Tell me your tips. I've decided this winter I want to save as much as I can.

Any advice on how to keep going? I've already decided to limit social media so I dont get jealous if I see people doing things im not. There are things I've planned so my winter isn't without its fun. I just want to prioritise saving a much as I can this winter.

Anyone else doing the same and want to encourage each other?

PayPal credit card offering 20 quid for signing up. The money goes to your PayPal account, so you don’t need to just the CC to spend the 20. Took a few seconds to apply and get the money. I don’t use CCs, but was happy for the £20!

Was this an offer sent via email? i cant see anything about it on the website or app.

I logged into my account and saw the offer there. I wonder if they are targeting certain accounts. I used the PP pay in 3 function a couple of times, but use my normal PP a lot.

@Sleepeazie thanks I signed up. Not a TT user , but happy to check in daily for the £7 Amazon credit! Many thanks for sharing.

Sleepeazie · 16/12/2022 15:04

Thanks @Shitfather you will now have a referral code on your TikTok, in case you want to share with anybody else on here who wants to sign up. It really is easy money and I’ve cashed all mine out to Amazon and spent it already with no issues.

if anybody wants to sign up in the meantime, my code again is Tik tok CF2588975
shitfather has already used mine, so although it can be used again- please prioritise theirs, if they add it, to spread the joy. Thanks 😊

@Sleepeazie you are very kind! I’m very happy for people to use your code. Glad it’s benefited you (and me).

I have access to student codes in case anyone needs them. I will DM codes and not post on the forum.

Please check Studentbeans and Unidays for a list of companies. There are loads of them.

I have just put a large chicken in the slow cooker. The plan is to have it later today as a roast, use the leftover meat tomoro in a stir fry, plus use any remaining meat/carcass etc for chicken noodle/sweetcorn soup on Tues.I hope it's a generous mumsnet chicken and we can get 3 meals from it.

Squeezylemonsqueezy · 18/12/2022 09:00

I am going to try to do the same each Sunday.Use the slow cooker to do a largish piece of meat/stew etc and start the week off by using it up,should hopefully save some money and time.

Lollybolly · 18/12/2022 09:06

I did a big asda shop yesterday, and today i am attempting to do some batch cooking and get ready for the next few weeks 💪

Laalaapopo · 18/12/2022 09:17

I am going to make sandwiches for us both for the week.I can freeze some of them and just use for lunches instead of wasting money.

Laalaapopo · 18/12/2022 09:40

I aim for as many no spend/low spend days as I can this week.

Drillingsaucer · 18/12/2022 10:19

I am doing a 'roast dinner' with sausages instead of a joint of meat to cut costs. With the veg, roasties and gravy etc,we quite enjoy it every so often and its definitely a lot cheaper.

Never thought to do that! It sounds yum.

My carer doesn't like roasted meat so if we have a roast or go to the carvery he has sausages.

My grandmother would roast a steak in the oven like you would a joint because she lived alone and wanted a roast.

Legakimboz · 22/12/2022 18:58

I put root vegetables in an oven tray and roast them and have sausages or sometimes chicken drumsticks with them and really enjoy it.I serve with thick onion gravy and mash.Feels like a treat, but is relatively inexpensive.Loads of places are doing veg for 19p at the minute,as well.

Gazumperrotunda · 22/12/2022 19:02

I bought some packs of carrots, onions and potatoes for 19p each, yesterday from Lidl to use in soups and stews.Nice, healthy, cheap and warming😋

Ecclescaker · 22/12/2022 19:41

Asda are selling their veg for 30p,and if you use their rewards card/app,you also get 10p back in the app for each piece of veg that you buy.
