Life my nearest smyths is an hour! Not that I need anything.

I found a plane on google maps yesterday. Really cool I haven't seen it before

TC going bust is huge - hope those of you with bookings get your money back.

I am wfh today but not feeling it. I have put in hours and hours of overtime over recent weeks so not feeling too bad about taking my foot off the pedal today, just catching up on ‘normal’ stuff that’s been neglected. I have to go in for a late meeting later anyway, as I have to attend an evening meeting. I might nip to Homebase shortly over lunch as the fluorescent strip light in my utility room has gone and there’s no window so it’s awfully dark!

Also spent £90 on 3 bras on Saturday. Life is too short to put up with uncomfortable bras and in spite of my recent buttercream overload, I am smaller than I was so needs must.

Now DS’s birthday is done my thoughts are turning to Christmas. I did make a start but then stalled and I want to get mostly sorted before Brexit. If it happens.

Happierwithouthim · 23/09/2019 11:24

All shops are 30 mins drive from me life
I'm not utilising smyths event for two reasons, I don't know what they want and I don't know if H will contribute this year or not.
Solicitors appointment booked, worked out that his shortfall to joint account was 7800 not including Christmas/Communion so want to get this sh*t sorted for the future

Girliefriendlikescake · 23/09/2019 13:11

Wow what an amazing cake seacow! You're very talented and could def have a little side line in cake making if everything else goes tits up!!

I'm off work today with this cold/virus thing, I didn't sleep well and am very achy and tired today.

Should be a nsd at least.

Happierwithouthim · 23/09/2019 13:40

Cake is unbelievable seacow

northender · 23/09/2019 17:38

Amazing cake seacow. You are so talented.
Sorry your weekend didn't improve life
Hope ds had a good time wolf
Sorry madden and em about TC. Our flights to Tobago have gone, but we're insured so should be okay. We're holding off re the accommodation as our situation is complicated with ds' flights & accommodation being booked through the cricket organiser. Feel sorry for him as he's trying to find 20 alternative flights.

Wolfcub · 23/09/2019 17:59

Happier that’s appalling that h has left you so short. Seeing the solicitor sounds like a plan

Sea I don’t blame you for taking the time. I feel like I’m working all hours but I’m not working as much as you. I do however need to work tonight which after two interrupted nights sleep to ferry ds I am not looking forward to.
Tiredness has definitely caught up with ds and we’ve just had a really catastrophic violent meltdown including threats of self harm and him smashing his head repeatedly and forcefully against the wall. I have been sworn at and called every name under the sun - I have a certain amount of sympathy with the fact he’s tired and overwhelmed after the last couple of days but I seriously cannot cope with this nonesense after no sleep myself and a frenetic day at work. Hoping he blows his internal storms out soon

So sorry to those who have been affected by the TC administration I have friends who were due to fly this week who were affected and it’s just all incredibly sad for people who have lost their holidays and the employees who have lost their jobs

Lovemaltesers · 23/09/2019 18:39

Flowers wolf hope he calms down soon.

Sorry to hear about the bad weekend life

Amazing cake seacow

Sorry to all those who have to sort out TC stuff

I’m struggling with my mum at the moment. She seems to think spending their savings will prevent them being too affluent to pay for dementia care for my dad if it comes to it. Struggling not to lose my shit with her at the moment, to be honest!

Feel a bit bad as was very short with FIL when he rang up whilst I was trying to get the DC their dinner and DP is not home yet.

SnugglySnerd · 23/09/2019 20:51

Sorry to those of you with TC bookings. I can't believe such a big and long-established company has gone under.

Sea that cake is amazing. You are so talented and creative and it must have taken hours.

Nsd. Been marking books. Need to plan a lesson but I'm struggling to find the energy.

MeadowHay · 23/09/2019 21:22

Wreck Omg, the plane! Not seen that before, cool!

Awful about TC, sorry to everyone it is affecting Flowers. Really sad as it's such a British institution, and awful about all the job losses.

Wolf Flowers Hope you and DS both feeling better soon.

Love My DGM is in failing health atm and you wouldn't believe some of the stupid things my DA (DAuntie? is that a thing on MN?!) and DU (DUncle? Lol) have been suggesting as ways to get around her needing to pay for any future care that she may (/will probably) need! Intentional deprivation of assets isn't legally sound either and can cause huge problems later down the line.

MeadowHay · 23/09/2019 21:34

I didn't even post my spends, so tired...£2.30 bus to work, 80p pretzel as my morning snack (fail), £2.85 takeaway coffee with lunch as I was falling asleep and feeling shit (also fail). Sigh. Oh and £2 to charity donation as women in the cafe where I bought the coffee were fundraising for the children's hospital and I figured if I can spend nearly £3 on coffee I can afford to spend £2 for poorly children!

Oh and also like £120 on 3 pairs of shoes online, but I desperately need shoes. At least £45 will be returned because I bought one of them in two sizes. Both pairs of shoes had good discounts in the sale - TUK - and free delivery and free returns. So spendy but good choices still.

