Hi can I join in?
My money situation is changing soon.
I worked out this week that after h goes (divorcing) and until i have applied for UC and then waited for it to be processed The kids and I will have 17p a month left after bills and food. (That is including allowing for £140 a month on groceries, cleaning and toiletries). ConfusedConfused

Been spending carefully since divorce started but need to rein it in even more.

WreckTangled · 15/03/2019 06:32

Hi rose have you counted child maintenance? Will you get single person council tax discount?

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2019 06:35

Hey Rosa. 17p wow. Have you been ruthless with your outgoings. Canceling and renegotiation.

I would speak to the nursery and see if she is ok with all the changes with them. Then decide on bibs.
It's seems like a lot of extra waking to be.

Spendy day. Car service, gym kit, DM birthday present, lunch with a friend, food shop.
Phew

Wolfcub · 15/03/2019 06:36

Em I don’t know which part of NZ dh’s Mother and family are in but I just wanted to pop in and say I hope they are all safe x

RoseMartha · 15/03/2019 06:58

@lifelongfrugaleer @WreckTangled
Hi that is including council tax reduction and maintenance. Just not including UC. Which online calculator says i should get.

I cant really take anything else off. I did not include clothes allowance for me, money for presents or prescriptions or dentist etc.
It did include a small clothes allowance for kids and kids club which i am bound to for another year. It might be i can get cheaper deal on bills i am basing it on what i know he was paying on various things.

WreckTangled · 15/03/2019 07:14

Ok so it's not permanent. I see no reason why you wouldn't get UC. Sorry it's going to be so tough for you Thanks

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2019 07:58

That's a fair enough basis to start on rose. How old are your DC?
YY to what wolf said.

ememem84 · 15/03/2019 08:23

wolf thankfully not Christchurch. wreck hope your family are all ok.

We are at the airport. Checked in. Ds has said hello and bye to everyone he’s met so far and has been super good. Fingers crossed for the flight.

ememem84 · 15/03/2019 08:24

Ps. Mummy has also been super well behaved. No freak outs. Yet.

MeadowHay · 15/03/2019 09:00

Good luck Em have a safe journey x

Hi Rosa, have you done a benefits checker on like entitledto or anything? You might be entitled to more than you realise. For example prescriptions - pretty sure if you're on UC you get free prescriptions, free dental etc?

WreckTangled · 15/03/2019 09:04

All north island here thankfully

Cagliostro · 15/03/2019 09:25

Glad they are ok wreck and em

Going swimming today although am a bit congested so might sit in the steam room a little longer!

My brain is already fried with chemistry and French this morning. Everything else might be a bit lame at the moment but home ed is going better than ever!

Thatsnotmybaby · 15/03/2019 10:07

Good to hear all are ok @ememem84 and @WreckTangled. Hope all goes smoothly and you have a lovely weekend @ememem84.
Welcome @RoseMartha, that's sounds very tough; lots of good advice and support here.
Planning quiet day at home here, possibly visiting PIL later, so should be NSD.

Wolfcub · 15/03/2019 10:17

Happierwithouthim · 15/03/2019 12:41

Welcome @RoseMartha great to see you on this thread Smile

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2019 13:34

Awful new re, NZ. Such a peaceful country, it’s a shock.

Have a good weekend Em.

Anyone seen JAM? It’s been a bit quiet on here in the last few days, hope the regulars stick with us!

DH’s birthday this weekend. We’re not doing anything special but I am making cake(s). And currently making choc chip cookies while wfh

Boden has just sent me a £15 voucher. How they tempt me! HmmSmile

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2019 13:35

And welcome Rose, where are my manners?!

RoseMartha · 15/03/2019 14:18

Hi everyone. Entitled to u says I will get UC, but part of me cant believe that I will. Maybe my brain is stuck in worse case scenario. I cant claim yet.
Kids are 11, one has special needs.

I spent £13 in poundland today stocking up on cleaning and toiletries.

Cagliostro · 15/03/2019 15:02

Woohoo. Swimming done. We put the world to rights with a random dude in the steam room. That sounds dodgy :o

DH got paid from work and it was making up for a mistake that was made last month. So things aren’t quite so dire. Obviously they will be in future though as he 100% can’t keep this job so we aren’t going to relax totally but it’s nice to not be quite so stressed and I could do things like get the French books for DD without panicking.

WreckTangled · 15/03/2019 15:13

Just got back from food shopping. Went to a friends for coffee this morning so haven't even had any lunch yet. Luckily I had a millionaires shortbread at my friends 😋

£30 fuel

Meal plan:

Wolfcub · 15/03/2019 15:36

Lovemaltesers · 15/03/2019 17:31

I'm mostly lurking as knackered after a busy week and my assignment is due imminently

M&S sent me a £5 off online spend. They are tempting me too seacow

Welcome rose, sounds stressful Thanks

Justanothermile · 15/03/2019 19:24

I'm still here thank you seacow. Just coming to the end of a really tricky and draining period at work. I'm hoping for normality to resume next week, but I had hoped for this last week too.

Not complaining, just using any spare time I've had to 'do life'.

Sorry - I've not been reading but I ❤️ you all!!
