Thanks for the warm welcome Smile I really need to get back on this. I’ve put stuff in my amazon basket but am holding back for now!

ememem84 · 04/03/2019 12:59

£34 in next. New swimmers for ds, a jumper for baby nephew and a shirt for big nephew.

£12.50 for swim lesson for ds on Sunday lunchtime.

WreckTangled · 04/03/2019 13:07

£5.10 lunch Blush will bring lunch tomorrow promise!

Thatsnotmybaby · 04/03/2019 13:50

Welcome @FaithInfinity

Yesterday was NSD for me. I think today will be the same, nursery run done and not planning on going out again.

Cagliostro · 04/03/2019 14:53

Ugh. Just had a call from DD, they are at a community work thing, DH had his phone stolen 🤦‍♀️ 😰 gutted

ChristmasSeacow · 04/03/2019 16:14

Oh no Cag! Was it a smart phone?

Love Meryl the Mini 😂

Welcome Faith

Snow Lonely?! Shock

To PILs yesterday for lunch. Saw DBil, SIL and DNephew for the first time in ages so we exchanged Christmas Hmm and birthday presents for various February birthdays. I bought it so long ago I had no idea where I had put DNephew’s birthday present so turned the spare room upside down looking for it. It was eventually found in the study Confused. Spare room is still a mess 🙄

Yesterday would have been an NSD except I bought bits of fabric to make a quilt for dd (and possibly for ds too, if there’s enough and if I think he’ll be interested). It’s a beautiful set of Roald Dahl fabrics with the Quentin Blake illustrations on them. I saw them ages ago and was ruminating on it, but then realised that they have now discontinued them so some are getting very difficult to find. So I pounced. Had to buy from 4 different places to get all the ones I wanted and spent a good chunk of my birthday money from PILs but it will make me happy to make it. I have to finish the dcs’ advent calendars before I start them though! and unearth my sewing machine from under a pile of junk in the study . I’ve actually not read many of them myself (I was overseas when I was the right age and English language books were harder to come by) so I might have to put that right.

Nsd today. And the leather gifts I bought last week (mostly travel card holders) have arrived and they are really nice, especially for the price. So I’m pleased with that. Company is called Yoshi, if anyone is interested. Great for gifts for myself I now have a card holder adorned with biscuits for my travel card Grin

Bodywork people are coming to look at the damage to my car on Wednesday. There’s very little damage actually but as I was just parked outside my house and the car is quite new I am going to bother getting it touched up, even though I feel a bit silly going through the rigmarole of getting a courtesy car etc! Annoyingly it looks as though I will have to pay my £400 excess and then claim it back from the other drivers, when they work out who is at fault. Luckily my insurance includes legal cover so they will sort the claim out for me.

Knit night at my local tonight. DSis is coming too and it might be her round 🤞🏻So I might manage an NSD! I’m going to knit a chunky hat and cowl for a friend’s birthday. I’m hoping I can manage to start and finish the cowl tonight

Cagliostro · 04/03/2019 16:55

Yep not a great one, cracked screen etc but someone still grabbed it and ran off! How low can you get?!
Unfortunately it’s on a contract, first time we’ve had one in years and only £13 a month I think so could be worse but aaargh. Am assuming they will still let him use that for a replacement sim though and he can just use any old handset for now.

ChristmasSeacow · 04/03/2019 17:01

Yes, he can get a replacement SIM no bother. It’s the handset that’s the pain.

SneakyGremlins · 04/03/2019 17:02

I lost you all! Sad

Girliefriendlikescake · 04/03/2019 17:18

Another busy day at work 😓

Restart Pilates tonight £30 for half a term. No other spends.

Taytocrisps · 04/03/2019 17:33

Evening all.

We had a very snowy day yesterday but it all melted overnight much to DD's disappointment. She was hoping to get a day off school Smile. She got no homework though so it's been a good Monday for her.

We did a flower arranging session using bean tins at my Women's group and had tea, coffee and cakes to celebrate International Women's Day on Friday.

