CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 05/01/2020 14:17

Thank you so much wolf and north, I have an ecoffee cup in a lovely print, but it doesn't keep the coffee hot for very long. And isn't leak proof.
Will have a look in the local supermarkets too.
Thanks again Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/01/2020 16:10

I think we have that one wolf and also the other whose name I can't remember. They make flasks.

I love cooking and always buy too much so have to use it up. Took quite a bit for pic nic today £20 spend as well.
Quite a bit in the freezer and a few days meals
Yy of in out long days I will do 2 meals to save cooking or set the sc up for the day after.

Thermos. The metal one for £20 ish.

Wolfcub · 05/01/2020 16:31

I currently have two litres of cheese sauce a kilo of pasta and a pack of bacon cooling on the side ready to be assembled.

SnugglySnerd · 05/01/2020 16:51

We have used up the last of the Christmas chocolate to make cornflakes cakes this afternoon. Casserole in sc. Odds and sods out of the fridge (celery, parsnip, half a swede, few carrots and a leek) plus some Quorn pieces I found in the freezer and a tin of kidney beans. The dcs made dumplings with thyme leftover from Christmas. There is flour everywhere.

Feeling a bit like I’m having to play catch up already this year. Out for my dads birthday last night, my brother and I split the bill for the 10 of us. So that was £150. And the car tax was due this month so that’s another £84 I’d forgotten about. Maybe I will change that to monthly, I’ve no idea why we originally set it up to pay every 6 months.

Then we have received an invitation to one of my uncles 70th birthday in feb. Really didn’t think we’d be able to stretch to it, as it would involve a night in a hotel. But I’m using the money my parents gave me for Christmas to pay for it. So at least it’s only drinks on the day to pay for. My hope is to not need to use the Christmas money and to save it up.

I need to finish my food shopping list ready for Tuesday.

DS2 had a football match this afternoon. I’m still freezing cold.

Chicken curry portions ready for the freezer and a big vat of seafood chowder, some of which will go in the freezer. My first seafood chowder so I'm feeling very proud of myself.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 05/01/2020 18:02

nsd day today but we have spent it at home doing nothing! we watched shrek 1 and 2, dd2 was reluctant at first but was belly laughing a few times! makes a change from Netflix and YouTube rubbish!

I used up my courgettes, carrots for savoury flapjacks. We had it for dinner and there's enough for lunch for me and dd the next 3 days. cooked up some chicken from the freezer too yesterday with some herbs. I actually stuck to my meal plan for a week 😁 now to plan this week! any ideas for red lentils?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 05/01/2020 18:14

NSD today.

nocuts I made a red lentil and sweet potato curry, it makes loads!
It's a BBC good food recipe.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 05/01/2020 18:18

Link would help!

maddenlightfoot · 05/01/2020 18:36

I've finally had my first nsd of 2020! Had to change the meal plan around a bit as we still needed rice. Had squash tagine instead.

Dd has a friend over this afternoon too. She's now in her room tidying up and no tv time after a bit of a telling off after friend went home. She's always so rude to me and dh when she has friends over. I know there's an element of showing off to be expected, but I've had to say that I'm currently not enjoying hosting play dates because of this and that if things don't improve we'll have to stop. She's usually so lovely and polite as well which makes it harder!

Fearofawelshplanet · 05/01/2020 18:37

We made the banana bread recipe from on here tonight and chucked spare christmas chocolate in it. Was really nice! Result...

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 05/01/2020 18:43

Can I join?

Determine that 2020 will be the year I waste less cash and save more.

Have downloaded a Spending Log app and every time I buy anything I am recording it to keep tabs on my spending.

Also moving money from DS's savings account into a Junior ISA.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 05/01/2020 18:46

Not a nsd £42 in Pets at Home, got a half price dog bed which was needed as the dog has outgrown his old one plus dog and cat food (enough for the month.)

Had a lovely day, took the dog for a long walk on the quantocks and mum treated us to a roast dinner.

CurlsandCurves · 05/01/2020 18:57

@nocutsnobuttsnococonuts I do a spicy red pepper and lentil soup:

Fry off onion, carrot and red pepper. Add a tsp (or whatever suits your taste) of cinnamon, turmeric, paprika and cayenne. Add red lentils, large tin of chopped tomatoes, and chicken or veg stock. Simmer until stock is absorbed and the lentils are soft.

I don’t usually bother looking at quantities of lentils, stock etc, I just judge it by eye. But I’ve just dug out the original recipe and it says75g of lentils to 500ml of stock.

The soup is really tasty and very filling.

Okno · 05/01/2020 18:58

Nsd just pottering about.

Long dog walk, few chores, big lunch, long bath and now just sitting down with the last mince pie and a cup of tea in front of the telly.

Back to work tomorrow Sad

ememem84 · 05/01/2020 19:42

Nsd bitches!! Wahoooo

SnugglySnerd · 05/01/2020 20:02

I'm back to work tomorrow too Okno and I also feel Sad!

Nsd but that's because we have done stuff-all except some chores and some cooking. I haven't even left the house. I'll regret the lazy day when all the dcs are up at 5am tomorrow...

LaneBoy · 05/01/2020 20:02

NSD for me too, DH went to Asda for a few food bits, nappies, and bits for DD1 for school (tights bras and an alarm clock), that was £39.87 on my card.

Wolfcub · 05/01/2020 20:14

Nsd here too and proving the power of tv advertising I've just eaten a bowl of fruit and fibre after watching the cereal programme on tv. I don't even really like cereal

I do not want to work tomorrow either

marblesgoing · 05/01/2020 20:28

Friday was a nsd for us yippee 😁

Yesterday spent £4.65 on dishwasher tabs and milk.

Today spent £29 in Aldi on lunch stuff as bak to school this week. Also needed some basics like bread and squash and picked up a couple things to add to the stuff we had in for tea, like sourdough bread and a Camembert.

Tomorrow's plan is a long dog walk am,tidy up the garden abit if it's not tipping down,a mountain of ironing and need to put term dates and other stuff on the new calendar. Also have work paperwork to do so should keep me out of the shops tomorrow.

I normally like a mooch on my day off when kids are at school.
Il have brekkie and a coffee somewhere and then end up blowing £50-£60 on needless crap Hmm

I'm making myself stay away from town

GuyFawkesDay · 05/01/2020 20:35

Back to work tomorrow too 😭😭😭

ememem84 · 05/01/2020 21:27

Tomorrow will be spends at the post office sending off my old phone and a calendar to dgrandma.

Also need to call up the vet to get catface’s flea spot on treatment stuff.

Catface was most upset we ditched the bed in dds room. She’s ok now though. Nothing her fave blanket and basically an entire pack of dreamies wouldn’t fix. She’s curled up on said blanket on dh’s pillow. I’m in bed. So she’s next to me. Dh is downstairs watching the NFL games on sky.
