Wolf It was brrr here last night too - give everything is looking a little slumped in the garden, but I don't think there have been any casualties. I hope you have your gardening gloves on - we are off to start reclaiming the front garden from the weed invasion, do something with the raspberries and assess what needs removing from the vege beds (it seemed better to put them out front to save having the back as a sun / bbq area).

Madden we live on one of the gateway roads in and out / through the village. The morning is definitely busiest with early morning shoppers. It becomes self perpetuating - they dash out early to beat the queue, see the queue is huge and then think it is always that busy because they got up early because the queue would be less. Next time they get up earlier along with everyone else so it seems even busier. I am a lazy mare so get to the shop sometime in the afternoon, at which time the shelves have been restocked and the queue doesn't exist. Despite all the local reports of huge queues and lack of items I have had no bother - except bread flour and cupcake wrappers.

maddenlightfoot · 14/04/2020 12:55

Yes unescorted! Those who turned up at 8am joined back of queue but got in no problem and by the time I got out at 8:45 there was no queue at all! Will definitely go later next week. £83 spent.

Dh is off to the shop in a bit. Same issues here. Everyone goes early to beat the queues.

Massive news here. Ds told me he needed to do a poo on the potty. And actually did one. Hashtag proud mummy.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 14/04/2020 14:44

I am unashamedly flashing my nhs badge to dodge the queues at Morrison's! Needed to get a few bits this morning for us and my mum, she's not feeling 100% (not CV related.) Spent £40 ish but a large chunk of that was on bedding plants which they had out the front of the store😶 Going to do my hanging baskets this afternoon now!

Also need to crack on with my uni work 😬

Bornlazy · 14/04/2020 15:57

How does it work Girlie? Who do you show it to? I haven’t had to flash my badge yet.

I’ve been trying to stick to one big shop a week with maybe one ore two pop ins to the local shop which actually has more stock than some of the supermarkets. I’m doing my mums shopping too so that’s challenging 🙄 but I just want her to be safe and have enough of everything she needs ( note needs not wants 😉) I think if you’re not out there it’s hard to imagine how different everything is.

Mrsmadevans · 14/04/2020 16:05

Afternoon everyone Grin
We have had the most gorgeous Easter weather, it is beautiful here, been sat out in the garden for a cuppa and a cakey Smile
Have not done much , been to Mum & Bob's , made a lovely lamb stew & DUMPLINGS grin which is in the slo cooker as l write.
Dh cooked them a smashing fry up for Lunch sorted the house out for them, Mum makes such a mess and Bob moves Mum's stuff all over the place it's awfully time consuming and downright bloody frustrating Hmm
Mum was very cruel to Bob , they had a row and she told him that he would be on his own if she went home because none of his family bother with him. She told my DD1 not to say anything to me . I wanted to give her what for but they are fine today . I have news for her, there is no way we would drop Bob now even if they split, he's too nice a person and we have grown fond of him. So yah boo sucks Mum!
My mob phone screen is smashed and l need to put all my stuff onto the new phone which l have had since Dec and l have been putting it off, can't remember my paswords for the life of me!
Dh just getting over another bit of an Afib attack , he's fine now thankfully , they seem to come like waiting for a bus these days , one every couple of days then nothing for months Smile
Girlie you flash that badge with pride Smile
EM well done to Ds Smile
Madden gluten free, veg suet pastry that sounds amazing, l have just used the last of my Atora vegetable suet and am looking at how to make suet myself Grin it seems easy but l would like to make it in the food processor because l am lazy l am afraid my crumbs won't be small enough for the suet Grin
NSD FOR ME TODAY Smile
Better go and put the dumplings in the stew have a lovely day everyone Smile

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 14/04/2020 17:11

Born I wear my id badge and just go straight to the front doors and show it to the man who is policing who goes in. Tbf i haven't used it to do a big shop only when picking up a few bits and a px. They are doing NHS only shopping on a Sunday at 9am so might use that to do a big shop. Like you I'm only doing a big shop every 2 weeks and usually top up at the local co-op.

I've had a lovely afternoon doing the hanging baskets ☺️

Wolfcub · 14/04/2020 17:18

Afternoon all. Funny old day at work it's been manic.

