@Shehasadiamondinthesky

Hi everyone I'm joining this as I need to pay off a £6k debt in one year. So frugal living at Casa Diamond is in overdrive. I've made 4 weeks worth of meals for £3.99. The food in the freezer has been there for a year, mostly frozen veg but other things too. I bought £3.99 worth of carrots and potatoes and cooked up everything fro. The freezer and cupboard left overs into single portions and have returned them to the freezer. They are very tasty. Next month I will be shopping from Lidlington as Google tells me they are the cheapest at the moment. Breakfasts are fridge porridge as I have a glut of porridge and frozen fruit.
Sounds like you've made a great start. If you are on Instagram follow @mrshawkinshouse she paid off €10k debt in one year

Welcome Diamond, that is an excellent start with all that food sorted.

Love the ring Happier.

Slightly spendy day and just noticed my cc bill is quite high, probably due to it being school hols so doing more stuff and buying more food. Need to cut back a bit though, Christmas will he here before we know it!

Happier - l follow MrsHawkinsHouse, Ruth? It's not your account is it? Smile

Pretty boring day at work, spent £6 on baking stuff in Lidl, £10 on a set of pastry cutters in JL, made scones with the above and a spag Bol for dinner.

I'm at the point where I don't want the school holidays to end, but I want payday to arrive quickly- a kind of money limbo. Just under 4 weeks until dds are back at school, they've been off since early July so we've already had five weeks almost.

Unescorted · 11/08/2021 23:09

Welcome diamond . Freezer fossicking is a grand way to start saving.
My mum is panicking because she thinks that we should have spent up to the £500 budget... I haven't the heart to tell her that we are yet to get halfway.... She has a well stocked freezer.

Life 😲 can you get the second lot back from Mrs I Havehadsecondthoughts?

GCSEs .... Eeeeeeek. He has had good grades all through and a cheeky butter wouldn't melt grin..... I am sure he will be ok. Eeeeeek.

Good luck with GCSE results for ds, Unescorted.

I am avoiding the news today I think, it's bound to be negative about how results were allocated yet we spent weeks agonising over them.

Need to get a couple of birthday gifts. More expense!

Unescorted · 12/08/2021 07:14

Humbug I hate the press coverage of results days. It has always been awful and sneery ...better / harder in my day attitudes for old farts who were given jobs by their dad's mate. Last year and this year it is even worse... "well they wouldn't thrive in exam conditions. Snowflakes all of them." The kids and teachers have worked their socks off all year because they did not know until the last moment if it was assessment by teacher or exams.... none of the traditional coasting until a couple of months before the exams. Every single piece of work could have counted. Thank you to all the teachers who have made it possible.

I have no knuckles left.... DS is still asleep.

Good luck for all GCSEers today!

NSD yesterday but off to B&Q for some essentials today

I have a very noisy woodpecker in my garden - I wanted to plant my new babies this morning, but I don't want to disturb it.

Good luck from me too.

Got two birthdays this month, am panicking as I really can't afford much right now and don't even talk to me about xmas. I don't celebrate but everybody expects gifts.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 12/08/2021 08:53

One more thing - I finally figured out how to do the over complicated travel and fuel claim at work and have sent it in, it's worth over £100 a month to me.

Taytocrisps · 12/08/2021 10:07

Oh, best of luck Unescorted. When will he get the results? Do they put them up online these days or will he have to call to the school to collect them?

I'm seeing my counsellor today and will have to pay for a double session because I never paid her last time (forgot to take out money). So that will be €120. Plus a few € for parking. Must pay car tax too. But first I have to look for my car insurance cert. I paid my TV licence online last night and changed the name to my name. I think most things are in my name now with the exception of one or two things I can't change until we sign the separation agreement/transfer the mortgage.

Spoke to Ex last night about DD and he told me he hasn't signed the separation agreement yet. He met his solicitor last week with the intention of signing it, but she had some concern about pensions and advised him to hold off and she will talk to my solicitor. I rang my solicitor this morning and she will talk to his. We're both fed up with the whole thing dragging on and are starting to wonder if the solicitors are conspiring to drag it out so as to increase our costs.

Unescorted · 12/08/2021 11:06

Well that went better than expected.... Maths, Phys, chemistry and biology all 9s, French 8, history 7 and 6s for both English and 6 for music...I have a gasted flabber. Even he is surprised