I paid my waste charges (quarterly bill of €83.25)

Smaller spends
€5 for flowers (I got half back 'cos I shared them with someone else)
€3 for Women's group
€6.50 for steak burgers from the butcher's shop
€3 for veg.
Approx. €8 for groceries

Wolfcub · 04/03/2019 17:55

Welcome to all the lovely new people

Cag that’s so annoying. Check whether you have any insurance through packaged bank accounts etc. House insurance should also have out and about theft cover but it’s whether the excess is more than a new handset
Sea that fabric sounds lovely
Jam Meryl is a perfect name, I’ve never named my cars but my parents always did and I remember almost all of them

£13 on ingredients for ds’s home economic and a few bits. This school must think people are made of money. I think I spent £6 but even at the minimum possible spend I’d have had to spend £3.60 to buy what was listed

Wolfcub · 04/03/2019 17:55

Oh and my freezer saga is nearly over. I’ve teceived a code to go and purchase a replacement

WreckTangled · 04/03/2019 18:08

£31 swimming lessons although I haven't actually paid as I didn't bring my purse. They're one of those annoying places that cap Apple Pay at £30 and I didn't realise. Will have to come back and pay before the weekend.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/03/2019 19:10

£18 on claimable food.
No other spends
Paint insurance won't pay out on my car to need to do main insurance

Justanothermile · 04/03/2019 20:37

Oh that's a shitter about the phone cag, whether it was the latest funky thing from Apple or an old one, it's not right.

The quilt sounds lovely sea. I'd pay for Meryl to be fixed too.

Em is having a girl, fact (in my head).

eBay £45.

just will let you k ow ina couple of eeeks

FaithInfinity · 05/03/2019 07:03

What a nightmare cag.

NSD for me yesterday!

Cagliostro · 05/03/2019 08:01

Thanks for the advice, hadn't even thought of contents insurance. Looks like excess of £50 so could be worth it however we are looking for old handsets first as even that would be a stretch ATM.

Wow em can’t believe you are nearly halfway?! 😀😱

ememem84 · 05/03/2019 08:05

cag I know! Scary really. I have told dh that I am absolutely not doing this again. Nope. No way.

RubySlippers77 · 05/03/2019 10:10

That's awful about your phone cag, insurance excess is such a pain. I have an old iPhone which is on its last legs really (4 years old) but I'm reluctant to get rid of my SIM only contract and start paying for a new one. I ran my 4S into the ground before I had to finally bite the bullet and get another phone! Is anyone selling a cheap one on Facebook/ ebay?

Hi to my fellow twin mum Snuggly! Childcare costs have been the killer for us with two, I was planning to go back to work but got made redundant, and couldn't find anywhere which paid as well and would be flexible. We only have PIL nearby for babysitting, they are getting on a bit now and not in the best of health, so understandably were/ are reluctant to commit to regular childcare. Hopefully once my two are at school I can find something again.

However..... I would really like another baby (em that makes me so broody, thinking about a little snuggly newborn!) but just don't think it will happen, for various reasons. Cost of course, also physically I'm not sure I'm fit enough for pregnancy again, and practicalities with another baby. But - I do consider it now and then!

It won't be a NSD for me today as DP has scarpered to work with the last bottle of milk Angry, I'll get another couple in and probably a bar of chocolate to cope with taking the DC shopping. First day of my Lent challenge begins Smile

SnugglySnerd · 05/03/2019 10:26

I know what you mean about childcare costs Ruby. I'm counting down the months until we start getting our funded hours. Only 13 months to go! I would totally have another one though. If we had more money and if dh would agree to it. Never going to happen!

Just going to catch up with everyone else's news...

WreckTangled · 05/03/2019 10:58

£5.99 on hay fever stuff for ds. So expensive! He's really suffering though.

WreckTangled · 05/03/2019 12:12

My manager just told me I've been being overpaid since September and owe like £700. Woo hoo. 😭

Happierwithouthim · 05/03/2019 12:20

Oh no wreck

Yesterday was a NSD and today will be also.