I'm making a ham and celeriac hash for tea with the leftover ham from Sunday and an unhappy celeriac from the veg box. It's a bbc good food recipe I've never made before. It's supposed to have duck eggs and gruyere but is just going to have to put up with boring old cheddar and hens eggs

Give it will be amazing - just not yet. I took one look at the mares tail and cracked open the particularly poisonous weed killer. I painted it on to reduce the damage to surrounding plants. The back garden in nearly done - just have to shift the small amount of clay soil ( I have been avoiding it for years because I think there might be rats / mice in it). Then I have a few more plants to go in and some temporary wildflower seed to fill the gaps. We are then guaranteed to have the wettest and coldest summer on record. Thank you for your weeding help.

wolf I love celeriac and no one else in my family will eat it. Is it bad to be looking forward to when the boys are off cycling and dd is at uni? I can eat all the vege I want....

MrsD glad that Bob and your Mum are back in the zone. Did you ever hear anything more from his family or have they backed off?

Girlie* I may have to go to Morrison's for my next essentials shop if they have hanging basket plants.... I was making do with tumbling tomatoes and strawberries. Utility rather than pretty.

Mrsmadevans · 14/04/2020 17:50

Unescorted His Dd came last Saturday , she stayed 2 m from them (Mum & Bob were out on the patio) , nearly 3 weeks after Mum got there. Mum tried to tell me all about it and she was salivating abotu wanting to tell me all about how lovely she was to Mum. I said to Mum l don't want to talk about her Mum , she's been rude to me and l have done her a huge favour looking after Bob here . When we came here the house was filthy, his washing had mounted up , he had no clean clothes & he had no food in his cupboards. She didn't like it but l wasn't having any of it, 'how his Dd had been lovely to her 'Hmm
Bgr that for a game of soldiers. She then said how my Dsis 'had got £10 each for the grandchildren fair play ' . It's Mum's money that she i sholding fr her how does that even compare with what my family are doing for Mum & Bob. My sister is holed up safely in her house with her Dh not striking a blow to Look after my Mum NEVER MIND Bob. Selfish just doesn't even cut it Hmm

LaneBoy · 14/04/2020 17:51

I would loooove some tumbling tomatoes. They’d definitely get eaten! Will get DH to keep an eye out if he’s at Asda or the town shops for essentials.

We donated a load of board games today - one of the main charities DH works with is a homeless hostel and they were desperate for some more entertainment during lockdown. Bonus - we now have more space, yay!

Well done DS em what a star! 💕🤩

Happierwithouthim · 14/04/2020 17:55

Woo hoo em ds

Happierwithouthim · 14/04/2020 17:56

NSD sat sun mon tues Grin

Wolfcub · 14/04/2020 18:28

Tumbling tomatoes would be brilliant. I have two hanging baskets and two brackets in my cellar. They are lovely. I've had them about ten years and stbexh never put them up for me. Sad

Sorry Em missed your news about DS. Well done to him!

MrsM it sounds as if you are making everyone's life easier for no thanks. I am Grrrrrrrr on your behalf.

Lane I got them at Wilko's last summer and never got round to using them, They were cheap at 25p but you only get 10 seeds in the pack - and I was diddled because my pack only had 10.

Bornlazy · 14/04/2020 19:28

give what a cutie. He does look happy despite his spots - that one under his eye is in a rotten place.

Girli I just saw that Morrisons are giving NHS staff 10% off starting Thursday I think.

Mrs sometimes the more we try the less appreciated it seems we are. I’m sure everyone that counts can see how much you do for your dm.

Wolfcub · 14/04/2020 19:30

Well done Em's ds

Giveme keep an eye on that pox it could be super sore if it starts to spread nearer his eye

Watched the daily cook thing. Then watched Jamie for comparison. Jamie has clearly got no clue - use a whole head of garlic in this recipe. Erm no love I'll be lucky if I can get garlic once a fortnight I'm not chucking it all in one recipe.

SnugglySnerd · 14/04/2020 19:48

Well done, Em's ds!

I have really bad hayfever. Very sneezy and itchy today. Anti histamine hasn't helped at all. Not sure what else I can do.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 14/04/2020 19:53

Aww well done to you ds em.
NSD.
Need to find some motivation to get some things done, just housework, it has slid a bit and I have to sort out some other stuff.
Being stuck at home is making me feel meh.
I know, obviously, that that is what we need to do, and we can't go to the park because of some knobheads, the council have now closed it to further notice!

Happierwithouthim · 14/04/2020 20:29

Give he's handsome, when dd had it she got it on her vagina. When ds got it my df offered to mind him while we went to Christmas panto, he wouldn't take the antihistamine for df & as a result scratched one spot and is left with scar on his forehead, only one he scratched whole time, told df I'll take it when dm comes home, 6 hours later at 1am Hmm
