night no issues.

Thisisnotmyname2022 · 22/02/2023 15:24

I like the smell of fresh air which is why I like windows and doors open. Something that I can only do when it’s not too cold 😂.

I’ve never been one to pay attention to how much heating we use, I just flick it on when it’s needed, it’s only this year I’ve actually tried to be more aware of it.

SpringofJoy · 22/02/2023 15:30

I was thinking about it but then I went onto the Octopus tracker tariff a few days ago which has made it all much cheaper! I really do recommend it.

Oblomov23 · 22/02/2023 15:40

No. Because it's bloody freezing.
