Tayto - it is frustrating when waste is due to casual carelessness. My Dh & DS leave their bike tools out in the rain. DD her clothes on the floor. I feel my blood pressure rise at the thought of it.

Alfie it is good that work and friends are really supportive.

In frugal news.... I liberated 2 plants from my brother's plant cemetery. He buys loads of expensive plants and then doesn't plant them, forgets to water them and then when they are almost dead puts them out of sight behind the greenhouse. I have rehoused a lupin (unknown colour) and a beautiful white hydrangea (Strong Annabelle).

Yesterday was a NSD - hurrah 🙌

Today I've spent
£75 diesel
£9.35 prescription
£10 on lightbulbs (needed) subject dividers (semi-needed) and some teeny weeny sistema pots (totally unnecessary)

I've finished decorating the bathroom and had enough paint left over for the downstairs loo. All looking so much brighter and cleaner!

@Alfiemoon1

Thanks everyone I just hope when university goes back to face to face and she lives back at the student house she realises what she’s missing going out shopping trips holiday etc while she’s working extra to pay for her jobless weed smoking boyfriend I resent funding him via her car bills he doesn’t drive food money so surely she will soon. She works at McDonald’s and he doesn’t even let her sit in the crew room on her lunch break with her colleagues she has to sit in her car talking to him on the phone this is because he went in one day and screamed at her as his order was wrong and humiliated her she spent the day in tears in the toilet. Someone sent her a bunch of flowers saying don’t let anyone treat you badly you are worth so much more he found out stopped her going to work for a few weeks and no insists she calls him on her lunch

We’ve paid for private counselling which was going well the counsellor said she was in an abusive relationship dd was supposedly planning to leave him but was stalling wait till after Christmas etc after his abusive messages to me she did end it and blocked him all her old friends rallied round mangers at work were supportive if you feel the urge to text him text me instead etc. This is when she told me she didn’t want to move in with him but he was pressuring her into it. If she loved him she would if she was committed to the relationship she would and how he threatens to kill himself if she leaves him. 3 days later she’s back with him I am blocked on her Facebook dh isn’t and boyfriend posts they have moved into their first home together

Oh heck. I think the advice is dont listen to threats to kill himself, especially as the people that say that are generally those that dont. But easy to write that, another thing to put into practice. There is probably a website of advice about what is happening to your DD, but I dont know which ones would have the best advice.

At least she knows she herself has lots of support and love surrounding her.

Taytocrisps · 10/08/2021 18:45

I'm lounging on the sofa with a cuppa while DD prepares dinner. I could get used to this Smile. I told her she has to clean up after dinner as well because if the enchiladas weren't thrown out, dinner prep. would have consisted up heating up the enchiladas and then putting two dinner plates, two knives and two forks in the dishwasher. She insisted on paying for the dinner ingredients also. Well, I had spaghetti and bolognese sauce already so she paid for mince and peppers. And walked down to the shop to buy them.

Alfie I'm so sorry to hear about your DD and her boyfriend. I've no words of wisdom for you but I really hope she sees the light and gets the strength to leave him - again. Am I right in thinking that when she goes back to college, she will go back to working one day a week and won't be able to pay for her current accommodation? So she'll be in student accommodation and he can't move in? I hope he doesn't put pressure on her to give up college and continue working and paying for him. That was so manipulative to threaten to kill himself if only. Very frightening to think how much power someone can have over another person. You must be worried sick but at the same time, your hands are tied really.

Alfiemoon1 · 10/08/2021 19:10

She’s living with him at her moment i presume his benefits cover his rent. This year her student finance doesn’t even cover her rent on her student accommodation so we have agreed to cover it providing she actually lives there this time as she was still paying rent there and her portion of the utility bills even though she was living him. No idea how many shifts she will work but her grades have gone down and this is her final year so she needs to get her act together

Alfiemoon1 · 10/08/2021 19:12

Hopefully he won’t be moving in due to his pets so even if she only says there the days she has lecture it will give her a few days away from him the girls she shared with got fed up of him being there all the time last year

ememem84 · 10/08/2021 22:06

Hope interview went well Life.

That sounds so sad and stressful Alfie Sad.

We are back from our trip away, it was fun and tbh not as spendy as I expected so that's a bonus. Spent £15 today on groceries, didn't get much for that either as it was all overpriced stuff from our little Tesco but needed a few bits desperately and didn't seem worth walking a bit further to Asda when I can't carry much these days cos of the PGP.

Think DD might be having her first transition visit to the next room at nursery today. She was very worried about it this morning and saying she didn't want to go Sad. It feels extra guilt-inducing because she is being split up from her bestie because we have decided we are likely going to send her to reception at 5 instead of 4 with her being a summer baby, so she's going into a different room instead of the preschool where her current bestie will go. However they wouldn't have been going to the same schools regardless so obviously had to happen eventually and I figure probably easier to get over the earlier it happens? We get on with her parents anyway so they can still see each other outside of nursery sometimes if they want.

Got awful nausea today Envy

Unescorted · 11/08/2021 15:58

Em that is a long long day.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 11/08/2021 20:18

Hi everyone I'm joining this as I need to pay off a £6k debt in one year. So frugal living at Casa Diamond is in overdrive.
I've made 4 weeks worth of meals for £3.99.
The food in the freezer has been there for a year, mostly frozen veg but other things too.
I bought £3.99 worth of carrots and potatoes and cooked up everything fro. The freezer and cupboard left overs into single portions and have returned them to the freezer. They are very tasty.
Next month I will be shopping from Lidlington as Google tells me they are the cheapest at the moment.
Breakfasts are fridge porridge as I have a glut of porridge and frozen fruit.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 11/08/2021 20:20

Lidl that should say.
