Out with the dc letting them spend their Christmas money. I asked the guy in fat face if I could have an nhs discount as they do student and armed forces. He said he shouldn't but he would Grin

AdoraBell · 21/02/2019 12:45

Thanks for the sympathy and good wishes.

DH still to-ing and fro-ing, I can’t face looking at his spends.

I’ve over spent this week, accidentally added 3 x 🍷 and 2 x ice-cream in the shopping, so that was over £100 😱

Sneaky that Morrison’s receipt, you will try to get that £1,000 voucher, yes?

Lovemaltesers · 21/02/2019 14:35

Just submitted the last bit of my assignment that is due next week. This means I've now completed 50% of my course Smile

Now waiting to go for my smear test. Urggh, but a necessity.

WreckTangled · 21/02/2019 14:46

Well I let the dc loose and they spent well.

Personal spends:

£16 Nando's
£10 primark
£2 tiger
£7 parking Shock bloody Surrey prices
£15 padded cycling leggings

Cagliostro · 21/02/2019 14:56

I always forget to do those receipt survey things.

Not heard of that sneaky I shall have a google. I watched abducted in plain sight this morning, fucking hell I am largely unshockable but wow😰😡😱

Exercise bike arrived! Woo!

Girliefriendlikescake · 21/02/2019 15:05

Dd got that book girlie and the free one that came with it. I meant to go into card factory and stock up but didn't want to drag the dc in there when they'd been so good.

I also saw these awesome stairs in white stuff.

Sorry to hear that wolf :( anything particular? Does he struggle with the change in routine for half term etc

moimichme · 21/02/2019 19:28

Sorry to hear that too, Wolf. My own ds is driving me mad overnight lately, since he keeps waking in the night and shouting No over and over, and taking ages to settle down dammit I'm tired and want to sleep too and has been extra tired during the day, too. He slept for 3 hours this afternoon - unheard of! Shock

Nsd and the house is reasonably clean and tidy because our landlady has visited today. Grin

Hope everyone is well.

There's a tube of Pringles in this bag but I just can't bear to move him!

Bless you wolf, I swear half term is sent to try our patience.

em. Can I just say that from an employer point of view, the fact you are prepared to be flexible and offering solutions for their reservations, while asking for an hours reduction, I'd really appreciate. Having a bit of a torrid time with an employee at present and it's adding to my personal workload significantly and causing issues to a stable team.

Today.
NSD
Yesterday
£40 Ocado with £8 milk for work.

My hours increase is likely to be permanent so I've asked the cleaners for another hour.

em - none of my business, but wondered if you'd consider a cleaner for the first year of DC2, for your own sake re MH. Just at least having a cleaned house weekly takes a massive stress away, there's still plenty to do believe me! Ignore if you want, but for me, it's money well spent beyond description. 😁

Wolfcub · 21/02/2019 21:18

Ahh Wreck that’s so cute.

ememem84 · 21/02/2019 21:21

just a cleaner is on the list. Don’t you worry. I’ve told dh it’s a necessity. Even if it’s once a fortnight. It’s a must.

Neither of us are trying hard enough if I’m honest. But at present I’m still not 100% from being off last week and am so tired. I cba to do anything.

This weekend though I will change our bedding. And will put away all my clean clothes. And find the bottom of the laundry hamper.

The most energetic bit of that will be changing sheets. But needs to be done. I might ask dh to do it.

ememem84 · 21/02/2019 21:23

£44 topshop on maternity jeans.

£99(!) on an order from jojo maman. I accidentally ordered 5 packs of maternity knickers. I may send some back or may keep and just cull my undies drawer. Also in the order was a white too.

Unescorted · 21/02/2019 21:35

I'm back!!!

Dodgy Russian bots on the hotel wifi so I decided not to risk it and then didn't get back til late last night.

When I leave in the morning the bed is still occupied so I make it just before I get back into it. It does feel better. It feels good to be in it now....

My commiserations to those who don't get a full uninterrupted night's sleep. DD went projectile last night (self inflicted so nooooooo sympathy). I spent a good hour at 4 in the morning clearing up the dinner I had lovingly cooked when I had got home. It was truly grim and spag bol is now off the menu. She is contrite. I am grumpy and tired.

wolf I hope Monday comes soon enough for you.

