What have you been buying life?!

Jam pleased you're ok.

I love my bed. It's literally my favourite place to be. So cosy and secure. I might divorce dh and marry my bed instead.

Unescorted · 15/03/2019 20:57

Evening - sorry been rubbish at keeping up again. It is Year End < have a mental voice of doom> so I have been out of circulation.

Cag has your DD downloaded the Duo Lingo app. It is free and very addictive. This may also account for my absence. You can access it on line too. On the other things - that is a sad about your DH not getting an interview. We have situations like that - you are told to apply and then the sifting rules you out. Could they look to second him - if he can no longer do the job he has, do they not have to make reasonable adjustments. It is not as if he has breached his contract and therefore unwilling to carry out his duties. Maybe speak to CAB / ACAS about what they should do. I know if we are unable to do our current position they find another for us to do. Eg when I was having trouble with my eye I couldn't visit sites so they got someone else to do those for me & I did a bit more of the contract management stuff.

Lonely did you get the poly tunnel in the end? I have done a first weed removal of the year & was surprised to find spring onions, spinach and fennel had all over wintered.

Wreck That is bad timing re the car seat.

Rose if you don't try to claim then you have said no on their behalf. Make them work for their not paying.

Today I may have had to go to the art shop - £12 for 3 pens (me) and 2 pencils (dd). I think bankrupting myself in Freds is going to be the story of my life from now until dd graduates. A tube of acrylic paint costs anywhere between £4 and £35. Oils even more. A single sheet of paper can set me back £5. A single brush £30.It smells lovely though.

Girliefriendlikescake · 15/03/2019 21:07

Evening all, welcome rose

Hope you're okay jam, sounds stressful.

I love my bed as well wreck!

Felt like a long day here, watching comic relief now and will be heading to my lovely bed very soon!

Spent £2 on a drink and snack.
£10 to the window cleaner.

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2019 21:08

How much condensed milk and digestives have you actually bought, Life? ShockWink

Glad you’re still with us Jam. I remember you were in the middle of a sorry business at work. Been there myself Flowers

Quiet day today, £8 on mostly fruit and flour. My baking is escalating, I’m getting though a lot of butter and flour at the mo!

Unescorted · 15/03/2019 21:10

Sea I am thinking hot cross buns.

Wolfcub · 15/03/2019 21:46

Ooo a nice tea loaf Sea that’d be lovely

Unescorted and Jam it’s lovely to see you

Welcome Rose

Cagliostro · 15/03/2019 21:52

Sorry about the rough time at work jam thank you for popping back though 😘

Unescorted I was just doing some Duo myself :o love it. We’ve been using it for Japanese for a while on the iPad (very very slow progress but they do a bit every day) and DD got it on her phone this week for French. :o Hoping a combination of textbooks, apps etc will see us right. I also realised I should put it on my own phone, so I can skip ahead on the Japanese without messing up what the kids are doing.

I’m relieved I stopped doing shopandscan for a bit but they’ve let my account stay open so we are starting again. And we got invited to their screen monitoring one as well which will be some extra money. Figured we need to prioritise things like this now.

BTW the job rejection was because he can’t drive (there is good reason he can’t, learning not an option). He and his manager are pissed off because it never said anything on the advert. Hoping though that when the local region comes up (he was applying to the nearest one currently available) they might be more understanding. It’s mostly working from home anyway.

Not sure about seconding from actual main job (in a shop) - he had the reasonable adjustment of not doing till for a while but it was impractical and impossible for the store to guarantee this, and the pain has escalated so much that it wasn’t enough anyway. I don’t think there’s anything they could send him to instead TBH.

Still haven’t done the DLA form. Somebody kick me tomorrow please!

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2019 22:58

You’ll need plenty of chocolate for that Cag, it’s a depressing experience Brew

I’ve never made a hot cross bun Unescorted, not sure how! If I’m getting bready though I’d go for a cinnamon bun Wink. I mostly cook what my family like best (cake, cookies) rather than what I like best (anything bready) as I try not to each too much of my baking 🐷. Lonely Flapjack is still the unanimous family favourite.

RoseMartha · 16/03/2019 00:24

Thank you for the welcome everyone. I will apply but I cant yet. Meanwhile decided to stock up a bit on cleaning and toiletries and staples.

@WreckTangled I would love my bed too if I had one.

WreckTangled · 16/03/2019 06:52

Rose have you got your own place or are you in temporary accommodation?

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/03/2019 07:27

Haha. No tray baking goods except for strong four.
£150 car, £21 garden centre, £36 sports direct, £11.25 Sainsbury's, £15 Primark, £9 b&m, £70 Asda as thought I would go there add a compromise to Aldi then Sainsbury's. V disappointed.
£30 woggles but got that back, £7..50 comic relief, £24 cleaner,

Probably not that much but very little budgeted for.

Justanothermile · 16/03/2019 07:34

Yep, reasonable adjustments are subjective, but have to work for both sides too. It's a tricky one. We have an employee with a back issue and have reasonably adjusted by giving specific equipment and chair. A larger company may be expected to do more as it's more practical to do so. Poor DH cag.

I've got the joy of preliminary prom shopping with Dd this morning. She's very stressed and emotional at present, due to exam stress and is quite hard work being honest. Usually lovely in fairness. But her, DH being down and work being a pain are making for a fun time at present.Smile

I've lots of mushrooms, so tea will involve mushrooms...!

