Tell me your tips. I've decided this winter I want to save as much as I can.

Any advice on how to keep going? I've already decided to limit social media so I dont get jealous if I see people doing things im not. There are things I've planned so my winter isn't without its fun. I just want to prioritise saving a much as I can this winter.

Anyone else doing the same and want to encourage each other?

I have just put a large chicken in the slow cooker.The plan is to have it later today as a roast,use the leftover meat tomoro in a stir fry,plus use any remaining meat/carcass etc for chicken noodle/sweetcorn soup on Tues.I hope it's a generous mumsnet chicken and we can get 3 meals from it.

I am going to try to do the same each Sunday.Use the slow cooker to do a largish piece of meat/stew etc and start the week off by using it up,should hopefully save some money and time.

I did a big asda shop yesterday,and today i am attempting to do some batch cooking and get ready for the next few weeks 💪

I am going to make sandwiches for us both for the week.I can freeze some of them and just use for lunches instead of wasting money.

I aim for as many no spend/low spend days as I can this week.

I am doing a 'roast dinner' with sausages instead of a joint of meat to cut costs.With the veg,roasties and gravy etc,we quite enjoy it every so often and its definitely a lot cheaper.

My carer doesn't like roasted meat so if we have a roast or go to the carvery he has sausages.

My grandmother would roast a steak in the oven like you would a joint because she lived alone and wanted a roast.

I put root vegetables in an oven tray and roast them and have sausages or sometimes chicken drumsticks with them and really enjoy it.I serve with thick onion gravy and mash.Feels like a treat,but is relatively inexpensive.Loads of places are doing veg for 19p at the minute,as well.

I bought some packs of carrots,onions and potatoes for 19p each,yesterday from Lidl to use in soups and stews.Nice,healthy,cheap and warming😋

Asda are selling their veg for 30p,and if you use their rewards card/app,you also get 10p back in the app for each piece of veg that you buy.