Hi Happy although I think to avoid confusion we may have to call you heels if that is ok? Good savings on the broadband btw.

Sneaky have you checked in Wilko's for seeds - their own brand ones are really cheap compared to others. Morrisons are good for seedlings and bulbs.
Also have you tried splitting your train ticket at HG? Sometimes you can get a cheaper deal. Also see if you can get off peak one - you can catch any trains after 9am on the way in and on the way back just avoid the 4- 7pm slots. I will have a look through my ticket collection and see if I have any valid unused ones that will get you as far as NM on the way back. Work always book mine from NM but I use my season ticket so I end up with unused tickets.

Unescorted · 21/02/2019 21:37

You have to be a very cute cat to sleep on the Pringles.

SneakyGremlins · 21/02/2019 23:32

£10 at B+Q and £1.95 in the discount.

Unescorted I didn't know that about HG, will look into it! Was just going to get an off peak (9:50 train) open return for £10.

ChristmasSeacow · 22/02/2019 05:00

Hello!

Checking out of the first resort soon after a lovely restful 48 hours. Heading to the next hotel shortly, which will be our base for the next 3 nights including the wedding parties.

Defo agree about having a cleaner! I didn’t when DD was a baby as I wasn’t working /earning but it was rather stressful trying to stay on top of cleaning when MIL was due to visit with a baby and ds (who was then toilet training and very high needs). I only got one when I was laid up with a slipped disc but since going back to work it’s a necessity! Two young kids are a lot more work than one... I found it much harder to get stuff done than with just ds. And I put a lot of my ‘domestic time’ into cooking and washing, if I have to clean a lot then we eat less well. Simple as that.

Hope dh gets that new job Cag 🤞🏻

Are you new Happyinheels or a name changer? Apologies for being a bit confused (though I had clocked that you were not our Happier!)

Not hugely frugal here. Second flight was only 4 hours and not too busy so overall we had a good journey. But we went to the boutique clothing shop my friend recommended straight from the airport... and it was lovely but a bit of an ordeal for me. They were very keen to sell me very embroidered /encrusted lehengas and dresses (which were £800+ 😮😮😮) so I had to steer them well away from that! I had a lot of people dancing attendance on me, which I always find rather awkward in a sales context. I am very British, I like to browse anonymously and slink off quietly when everything is too small /expensive Grin.

Anyway, I got an embroidered salwar kameez (tunic /trousers combo) for tomorrow and a sari for Sunday. They are making me a blouse and underskirt and I am picking it all up today. It was a bit more than I hoped to spend (around £200) but nowhere near as much as the shop wanted me to spend! I am not sure I’ll ever wear them again but the fabrics are beautiful so if all else fails I’ll make them into something else Grin.

The place we’ve been staying is a small resort built on the banks of a huge lake and in an area irrigated with lots of beautiful canals. This was the view on the boat journey from the roadside dock to the resort, which can only be reached by boat. It’s so beautiful here and DH is in birdwatching heaven (the reason we came here!). We have a little cabin in the grounds, with a little sitting room and a four poster bed (which is so high we need a step to get into it). Best thing about it though is that we have an outside bathroom! It is literally open to the stars and there’s a banana tree growing in it! I am rather sorry to leave Grin

I'm very jealous.

I'm also starving.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/02/2019 06:35

Sea that's beautiful.
Sorry to hear work is tough jam.
Hey unescorted. .
I'm interviewing a new cleaner next week. Missed having one.

Nsd planned today. Though I might need a shlep to Aldi but we really don't need any more food yet

SnugglySnerd · 22/02/2019 06:40

Morning all!

Sorry I've completely fallen off the thread this week. Half term has been so busy! Looks like you've all been busy. I've just had a very quick catch up.

I'm annoyed with myself that I've managed to entertain the kids for free all week but have spent a fortune on food. About double our normal weekly shop. Not eating out or anything, just being disorganised and changing plans last minute and going to the local and very expensive shop for top-ups as it was less effort than getting all the dcs in the car to drive to a supermarket.
Next week is definitely a using up the cupboards week!

It's been a lovely week though. It's gone so fast! Lovely weather here so at least the heating has been off in the day and the washing has been out on the line.
