Tell me your tips. I've decided this winter I want to save as much as I can.

Any advice on how to keep going? I've already decided to limit social media so I dont get jealous if I see people doing things im not. There are things I've planned so my winter isn't without its fun. I just want to prioritise saving a much as I can this winter.

Anyone else doing the same and want to encourage each other?

A lot of the supermarkets are now giving away the Christmas veg for free.In the medium-sized Asda near me,you can help yourself.

Has anyone else bought a heated air dryer? I am thinking of getting one in the new year.Just curious how well they work.

I have got lots of tinned tomatoes, packets of spices, lentils, beans etc plus meat that I have been saving in the freezer ready to make lots of slow cooker meals in January.I can't wait to get into the New Year, use up all the stuff we have got in the house, trying to barely spend anything on food, toiletries etc, clearing the freezer and cupboards out plus tidying and clearing through all the Christmas surplus.

I can't wait to get started with saving money and stopping all this endless spending/eating/extravance.Roll on January 🎉

I am going to spend next week, when the kids go back, sorting through all the crap in my cupboards, drawers etc etc.Listing lots of things on ebay, just having a really therapeutic and hoping cash making, week.I can't wait 😀

I can't wait to start eating healthier again after the extended Christmas break.I will be making up and taking rice/noodle/salad boxes with me to work plus soups in my thermos flask.I am completely cutting out any spending on food, drink, snacks etc out of the house,in the week.No popping in to the sandwich shop or grabbing a coffee. One of the main money savers will be Dry January.I do it every year and am always amazed how much money you save by not touching a thing for the month.

Martin Lewis 1p 365 days saving challenge sounds affordable, and will result in over £600 saved by the end of the year. Start with 1p today,2p tomorrow, adding a penny more each day. I’m going to give it a go. I haven’t RTFT, apologies if this has already been mentioned.

It wouldn’t let me do a standing order for the 1p challenge with my bank so I’m using this showing how much you would save per month with the challenge and just transferring it every month x

I'm trying the 1p challenge but I've printed it out and I'm doing it in a random order so the day my pension or UC credit go into my bank account I transfer the larger amounts and o other days the smaller amounts.

I like your idea with the monthly equivalent but I think, if I could, I would do it in reverse order

Doing it in reverse it probably a better idea 😀

Those auto-save apps and save the change etc are obviously good for some but now that interest rates are rising again, think about looking once a week/month and moving what you’ve saved into an interest-bearing account. If it's worth saving 30p then it's worth getting 30p interest on a tenner.

I use ‘Save the Change’ with Lloyds. Every time I use my debit card, it the difference between the payment and the nearest £ goes into a savings account. Spend 75p, 25p is automatically transferred. I also have a standing order for £5 a week into that account. We are on a low fixed income, and I have just left the account to grow, over £1k when I last looked. Not a lot in many people’s eyes, but if we have an unexpected expense, we have spare money for it. I haven’t missed the weekly fiver so far.

I have a similar thing with Nat West.
