gen hope it all went well for you today. I hate the stress of having to be in two places at once. Not to mention of your dh being unwell.

I have started running again after several months of not doing any. C25K week 2 and I am broken, but feel better for doing it.

Looking forward to Sewing Bee... I am not sure if DD is joining me. She appears to be having a good time back at uni & consequently she is not in touch.

marthasmum · 28/04/2021 17:09

Just catching up with the thread!
meadow well done to your little one with the bloods
gen hope your DH is ok, your week sounds really stressful already
mrs hope your DH is still ok
star I am new too and thinking about food bills, I've found already posting here a couple of times has made me more accountable. £72 this week on Tesco online so far
Am contemplating a big purchase - DD is about to turn 17 and my DDad has decided he's too old to drive (he's right Smile) so they might sell us their car. DD has some savings I've put aside for her which she wants to use. We're a one car family as DP doesn't drive and it would make things easier for me... needs a bit of thinking about though. It feels quite extravagant, I didn't get a car til I was 26!

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/04/2021 18:23

What do the numbers say Martha and would it save you on another car wear and tear/taxi etc

SnugglySnerd · 28/04/2021 18:37

Hope it went well Gen I am having a manic week too, thank goodness we have a long weekend.

Also looking forward to Sewing Bee, have lots a marking to do first.

Nsd.

Wolfcub · 28/04/2021 18:44

Gen hope everything went ok

Also looking forward to seeing bee

It needs to be pay day soon, have just paid one solicitor bill and my saving are looking sad, also have window to pay for soon. Spendy spendy spendy, April was supposed to be a cheap month

Happierwithouthim · 28/04/2021 19:57

Delighted with my grocery budgeting
€75 per week for groceries & €12.50 for cleaning supplies.

Last Aldi shop for April done €58.33
& €80 transferred to my Aldi savings card, this has been building during March & April. Goal is to get it to €350 & try big monthly shop when I move house & have bigger fridge/freezer.
€90 saved

marthasmum · 28/04/2021 21:41

Don’t think numbers quite add up life as the extra insurance, repairs etc would be an added bill. But would really add to my life in terms of convenience as I don’t like being the only driver. Plus my car is very large (a Ford galaxy) and I am reluctant to have her drive it as a new driver!
wolf sounds like it has been a really expensive time, hope things ease off soon
Not surprised you are busy snuggly teaching is a tough profession I think - gen are you a teacher too?

Mrsmadevans · 28/04/2021 21:59

Snuggly l wish l had known l would have come to see you too lol!

Thank you Martha yes my DH is fine now thank God , very kind of you to ask Smile
Been busy catching up with my family & friends went to a garden 60th birthday party and have had a lovely time , it is so nice to see ppl again!
Hope everyone is fine Smile

SnugglySnerd · 28/04/2021 22:44

It is bloody cold tonight! I am in bed but freezing. We are still using the heating, we would have normally switched it off in April. Not frugal!

MeadowHay · 28/04/2021 23:01

Same here Snuggly. I'm quite bad with feeling the cold normally but it's been so much worse with the HG and being so sedentary and at home all the time, our bills must be horrific...we pay quarterly and not submitted a meter reading in a while so I don't know the full extent of the damage yet...!

Hope everyone is ok, NSD for me today.

northender · 28/04/2021 23:11

snuggly I haven't caved in to putting the heating back on but we did have the fire on for a bit last night!
Had a bit of a spendy, social weekend but that has calmed down this week.
Nothing much to report here

Unescorted · 29/04/2021 06:48

I was so cold yesterday sat at my kitchen table. Today I think I will return to the hot water bottle and sleeping bag combo.

I had a lovely evening yesterday with a simulcast of Sewing Bee here and in Oxf. We need something for when DD is home over the summer.

I am attempting to make a crochet blanket for taking to the pub / sitting out in gardens after dark. I apologise for the swearing as I attempt waffle stitch.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/04/2021 07:03

Don't apologies, swearing is fine by me.

I've been freezing the last few working days. And the heating is still on as it's set to temp

SnugglySnerd · 29/04/2021 07:22

Yes it's been cold at work too. I have a fan heater in my classroom and I've had to keep repositioning it to warm the kids up. It doesn't help having to have all the doors and windows open because of covid.

Happierwithouthim · 29/04/2021 08:27

Wolf you're making progress Is it all repairs or have you done some stuff that brightens your house or makes you happy?

Is she responsible martha
Happierwithouthim · 29/04/2021 08:28

@Gensola

Driving DH to his colonoscopy today, which involves teaching my morning lessons then rushing home to pick him up, and praying that his appt doesn’t run over or I’ll miss afternoon lessons. This week is just crazy! Need to get to Friday and recalibrate my myself over the weekend.
Hope it went well
Wolfcub · 29/04/2021 10:32

Happier yes i have done make me happy things too, and frankly just having decent white walls that aren't grubby makes me happy so it's all positive

On the sofa with a poorly Cagletini today! She was sick a few times overnight. Sigh.

May cheer myself up with a bit of internet shopping. Including some more Lino printing supplies - I tried it with DD1 yesterday, it was lovely quality time - we don’t get to actually do much together these days but she loves art.

Getting some sensory stuff for DS as well - a body sock (like a big stretchy pillowcase) and smaller weighted blanket.

ememem84 · 29/04/2021 12:46

£19 whsmith colouring books abd crayons.

£48 SuperDrug. Went in for deodourant (which I bought) then ended up buying things for my desk emergency bag - paracetamol mini deo and dry shampoo lint roller etc. And bubbles for kids.

Gensola · 29/04/2021 13:29

DH got the all clear, which was a huge relief! My day was totally torched as traffic and heavy rain made driving conditions awful and there was a crash which meant I missed one of my afternoon lessons. But we are both so relieved!
Having lunch at work every day is saving us a lot of money, we both got sandwiches, coke, chips etc etc from waitrose yesterday and it was £12 for two of us. Grateful for the saving we usually make on weekdays!
I’m having my head of dept over for Sunday lunch in the garden so need to get planning, and praying for good weather!

marthasmum · 29/04/2021 13:59

em nice feeling to be all stocked up!
sing hope Cagletini (love the nickname) is better soon
gen great news about colonoscopy
happier that’s a good question and funnily enough one I hadn’t thought to worry about...she is very responsible . I think theDParents car has less mileage on than I thought so it may worth more than we have - I don’t want them to lose money.
Shivering here too, I thought it was vaccine after effects!

SingToTheSky · 29/04/2021 14:31

Ah great news gen!

Thanks martha my MN name before having her was usually abbreviated to Cag on regular threads like this, my older DCs were the Caglets :o

Em I love getting new things like that for Cagletini, she’s just started getting into colouring 😀 we have a twinkl membership as well due to DS’ homeschooling and there are quite a few sheets on there for younger ones including colouring by numbers etc (probably a few that don’t need membership to download as well)

ememem84 · 29/04/2021 15:09

sing I’ve found that the dc need stuff to do if we go out for food or coffee so I bought two small ish colouring books and some crayons so I can take them out abd about with me. I have a multitude of cosmetics bags which I’ve repurposed - so have one as a first aid kit in the car one as a “nappy bag” if I cba to take the big nappy bag. And now one for “entertainment”.

I also bought some nail polish so I can do my toes. I usually get a pedicure or two over summer but am going to do a diy one first.

SingToTheSky · 29/04/2021 15:17

That’s a good idea em I will def do that. The older two used to be quite tricky in restaurants at that age, and obv this time we’ve not been going anywhere like that for ages really, due to closures.