ChristmasSeacow · 23/09/2019 23:45

Spendy here. Took advantage of 15% off at Jojo to buy DD a mini micro scooter for Christmas. DS had an old classic one but it isn’t height adjustable and she’s too short for it and will be for a while so I’ll flog it on fb. I bought a few accessories for DD too (basket, cheesy handlebar streamers that she’ll Love). Just need a helmet as DS’s old one fell apart. I also bought a few Christmas gifts for the DC - bath toys and stickle bricks. And a sensory treasure box thingy that I think I can use for some turn taking and language therapy games with dS - so not actually for Christmas. Anyway, £120 spent there but I’m pleased with my haul. And I resisted the clothes.

Also £130 in Homebase. Ouch. Bought fluorescent strip light bulb, storage boxes, chalky furniture paint, brushes and wax for a bookcase I'm up-cycling at the weekend. And a few herbs for the garden and a. Couple of house plants and naice pots. But ouch.

No more spends please! Sold a sling bookcase on fb for £20, assuming it gets collected st the weekend (it’s a school mum I know so 🤞🏻).

Work is likely to be more manageable this week, phew. Hope yours looks up Wolf - sounds as though you’ve had a really tough day with DS in the middle of a tough week Flowers. You are doing an amazing job. How is he after one of those sort of Meltdowns? And you?

Thanks for all the cake love Cake. I’m basically self-taught when it comes to decorating but DDad taught me to bake and to construct / stack cakes. I’m confident to have a go at anything because of him and he was so proud that I shared his interest in cooking. I always miss him most when I make cakes as I loved to show him the finished article. But in his absence you have all been very kind, thank you! I don’t think I ever posted a pic of DD’s cake - maybe I will now I’ve worked out how to scribble out her name! Ha ha!

Off to bed before I buy anything else!

ChristmasSeacow · 24/09/2019 00:03

This wasDD’s birthday cake. I was pretty pleased with it when I’d finished it... until DH pointed out that I’d put a ‘3’ on the front and she was in fact only turning 2. I had to do a swift repair job BlushGrin. I was very tired that week...

The cakes are amazeballs sea. Very talented. My efforts would be fit to be laughed at on Extra slice.

Don't blame you happier. The knob needs to pay up

That's tough wolf. Hope things calmed down and you both for some rest.

The TC thing is just a nightmare for everyone.

Lsd yesterday but will need to go to superdrug today. Blister plasters.

ememem84 · 24/09/2019 07:27

sea those cakes are beautiful.

Ds is two today. I made a cake. It is in nowhere comparable with the pics here so I won’t post it. But vanilla sponge. Chocolate butter cream covered. White choc stars.

Looked into rebooking our trip yesterday. BA have a sale so looks as though we can possibly get the same trip for £1500 cheaper if I book quick.

Possible spendy one today. We’re going to the zoo with ds. So probably £40 entry. Then lunch. Then because it’s his birthday maybe a toy from the shop.

Also have to go to get some party food for later. Nothing crazy. Pizza chippies sausage rolls that sort of thing.

Wolfcub · 24/09/2019 07:32

Happy birthday C 🎂

ChristmasSeacow · 24/09/2019 07:54

Ah, happy birthday to C! Do post em, it’s not a competition. Anyway, fondant tastes shit, chocolate buttercream is where it’s at.

Filthy day here and tubes are packed. Ug. Pay day though 🥂

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/09/2019 08:05

Happy birthday C. Let's see the cake em.

Happierwithouthim · 24/09/2019 09:02

Yes em we've gotta see the cake, and taste is main thing! Cakes I get made for dc birthday's aren't as tasty as they could be but look great, and are what dc want. Happy Birthday C!! CakeCakeCake

Yesterday was NSD

Happierwithouthim · 24/09/2019 09:03

Today I need to buy batteries for my scales €4.99 and earlobe cleanser stuff for dd as one ear is slightly infected and she's lost her bottle/left it at h's.

Bornlazy · 24/09/2019 09:40

Flowers for all the frugaleers who are going through tough times.

I am totally exhausted and broke. We spent the last four days decorating our bedroom and building Ikea furniture which was totally grim, but no more cupboard of doom, now lovely swishy doored storage solutions. Still filled with crap but less crap than before 😜

I ended up cancelling the order for furniture that I had made for ds1’s room as it was taking too long to arrive and he was living out of a suitcase as old wardrobe was fitted and had to be dismantled to decorate. We got him some Ikea stuff instead, so over two days built two big wardrobes with sliding doors that you have to assemble panel by panel 😱 I don’t know how I’ve survived it to be honest.

Spends are ....... too many to list Blush. A lot on takeaway ( which wasn’t even nice) as I’ve been so busy decorating, but on the plus side I haven’t spent much on food shopping, much to the dcs annoyance, so it balances out a bit.

I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping yet which is very unusual for me. Payday on Thursday so will make a start after that.

Lovely cakes. So much detail, totally amazing.

Happy Birthday to C 🎂 Enjoy the zoo.

Happierwithouthim · 24/09/2019 10:52

Pics born when you've the energy to take them!

Happierwithouthim · 24/09/2019 10:53

Sounds good though, and organised though

WreckTangled · 24/09/2019 15:58

Ffs my driving licence has expired and I didn't realise because the dvla didn't send me a renewal pack (they have to in order for me to renew and are supposed to do it automatically) so now I have to either not drive at all if drive illegally and I can't claim my mileage at work

Happierwithouthim · 24/09/2019 16:56

Rats wreck have you been driving illegally for long now? Shock
