That's good news Unescorted.

Had a lovely afternoon in the park with a friend, beautiful sunshine. Dh made hot cross buns (no Marmite!) While we were out.

Unescorted · 02/04/2021 18:17

Today's cake is coffee. I think I may have cracked the WI equal measures sponge.

Wolfcub · 02/04/2021 18:39

I love coffee cake. Have you tried the Ed Balls sponge yet? It is now my go-to cake

Unescorted · 02/04/2021 19:38

No.... must Google.

Unescorted · 02/04/2021 19:51

Having found the MN thread with the screen shot is it cream 300g of sugar with 300ml double cream ( YouTube clip looks to soft peaks) lob the 4 eggs in and fold SR flour in?

Wolfcub · 02/04/2021 19:52

No 350g sugar, 300ml cream - cream to ribbon stage. 4 eggs. 350g sr flour. Fan 170 for 40 mins. Check after 35 but it will need 40. Deep tins!

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 02/04/2021 19:54

It might well be soft peak, I couldn't find that info anywhere so assumed ribbon would be ok

Ooh interesting cake mix. How does it taste?
There are people everywhere. Urgh
Good news on ddad unescorted.

Wolfcub · 02/04/2021 20:22

Life it's lovely somewhere between Victoria sponge and a genoese- very light and pale crumb, slightly crusty exterior. Massive rise. Really you could make two normal sandwich cakes out of it

I've also done it with cocoa powder filled with Nutella buttercream

Sounds like a spendy day life
unescorted I can't really think of anywhere nice to go this weekend that isn't going to be rammed which totally puts me off. There is a big street photography exhibition all around the city centre so we're going to have a look at that today.
Yesterday I did a walk from home with friends which was really lovely but quieter than it has been, probably because people have the option of garden entertaining and going a bit further afield now.
Need to do our shopping & for parents today

Happierwithouthim · 03/04/2021 09:15

€17.50 on takeaway last night, I've decided lent is over. I had battered free hake I got two weeks ago so defrosted that and myself and dm had that with chippy chips, ds had a pizza and dd chicken wings.

€3.50 on newspaper and choc bar this morning, Wispa to be precise, if I've got to work on a Sat, I'm going to treat myself!

For Good Friday/Ash Wednesday if I remember I stay away from meat but I don't fast between meals/observe any other traditions, I'm a fairly lapsed/lax Catholic. If something isn't hassle and I think it'll benefit me I do it, eg giving up takeaways and alcohol for lent Smile

I've received my shop and scan clicker so that should make that task much less tedious.

Wolfcub · 03/04/2021 09:30

£28 farmers market including Easter gift for friend and starters for dinner tonight

North I know just what you mean, I was trying to think of somewhere for my parents to go today but it will all be too busy.

Happier absolutely right to test yourself to get through working Saturday

I had my hair cut by "Hair by DD" last night. She has done a good job - chopping off about 17cm. As a reward I am taking her trainer buying at Decathlon so she can start a couch to 5K.

It is still busy here today - I had hoped the predicted poor weather would have put people off, but no. The amount of rubbish people are leaving is unbelievable, mostly thrown out of car windows. I feel sorry for the farmers who are just starting to lamb & now have to do a regular litter pick of the fields by roads.

ememem84 · 03/04/2021 10:54

4kg of lamb shoulder has arrived at my house. After riding I’m going to get marinading.

Then it’s going on the bbq tomorrow morning at 7am. Yum.

Dh did the shop. I have no idea how much he spent but he’s been so so good and taken some of the pressure off me. I was going to make humous and flatbreads. But he’s bought humous and pitta. Everything else can be started today.

Mrsmadevans · 03/04/2021 14:36

I mad the cream cake and it is disastrous 😂😂😂
Not risen and slightly too brown 😂😂😂 more like a biscuit !

Be nice with custard Mrs. Grin

ememem84 · 03/04/2021 14:55

Oh wow. That’s flat!! 😂😂

My offering is a flourless chocolate cake. It’s currently in the oven. Never done one this way before. So will see how it turns out.

I’ve worked myself up into a frenzy because Fil and his gf are coming for lunch tomorrow and I know they’ll complain about everything. So instead of accepting this and just going with it. I’m flipping out wanting everything to be perfect.

It will be fine.

Having a cup of tea and moving on to lamb marinade next.

Mrsmadevans · 03/04/2021 15:12

@lifelongfrugaleer

Be nice with custard Mrs. Grin
I have given it to the poor birds 😂😂😂
Mrsmadevans · 03/04/2021 15:14

Omg Em can you get out of it ? Somehow ? Honestly it doesn't seem two mins ago you had to see them !
