That's just what we needed, thanks unescorted

OhMsBeliever · 06/01/2020 23:12

Spendy day. £16 on a haircut for one of the boys. £20 on a new scout shirt for the youngest as he's grown too much, despite me telling him not to.Grin £2.40 for the car park.

Toilet roll. I swear they eat it! I'm forever having to buy it. 😂

Had to move some money that I've just put in my savings back into my current account to cover it all. Tax credit money goes in tomorrow!

Accidentalaccountant · 07/01/2020 05:42

58 yesterday on pets. As well as horse also have dog, cats and various other hanger ons. This is definitely where my money goes

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 07/01/2020 06:17

Morning all!
Didn't post yesterday as I was so tired, whenever we have a break from school, the night before I can never sleep, I think its nerves that I will forget something!
First day back at work was ok, only a few children turned up, so a pretty easy day back.
Hope everyone who had a rubbish day yesterday has a better day today.
Curls, that is awful, glad everyone is ok though.
Yesterday spent £18 in Iceland on a top up shop, hopefully this will be enough to keep us going until Friday.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/01/2020 06:31

Oh rubarb. I'm on my way down wolf.

Nsd planned today

Pleased only cars were hurt in the accidents

SnugglySnerd · 07/01/2020 07:04

All those pubs sound interesting, can I come??

CurlsandCurves · 07/01/2020 07:36

Ha ha @Unescorted I used to live in Stalybridge! Don’t remember much about it as I left when I was 11. We lived near Stalyhill infant and junior schools.

Big spend today as the cupboards are bare.

ememem84 · 07/01/2020 07:55

Morning all.

Day started well here. Ds up at 5. Dh shouted at me for not getting up with them. He’s also dropped in that he’s working late tonight.

He’s really not happy in his job at the moment. I asked him yesterday whether waiting another 8 months until he’s eligible for his sabbatical (3months off paid) and then staying another 3 years to work it off is worth it. In my mind it’s not.

He hates the hours he does (9-530...nothing unusual). I suggested switching them.

Spends today £25 getting rid of mattress.

Need to buy formula for Dd. Might go to waitrose and see whether they have any vegan yummy things.

Oh bugger. Also need to pay the lawyer for our wills. And pay the door people. Ffs. That’ll be spendy.

Spent £12 on knitting supplies. Have justified it by telling myself it's good for my mental health....

Wolfcub · 07/01/2020 09:45

Batley is your name a clue to where you are? You might be very close by

nibdedibble · 07/01/2020 09:58

I have an nsd ahead. I will be desperate for a chocolate bar later but really that should be on the forbidden list Grin

Happierwithouthim · 07/01/2020 11:03

Yesterdays spends
€96.31 in Dunnes Stores - got loads for that, they didn't have the cheaper cat food so I'll need to pick that up, ds last night requested cheese slices in his lunchbox, didn't eat them most of dec I used all except last slice up in toasties, when I could've used grated cheese, so I need to buy that too

Going house shopping today so maybe it'll be spendy Grin

Got bill from plumber €150, will pay on Thurs
Waiting on bill from mechanic for both cars from last year's services.

Tyre man €95 today(tyre replaced on 9/11/19)

Must check garden for rhubarb Grin

Savings club at work - think I'll put €25 weekly into it this year to have €1200 for start of December. Last year I did €30.

LaneBoy · 07/01/2020 11:20

Woohoo made it to yoga. Got a taxi (😖 but friend cancelled too late to walk, so I tied the journey in with dropping nursery forms off en route). Core work + period pain not a fun combination 😂 but I’m pleased I did it.

There are period pants users here aren’t there? What brands are we liking? I have some cheeky wipes ones but the cheaper ones without front protection are a bit pointless for me Hmm. Not sure whether to get more of the “sport” ones or try a different brand. DD1 has modibodi which seem good but the cost is higher and they don’t seem to do offers other than when you spend like £80

nibdedibble · 07/01/2020 11:23

I have Flux and I use them 4 days out of 5 but I also use tampons on heavy days, there's no way I personally could cope without. I'm really impressed actually.

Mrsmadevans · 07/01/2020 12:24

Afternoon everyone 😀
Been to Aldi and Tesco , stocked up on tea bags , biscuits, coffee, trolls, tissues, cold tablets , rice, wash up liquid, succumbed to a Pannettone 😋😄 and pinch of nom book for 5.99 from there. Total spend 48.25.
Then Mr T for oddments, including a Heavily reduced pre lit Christmas tree for next year £8 . Am fed up with the lights on the tree flashing Willy Nilly and have bitten the bullet and bought a pre lit one for once and for all! Spent £30 in there , included a lot of anchor Speadable butter which is down to £2. 🤗. We don't use anything else so when it's on offer we buy about 5 at a time 😄
Hope everyone is doing well with the budgeting , hoping for aNSD for the next few days fingers crossed 🤗

Bornlazy · 07/01/2020 13:22

Nsd yesterday and hopefully today 😇

It’s so difficult resisting the sales, especially if you have birthdays coming up in the next few months. I usually buy some things for my February and March birthdays as I feel that’s not too far away to be forgotten about. I haven’t this year so far so maybe I won’t bother. It doesn’t actually save me any money as I mostly have a set amount I’m spending and if I get a bargain I buy something else to make up the difference. I’m a rubbish frugaleer but avid bargain hunter 😜

I have a cold and feel a bit miserable. I’m lucky that I’m off on holiday this week so I can indulge myself in doing nothing but watching tv. I’m skipping visiting MIL as she has had chemotherapy and I don’t want to pass on any germs. She is still in hospital it will be twelve weeks on Thursday. I can’t believe it’s been so long 😨

Curls glad everyone was ok in the accident.

It’s lovely that the thread has become so chatty. It’s inspiring me to try harder.

marblesgoing · 07/01/2020 14:19

Yesterday I ended up spending £16 at local shop and £16 in Matalan on a new bath mat and some bralets in the sale
On the plus side dm bought my breakfast so that saved £6 Smile

At work today so nsd and have tea all planned and have everything needed so fingers crossed Smile

Am picking up a cross trainer tomorrow from marketplace for £30 which is a bargain and a spend worth spending 😁

LaneBoy · 07/01/2020 14:28

Thanks nib I’ve not heard of that brand.

I’m mostly using as back up for my cup (I use an organicup) which most of the time is sufficient but there’s the odd time it isn’t enough. Plus I figure I can wear them when I think I’m due (not quite regular and I don’t get any warning signs before)

Spendy day, I finally had my eye test and bought glasses. Haven’t been since 2012 oops!

ememem84 · 07/01/2020 18:00

£62 waitrose and £25 vets.

Picked Ds up from nursery and he conked out in the car.

Had an email from nursery today. Dd starts on 21st....! Eeeek my baby!!!!!! It’s actually happening. Baby girl is going to nursery. She’ll be the youngest baby they have.

And I go back to work in 20 days. 😱

Also had an apt for therapy sent through. On Saturday. So that’s all in hand.

£8 batteries from amazon. The smoke alarm battery just blew with and almighty bang. I have replaced but the t placement also seems to be screwed. The alarm is beeping every minute. Only the downstairs one ever does this.
