I can't be this cold all winter!!

I've had to put the heating on because I'm so cold my legs and feet are painful. However I keep looking at the smart meter and know it's unaffordable to do this daily.

Heated throw and hot water bottles have not help. I have socks and slippers on, a jumper and cardigan....

4 degrees indoors is grim and dreadful for your health. This just isn't right is it

I keep thinking of what Ukraine is going through. Its so terribly awful what is happening there.

I find this hard to believe, it is still quite warm out there.

Just, wow.......👀I'd rather feel cold than be cold -how insensitive.

Really?!

I'm in the north of England and my house 17.9 degrees this morning.

It doesn't even feel cold outside at the moment

Really?
I also live in the North of England, and have been shivering in an office at 15 degrees this week. And currently in trackie, hoodie, thick scarf and socks and heated throw and still cold. And no it's not icy outside, so what? Just because you don't think it feels cold outside doesn't mean that other people feel warm inside.

They posted that a month ago.

Well, I'm not sure that helps.I work in a freezing office that was down to 12 degrees a while ago. Or was I imagining it? If someone posts that they are struggling with the cold, I believe them.

NewBootsAndRanty · 03/12/2022 01:09

I was more trying to point out that it wasn't unlikely.
I don't dispute that the OP and others on this thread are struggling with the cold. And that it's a horrific situation.

It’s so shit. My heating hasn’t been on in over a year as it’s a luxury that cannot be justified. I’m in Scotland where the temp has been between -1 and 5.

I’d recommend an oodie (not branded one) if you haven’t got one. Blasting the hairdryer under the duvet before getting in. If you could a small fan heater or similar (even second hand) I calculated for me this would be cheaper than the central heating. My friend got one of those tea light terracotta pot things which actually works quite well. It is shit and painful being cold and sore, but an experience shared by many working class people including me. X

I'm surprised to read this as it's really very mild at the moment. Wet, but not cold.

We don't have our heating on and not even the children are complaining yet.

Well it wasn't 'really very mild' here today. Highs of 7c, right now it's 4. That's not 'mild' by anyone's standards.

Next week we're looking at highs of 4, lows of zero. South Wales.

MarshaMelrose · 03/12/2022 01:54

Electric blankets on the beds and settee. Low cost to run.

user175438765 · 03/12/2022 06:19

If you can see your breath indoors at temperatures that are not that low it means there is high humidity which is not a good thing. You see your breath more on foggy days outside
