What temp is your house right now?

And do you have the heating on?

I thought it was a bit chilly this morning/last night but moving around today it was ok (hoovering etc)
We are sitting on the couch tonight with blankets, and ds just commented it seems to be warmer to night than last night. Checked the thermostat and we are sitting at 15.5 degrees. But we are ok tbh.

How warm is your house tonight?

(No heating yet and I think we are doing ok feeling cold wise iyswim? None of the kids have complained yet! Although we have a box of blankets by the couch. Have put up an extra set of double lines curtains on the main "cold" windows, put in extra foam on windows that were a bit leaky and tend to go to bed earlyish)

i have a jumper on, and have now put a cardigan on top, as well as the heating !

whatsthestory123 · 20/11/2022 19:07

ive pretty much now bit the bullet and have stopped rationing the utilities, dont get me wrong im still not throwing wild abandenment to all but im not being tight with it

i cant bare it being damp and cold but i do also have a open fire that kicks out heat but cant not have the heating on with others in their rooms feeling cold

i have £600 in credit so sod it the heating is on,no idea how much or how long the 600 will last but ive had enough being the heating police

CaptainMum · 20/11/2022 19:18

The house is 14oC and utility room 12. Four small kids but have got by with fleeces so far. Heating hasn't been on yet and we'll push it as far as we can for financial reasons.

Grumpybutfunny · 20/11/2022 19:38

It's was 10 when we came in (been out most of the day) fire is roaring and it's very toasty. Need to put the hot water on as Eddi hasn't done much today sadly

I have a fair bit of credit too, but I'm just so paranoid that I'll use it now and then we'll have three months of snow after I've used it up! 😂

Oblomov22 · 20/11/2022 19:44

House is that warm naturally. Heating has only come on twice in the last month.

TheHauntedPencilCase · 20/11/2022 19:51

We're down to 11 in the bedrooms now and really feeling it. Even with the fire on all day we can't seem to warm up. Not sure what this would feel like in the depths of January! Hoping to hold out until December but worried about damp. Mind you if the plumber doesn't come next week it might be less of a choice.

lljkk · 20/11/2022 20:51

Those of you with bedrooms below 16 & no partner in bed or not there at same time... do you have hot water bottles in bed?

My weakpoint is my feet. I can't sleep if My legs won't relax because my feet are icicles.

My bedroom is freezing as we hate it being warm and sleep with the window open no matter the weather. We have 2 thick duvets and find thats warm enough.

Its currently 15.7 degrees and im In bed watching tv and lovely and warm i find fluffy socks are enough to keep my feet warm

lljkk · 20/11/2022 21:19

yeah... fluffy socks do nothing for my feet. I think I have 4 pairs of socks on right now with the hot water bottle (& the hot laptop) & 2 duvets & 2 pairs of PJs, + 1 sweatshirt, wrist warmers, gloves (& I wear a hat in bed) and I'll be just about comfy enough to fall asleep. Might even get down to 1.5 duvets (one on most of me & 2 on my feet with the HWB). Fair chance I'll lose some layers eventually overnight.

i had hot feet in bed for a while when I was about 21.

Its weird because generally i really feel the cold and spend daytimes wrapped in jumpers and under blankets but cant stand being hot in bed. I do remember last year having cold feet and sticking some of those hand warmer things in my socks (think they are called hotties)

Where do you live? Is your house poorly insulated? I’m in the midlands, heating has only clicked on a few times but it really isn’t that cold. I’m in pyjama bottoms, t-shirt and hoodie, no socks, no blanket and am warm, but my house is well insulated and warm.

sageandrosemary · 20/11/2022 21:41

21 degrees here, just turned the heating off.

FourChimneys · 20/11/2022 21:42

17.2 in the living room. About 15 in the bedroom but will soon be less as we hate having the windows shut at night, even when it is frosty. Lots of layers and a woollen underblanket keep us warm.

user73 · 20/11/2022 21:42

We’re going to have this all bloody winter aren’t we. Competitive freezing or else fake shock that someone might be cold because the person responding is wandering about in just their knickers.

it’s cold outside. I’m on the midlands. It’s 4 degrees. That’s fairly chilly and some houses will be cold.

Not sure if that was in response to me, but it’s not ‘fake shock’, I was just genuinely wondering where that poster is because where I am it’s been so unnaturally and unseasonably mild so far. I know my house seems to be warmer than many (for which I’m truly thankful as we can’t afford to put the heating on); it must be awful living in a cold house.

Bedsocks made of some kind of wool (definitely not synthetic) and a heatpad or hot water bottle. Once your feet are warm, they will stay warm in wool under the covers.

My feet were freezing earlier and I was feeling the chill. The back of the house is warmer at around 18 with pretty much no heating so the humidity is high, which makes you feel colder as discussed on the thread. I sat with my feet in hot water for 20 mins then put on some of dd’s cushioned sole socks. It made such a difference. My feet are still warm now.

BeyondThinkOfTheOptics · 20/11/2022 23:13

My hot flushes heat the entire upstairs atm! Shame they don't happen in the day too 😂

Merryweather80 · 21/11/2022 04:49

11 degrees in here tonight. I have a dc either side of me and a cat on top. Nice and toasty warm. I'm getting kicked a lot though- kids, and padded by the cat.

Decafflatteplease · 21/11/2022 08:34

14 degrees inside the house at the moment.

2 dehumidifiers going as our house is riddled with damp, old windows that don't close etc.

Heating will be on for an hour when dc get home from school but that's it. Hot water has been on this morning. We sometimes have heating in the morning too.

Our summer bills are usage of £200, dreading what the winter ones will be! Currently have £600 credit but we will rattle through that very quickly I think

Lemie · 21/11/2022 13:05

11C 😬
