£250 in garden centre on a huge amount of plants, two trees and compost etc for garden. It’s our anniversary gift to each other! Now to plant them all!

Mrsmadevans · 01/08/2021 15:04

@lifelongfrugaleer

Pup was excellent at the farm. He met one of the horses and most were in the field, a myriad of cats and ate lots of horse poop.

Nsd so far today

GrinGrin glad pup had a whale of a time Smile

Your brekky with your Ddad sounds lovely Em Smile Gen that sounds a fabulous Anniversary present , enjoy yourselves Flowers
HumbugWhale · 01/08/2021 15:23

I am so tired! Almost stayed up last night to watch the eventing, then decided I'd be tired and grumpy all day today so went to bed. Dd1 wet the bed at 3am after which I couldn't go back to sleep. I was still awake at 5.30 when dd2 woke up. I am tired and grumpy anyway so may as well have watched it! Really enjoying the Olympics, agree the BMX riders are fab!

MeadowHay · 01/08/2021 16:23

Spendy day today at a local festival. Few quid on drinks, £5 on DD's face painting (which was a tiny flower - fine but feel that's steep, no?!), £5 on a gift for my friend's DD, £1 DD bouncy castle turn. That's far from all of it either but DH paid for the other stuff.

ememem84 · 01/08/2021 19:00

Ooh also £40 petrol. Should last a month.

Wolfcub · 02/08/2021 05:33

Rotten night's sleep. Typical of going back to work. I've been awake at least every hour.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/08/2021 06:57

Oh no wolf. Hope there isn’t too much to catch up on

northender · 02/08/2021 07:53

I found the same going back to work wolf. Hope it's better Han expected.
Going to see my best friend this morning who was 50 yesterday, so there will be cake! Gym class beforehand, going to parents afterwards to help sort dad's bank accounts out.

ememem84 · 02/08/2021 08:15

On the bus to work today. DH and the kids are going to the zoo so they’re having a chill morning.

£1.75 bus

Have to pay deposit for kitchen today plus an invoice for structural engineers.

Also need to grab a few bits for the kids from boots.

Gensola · 02/08/2021 08:39

Our dinner out last night was such a disappointment- the restaurant was very shabby and dirty and the food was pub level but charged at fine dining prices. The website and menus make it look really fancy but it just isn’t - DH didn’t check reviews which all say how disappointing it is so I was annoyed with him tbh, how hard is it to check!! Especially for a special occasion meal. It was a waste of money too Sad

We are off to NI tomorrow to see my family, which will be nice. We have booked a cabin in the countryside for a few days but I am so not feeling the camping vibes, wish we could cancel but we wouldn’t get money back so will make the best of it.

HumbugWhale · 02/08/2021 08:47

Sorry it was disappointing Gen.

Rubbish night here too, I need to find a strategy for when I wake up in the night other than "lie awake for 3 hours worrying about stuff". Hope work is ok today Wolf.

Taytocrisps · 02/08/2021 08:47

Morning everyone. It's a Bank Holiday here but it's very grey and cloudy. We're making pancakes for breakfast and I'm going to visit my sister later (she lives about an hour away).

I was supposed to go to lunch with a friend yesterday but she cancelled due to a head cold. I felt bad about cancelling on the restaurant because it's only open a few weeks, so I brought DD instead. It meant I had to pay for lunch for two instead of just me. The meal was nice but I forgot my fleece hoody and it was quite chilly sitting outside wearing just a thin cardigan. The restaurant is only open for outdoor dining. They could open for indoor dining for people who are vaccinated but the restaurant owners made this decision because (a) they don't want to discriminate against people who aren't vaccinated and (b) a lot of their waiting staff are young so aren't vaccinated yet). It was cold enough on the 1st August - I don't imagine they'll be doing much business by October.

DD is getting her first vaccination tomorrow.

em sounds like a nice Sunday.

Gen that's a nice anniversary present. Hopefully you'll get years of pleasure out of the trees and plants.

Humbug sorry you'd so little sleep on Saturday night. Hope last night was better.

Meadow the festival sounds fun.

Were you on holidays Wolf? I hate that 'Back to Work' dread. I find it easier now that I can log in from home. I check all my e-mails on the Sunday morning before I go back and then I sleep better that night knowing there are no nasty surprises in store for me.

Mrsmadevans · 02/08/2021 12:33

That is good if you not to cancel Tayto 💐
Been shopping to Newport, lots of books from the Cancer research shop £7 and socks and pants from Matalan 20

Gensola · 02/08/2021 17:02

£20 on snacks for travelling and £37 on lunch for us and the cat sitter (our treat). Now on the road to ferry port and feeling excited despite camping 😂
We have agreed to try and spend the same each week in NI as we would at home so not too much eating out etc. When we get back we aren’t going to eat out or go on any mini breaks until our next special occasion in mid Dec to try and crack down on debt - ideally clear my two credit cards and make a start in DHs.

ememem84 · 02/08/2021 18:06

£16 boots but paid with points.

£18 local cook shop. Pizza wheel and chopping boards.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/08/2021 18:25

£0000000 on a house. Back to looking

CamdenLurker · 02/08/2021 18:33

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a good day.

Gen - sorry to hear your meal was disappointing, enjoy the trip back to NI.

Very jealous of your Bank holiday today Tayto

Wolf- back to work dread is the worst, it can ruin the last few days of annual leave too. Hope it's not as bad as you thought.

Long day at work today, had a late lunch at The Athenian which I now regret, combined with the long tube journey home I'm now feeling ConfusedEnvy.

Supposed to be at the theatre, we have tickets to see Everybody's talking about Jamie on Wednesday but a tube strike was planned between tomorrow and Friday on and off so unsure about it.

Spent loads today, £52 in M&S on tights and pants for dd's, £245 in choice online on two Hugo Boss hoodies and some socks, for DH's birthday - I'll probably return one though , I had the money set aside in a 'Birthday's' sinking fund - well a Monzo pot Grin got 10% off which helped to cushion the blow.

MeadowHay · 02/08/2021 18:48

NSD today.

Hope you're ok wolf and not too tired FlowersBrew

Sorry about the disappointing meal Gen.

Mrsmadevans · 02/08/2021 19:12

@CamdenLurker I bought tickets for 'And then there were none ' and they have just informed me they are refunding our money it's not going ahead. Srrry you didn't feel well after a good lunch that's so disappointing Hmm
Wolf hope you are feeling less tired/sleep tonight , it's always the same when you have to go to work

CamdenLurker · 02/08/2021 19:23

Mrs - it's so annoying, we were supposed to see Only Fools and Horses but that was cancelled too.

It looks like the tube strike won't be going ahead so that's good news after all Smile
