Okunevo · 20/02/2023 21:56

Not yet but I don't think it's actually clicking on as it's warm outside.

alsnwi · 20/02/2023 21:57

Nope I love to be toasty warm

Okunevo · 20/02/2023 21:57

My normal is two hours at 14

AnnieMore · 20/02/2023 21:57

Ours was off all day today. It was not cold here (south east).

housemaus · 20/02/2023 21:58

Apart from an hour working from home today, ours has been off completely for a couple of weeks! Pleasantly surprised we've been managing without. No kids in the house though, I imagine the evening temperatures wouldn't be good for children - as it's just us and cats we've been fine with blankets/hot water bottles when we're downstairs watching TV and then we have 2 duvets to avoid someone me stealing the covers, so warm enough upstairs.

Whataretheodds · 20/02/2023 21:59

Yes switched it off today after getting the bill for last month. 3 times last year's

lorisparkle · 20/02/2023 21:59

Ours has been off yesterday and today however it is meant to be getting colder again.

DidyouNO · 20/02/2023 22:01

We never actually turn ours off it just doesn't come on if it's too warm. Currently it's set to 21oC as it's February and it's Scotland and it's a ridiculously cold high ceiling sandstone house Confused

FT123456 · 20/02/2023 22:02

Not been to cold here where I am, hasn't been on in a few days. Have read the temps meant to drop again though so I'm sure it will be back on soon.

WordtoYoMumma · 20/02/2023 22:02

Yeh heating was turned off a week or so ago. We got the bill for January and it's eye watering even with the heating only being on a bit in the morning and evening, so we've had to turn it off completely as we just can't afford it

2chocolateoranges · 20/02/2023 22:03

No chance it’s far too early, we live in Scotland and heating won’t be off till April/May time at the earliest.

I refuse to be cold.

Doesn't it ever come on without you realising when the windows are open? There's a transition of windows shut, heating on for us sometime in November. In the evening I mean, they can be open in the day if it's a nice windy day to air the house.

mondaytosunday · 20/02/2023 22:09

I don't turn mine off but it's set at 18 with the thermostat in the warmest room of the house, so it is often off most of the day due to solar gain as well as ambient temp. It's all open plan downstairs so if I'm cooking dinner it warms everything up too.

PalmLady · 20/02/2023 22:13

I struggle to understand when people say things like "I like to be warm" or "I refuse to be cold". I don't think anyone would choose to be cold and uncomfortable but heating is now a luxury for many.

A single mum colleague who takes all the overtime she can was talking about putting her heating on as her home was becoming unbearably cold. A well paid manager piped up that they liked to keep their home heated to well in the 20s. Do people actually not realise that a warm home literally isn't a choice for some?

I'm fortunate to be able to absorb the cost of heating but so many are not. So many people right now can't just 'refuse to be cold' and it's sad to see it first hand.

CheeseSquared · 20/02/2023 22:16

We had windows and back door open for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon! Wasn't exactly warm but was sunny and not cold so it was good to get some breeze through the house!

PritiPatelsMaker · 20/02/2023 22:17

Ours hasn't clicked on for a couple of days, thankfully.

Reluctantadult · 20/02/2023 22:17

Dh and I still have unresolved heating control issues! So I'm stingy and haven't had it on. The other day dh had it on 21! If my house was a person it would be very confused 😁

NewBootsAndRanty · 20/02/2023 22:18

My COPD hasn't effed off, so the heating remains on.

DidyouNO · 20/02/2023 22:19

Okunevo Yes the heating kicks in whenever it drops below 21oC which at the moment is often. It's cold here and our house is poorly insulated and generally cold. We need to keep it as warm as possible though because our new foster child has lots of complex health needs.

Nanalisa60 · 20/02/2023 22:19

It’s turning cold again Friday/ Saturday, so just had mine on for about four hours but only at 17 degrees.

Okunevo · 20/02/2023 22:20

@PalmLady Exactly. Mine is set to the temperature I can afford not the temperature I would prefer.

NattyNamechanger · 20/02/2023 22:22

Mines been off all week.
Sunday was glorious here -doors open, like a Spring day

@PalmLady Exactly. Mine is set to the temperature I can afford not the temperature I would prefer.

I'd prefer to not need to have a temperature of 21° to stay well..

I was fortunate enough to get onto the octopus tracker tariff, so currently paying just over half the standard rate at the moment.

GoBackToTheLibraryWhereYouBelong · 20/02/2023 22:29

Off is the default here. Only put it on if it gets properly cold, which IMO it hasn't been for most of the winter.

sanityisamyth · 20/02/2023 22:30

Haven't put mine on yet!!
