Thought we could share what is good and what isn't to avoid others wasting money!
So far I have tried...

Fishcakes - not great
Salted peanuts - wayyyy to salted.
crisp - quite nice
tiny potato balls - very nice
Fishfingers - edible
Garlic baguette - nice

Anything you would or wouldn't recommend?

The tub of ice cream, strawberry jam, chocolate mousses and tinned chilli are all good.
we didn’t like the pizzas, we also found the nuts to be too greasy and the chocolate spread was quite solid and hard to spread.

Bizzyone · 24/09/2022 16:21

The £2 steaks are good!!

FindingMeno · 24/09/2022 16:29

Orange juice - no
Squash- yes
Garlic bread - yes
Bacon - no
Quiche - yes
Pasta - yes
Pine loo products - yes

PigsInBlanketyBlankets · 24/09/2022 16:38

The potato balls!

Decafflatteplease · 24/09/2022 23:59

We like...

Cheese and tomato fresh pizzas....great for adding own toppings too and about £1 each. Also pepperoni pizza same range

Pork mince great

Frozen cheese and bean bakes...great for kids weekend lunches. Ditto pasta in sauce dried sachet things

Garlic baguette great 32p

Spaghetti ( dried) fine

Didn't like ready grated cheese really salty and weird texture

Decafflatteplease · 25/09/2022 00:00

Also 75p bacon great for carbonara. I normally pay £3 but we couldn't tell the difference!

Ineedwinenow · 25/09/2022 00:04

Their big block of mature cheddar good

Their version of mars bars good

Their white bread same as any other brand as with their milk

Their fruit and veg we have mixed results

their OJ not so good

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 25/09/2022 00:04

The garlic bread is good.

I like the kitchen roll and disinfectant.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 25/09/2022 00:30

Their spaghetti and the penne pasta are just the same as all more expensive pasta brands.
The beef mince, typically 20% fat is good, its fine minced unlike most "cheap" mince, great in a chilli.

LilacPoppy · 25/09/2022 00:36

I like the garlic bread. Also the packet spaghetti noodles. Dh likes the fish cakes. Potato balls the whole family loves but they are rarely in stock.

heartbroken22 · 29/09/2022 22:20

I love the 69p cheesecake.. it saves us money instead of buying the 3 small ones which are good too. The trifles are good too.

Garlic baguettes are so much better than Aldi. Potato balls were good. Fish cakes my kids loved.

ClownSchool · 29/09/2022 22:31

Tried this beef, not expecting much but it was surprisingly tasty. Like the old boil in the bag beef you used to be able to get years ago. Cook this in the oven though.

Thought of another one...big bag of "cooking peppers" so peppers clearly, for around £1.30 there was about 6-7. Had to search to find ones with only one green as we don't like green but they are far better value than the 3 pack peppers.

Also tried the blueberries today they are absolutely fine, just smaller than regular ones.

33p milk chocolate lovely for a treat

Spirogyra · 29/09/2022 23:02

Soya milk, good, it doesn't separate in coffee
Also like the coleslaw, as it is cheap it is not creamy but that's what I like about it.
Tried the sliced white bread today as the toastie one I usually get has nearly doubled in price now, pretty good for the price but l prefer thicker sliced. Also the teabags, like the bread they are ridiculously cheap but not great, can't expect much for that price.
Avocados & lemons, good, used to buy the bigger avocados where it was 2 packs (of 2) for £2, but now that multibuy offer has gone so will go back to the cheaper smaller ones.
Don't like the muesli, or cheese & onion pasty
Quiches were very good vaue but have recently gone up from £1.40 to £1.79, they are quite bland but fine if you heat them up which always seems to bring out the flavour more.

StrikeandRobin · 30/09/2022 17:35

Teen liked the garlic bread but declared the minced beef pasty ‘rank’.
Pretty much everything else I ordered was out of stock so no mini naan, no little round potatoes, no trifles. I will try again this week.

heartbroken22 · 30/09/2022 18:36

If you cook them right the fish fingers don't taste bad at all. They have the same portion of fish as the branded ones.

I tried the tortilla chips today and the apple juice in the fridge. Both good. The mcvities type biscuit bars are good too.

heartbroken22 · 30/09/2022 18:37

The pine toilet cleaner, foil, cling film and tissues are good too.

Decafflatteplease · 30/09/2022 18:59

Just had the mini naans, lovely

TigerRag · 30/09/2022 19:03

The porridge oats are quite nice. Can't really taste the difference between them and the more expensive brands

Alonglongway · 02/10/2022 08:12

I tried the £2 steak - great flavour but I didn’t manage to tenderise it very much. Interested to know how others cooked it

StrikeandRobin · 02/10/2022 12:15

We have just opened the kitchen roll.
I know, I know it’s better not to use any at all. I’m reducing but just sometimes need to use it.
Anyhow, it’s incredibly thin and scratchy so won’t buy it again.

Decafflatteplease · 05/10/2022 18:35

Just had the frozen Yorkshire puddings. 15 for 50p. Smaller than regular ones but really nice!

Frozen mixed veg also fine for a quick side.

Ready made mash not so good.

StrikeandRobin · 05/10/2022 19:07

Teen & DH just has a trifle out of the 3 pack for 99p and said they were ‘alright’.

They also had the garlic bread again. They really like that and say it is a lot nicer than the garlic bread slices we usually buy.

I managed to get porridge oats and the frozen cheesecake delivered this time along with the little frozen potato balls. I only use porridge for flapjacks anyway. Looking forward to trying the potato pops that seem to be so popular.

heartbroken22 · 07/10/2022 10:50

I went to my store today and a lot of the prices have gone up again. Garlic baguette 40p...mini rolls that were 45p are not 55p...lots of other stuff too...

Yoyo2021 · 09/10/2022 21:44

Cookies
Potato pops
garlic bread
cheese
chocolate bars
bread
burgers