Justanothermile · 16/03/2019 07:35

I'd have thought Asda would be way cheaper life...😲

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 16/03/2019 07:48

It was for food I don't buy jam. So if I wanted crisps cakes chocolate and such like. Food I eat poor choice and not much cheaper. Will stick with Aldi and Sainsbury's.

You probably have loads of choice your way but there a massive wedding/ prom warehouse not too far from here. Yorkshire town begins with N that is meant to be good.

Which arm and leg are you giving up for prom costs?
Sorry to hear dh is down too. That's always tough.

WreckTangled · 16/03/2019 07:49

I don't like Asda I have to say. Also our nearest one is an hour away so when I do go I spend loads because I get over excited with all the variety Grin

Justanothermile · 16/03/2019 08:08

Cheers life. She wants something quirky and different and out there and not normal and there will be 'NOTHING' where we are going, which is the largest city in Yorkshire and maybe 5th largest in UK😁.

We've actually also got two weddings this year too, so I'm prepared to spend a little more, if it can be used three times.

northender · 16/03/2019 08:11

Popping in to say hello. In a similar position to jam re work so have not been managing to keep up. Work is exciting at the moment, but until we are fully staffed then such a lot of work falls to me, hence working on days off, long hours and dealing with a performance/capability issue. I plan to take the time back in future but it's tough right now.
I desperately need to meal plan this morning before going shopping. Then it's ferrying ds to & from his last cricket academy session & we're both going to the football this afternoon. Dd is off to her friend's overnight & out for another friend's birthday tomorrow. That means a peaceful day for us as ds is on the last day of his coaching course tomorrow & getting a lift from someone else.
Going to my cousin's for dinner tonight, it'll be good to catch up.
So, all in all should be a reasonably frugal weekend.

Wolfcub · 16/03/2019 08:15

Jam at least if you’re going to that city if things get desperate there’s plenty decent coffee and cake (or a cocktail if you need one). Good luck!

Hair cut shortly, It’s chucking it down so I will be a ball of frizz straight after. Going to play a few games with ds and then a quick beer with friends (ds’s friend also). Will also try and watch the rugby.

Wreck I’m also not an Asda fan but it has a lot to do with one of the cleaning products they use. I have a very sensitive nose and something they use to clean with in Asda turns my stomach, has done since I was a kid and I used to go with my friend and her family

WreckTangled · 16/03/2019 08:17

Jam my colleague was talking about prom dresses this week. Apparently all the ships she visited last weekend told her if she didn't order by this weekend it would be too late. She thought she had loads of time!

LonelyOversharer · 16/03/2019 08:31

Ah jam prom pain...dd1 has her yr11 one in June. We are making a dress, dip dyeing (the girl spends way to long on pintrest). I think your dd has a similar problem to mine, off the peg does not fit or flatter big bust slim body. I will buy her a very constructive piece of underwear and build the required dress onto it! I have no idea when the time to do this will appear from.

Asda is my go to for crap. And a few bits of branded stuff. Otherwise (now I don't buy tonnes of baby clothes yay ) the other shops are cheaper. If I bought big packs of beer or cider, then asda is your shop for that too, but I don't.

Today is a trip to the Range, as we kind of did the food shop last night. £20 Macdonalds for tea, £35 Lidl and £25 Tesco. We went out for tea, so why not grab the weekly food at the same time. Was wierd being in empty shops in the dark. Oh, and £11 in the pet shop on frozen mice and dog biscuits.

Can any of you believe that I have been working full time for 8 months this week?!!! It has gone by in a flash, and I really enjoy going every day, now I've got used to the people/being in a workplace.

Cagliostro · 16/03/2019 09:23

Wow lonely that’s gone quickly! I’m so pleased for you 💐

Jam can’t wait to hear what kind of dress DD gets. Sorry DH is in a bad phase too :( yep, the adjustments for DH would basically mean they’d have to employ an extra person really. As they were always short on the late shift (a whole other thread really, they always put loads of people on in the morning, even though the delivery was in the evening... still, not DH’s problem anymore :o). It was different for me, there were enough staff that me avoiding one particular task on one day (when the delivery was biggest) was no big deal. I also had a chair for one thing where most stood.

Volunteering with Caglets today. Got major housework to do as well. Must buy chocolate for DLA form... :o

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/03/2019 09:24

Well I thought you would have plenty of choice in your city jam. Don't forget she can wear it to the Freshers ball too.
8 months lonely, wow. Time flies

RoseMartha · 16/03/2019 09:37

I dont like asda either, use Aldi, Morrisons and Tesco.

@WreckTangled No all still in family home but I have been sleeping on the floor for over a year. My stbex has the bed. He has refused to leave and I am stuck for financial reasons. But recently a charity have started to offer me support and advice about renting. Recently he said he might move out in next month or so but he will not commit to a decision.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 16/03/2019 10:03

Morning all and welcome Rose.

Have caught up, and I hope all of those who are having a hard time, things get sorted sooner rather than later.

Haven't been posting much because, well life is just a bit stressful atm.

Me and Dd2 will be going to my sister's later as it was my nephews birthday on Thurs, so that will be nice.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/03/2019 11:23

We are still here for you curvy. Have you told p?
