I missed the bit about a date! How exciting Grin

ememem84 · 16/02/2019 09:51

Home from the vet. Catface is 4.9kg has had her claws clipped and has had a working tablet. Also picked up flea treatment. £58.

Dh is working on the bathroom cabinet I bought.

Happierwithouthim · 16/02/2019 10:05

Thanks gals

This morning is decluttering & dumping time in my room, then lunchtime meet a friend for a walk & talk on beach, gym, waxing & home for some mommy tv time before dc arrive home at 6!

Lovemaltesers · 16/02/2019 11:04

Date! How exciting happier Smile

Went out to the shops to get some new work clothes. But either too short or too tight or too frumpy Confused so nothing bought.

£25 Sainsbury's
£3 Boots

DP needs to buy SIL a present. If he'd told me what to buy I would have got something. This leaving him to buy his family gifts is still proving quite stressful!

Unescorted · 16/02/2019 11:17

Wolf how did you get sunny and crisp and all we got is not cold but overcast? It isn't raining so I will take advantage and tickle the garden. sneaky what did you put in your propagators.

Sea Sorry you are having a hard time with ds. I agree with others that it doesn't derail the thread. It is not as if any one else has had support on this thread for anything other than how to live more frugally … Wink

em you are right sitting in a car for 45 minutes on a sunny afternoon is such a waste. I have loved cycling home this week - it has been a real joy. The dark mornings not so fab but still much better than the bus.

happier that is sooooo cute. If you ever need a new home for her just let me know I will start the adoption process.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 16/02/2019 11:22

Morning all.
Thanks wolf and wreck.
Happier, ooh how exciting, glad you had a good time.
sea, you do a brilliant job with your ds, your posts are always so full of love, please don't doubt yourself x

Edinburgh is cold! We are going to explore different parts of it, dd has been here 3 years now and knows where all the best places are.
We will be visiting Glasgow during the week, so that will be good.
Hope everyone has a great day x

Happierwithouthim · 16/02/2019 11:53

Very jealous curvy I love Edinburgh

Just found 2 Thomas kinnane calendars from a trip there, will pick my favourite and put other one with all h's stuff

Unescorted Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/02/2019 12:33

£173 food. Cupboards and freezer bulging though.
Pleased it's going well happier.
£10 riding lesson in a bit.
Enjoy Edinburgh and Glasgow. Such different cities

northender · 16/02/2019 13:35

Just read back the last couple of days.
Cag so sorry about your dh's diagnosis. I work with a couple of very good rheumatology physios, message me if I can ask any questions/find anything out.
Seacow sending you virtual hugs. It seems to me you are doing an amazing job with ds, but I can't imagine how wearing and challenging it must be.
Curvy enjoy Edinburgh.
Life I hope the new role will be less stressful for you
unescorted on the mumsnet map in my head I think I'm about 50 miles NW of you and it's crisp and sunny here too so you've definitely dipped out today.
jam happy anniversary
Girlie handing your notice in must make it seem much more real, how exciting!
Nothing much to report here. Went shopping with dh yesterday for bits and bobs of clothes, probably about £100 in total but we got quite a few things for that. Had lunch out £20 and went out for a few drinks last night, so a spendy day.
Did a circuits class this morning. Dh has gone to football to watch his team, ds is at a cricket academy session & then goes to Tobago in the morning. I so wish we were going this time, but because England are playing the West Indies at the moment, flights and accommodation were just too expensive for us. We have paid £1k for ds' trip which includes flights, accommodation, tour kit, all meals, transport etc which seems a good price to me.
So fish pie for tea tonight (ds' favourite) and then an early night before an early start to the airport in the morning.

ememem84 · 16/02/2019 13:38

Riding done. Phew. Different instructor today. Told her I’m preggo and the first thing she wanted to do was to prevent me from doing anything other than at a walk. I asked her to let me decide. And I’d have a go and if I felt I couldn’t do it/didn’t want to I’d let her know. #sensible #donttellmewhaticantdo

Taking the recycling to the recycling place later. Just having a nice lunch. Pasta. Spinach. Cheese. Yum.

SneakyGremlins · 16/02/2019 14:05

Worker took me out for lunch Smile

Lovely little pub in Chapel!

Frugal win = washing hung outside for the first time in 2019

OP posts:
moimichme · 16/02/2019 15:01

We should have done that, too, Wolf, but have been too disorganised and relaxed today. I had a lovely birthday lunch with DH and ds, and then yesterday we bought £84 of groceries. Shock To be fair, the fridge and freezer were almost bare beforehand! But hoping for not too many more large spends until the end of the month now.

Take care everyone, and hope you're enjoying a relaxing weekend so far.

Justanothermile · 16/02/2019 15:24

Oh a date! How exciting happier. However it turns out - good to have some fun and a giggle.

Enjoy Edinburgh curvy and seeing DD.

Love a circuits class north.

Those wraps look fab sneaky, hope you enjoyed lunch out.

Did I miss your birthday moi, sorry - Happy Birthday!

Spends today.
-£150 refund from carpet store and the underlay we had was fine and we were charged for new.
-£80 rug back to Next.
£11.50 Boots.
£49 M&S
£20.47 feed shop for chicken feed and bedding.

We are at a friends tonight for a takeaway, so likely £20. I'm driving and will have a veg pizza, no cheese.

Parkrun this morning - 21.22 was my time. Cool. 3rd female. Many marathon miles are paying off.

Cagliostro · 16/02/2019 15:29

Managed to Potter around the house a bit today, yay! Sorted some bits with the storage things I’d bought ages ago.

Wondering if an exercise bike would be a useful thing. We have plenty of space in our room.

Justanothermile · 16/02/2019 15:34

I've got towels out wolf.

Ggreengrass1 · 16/02/2019 16:29

Washing out here too..it always makes me happy.

Happierwithouthim · 16/02/2019 16:57

It's raining here so no washing out but I got my walk in while it was nice so I'm ok, actually no washing done cos h has been hogging machine all day but I'm not too fussed, tomorrow's another day.

Em go you, telling instructor what's what

North that sounds pretty good price for your ds's trip

€10.82 on prescription
€2.50 on toothpaste for ds, he doesn't like minty, it's hard to find toothpaste that isn't.
€6.20 on milk, almond milk & a Pepsi max for me, was meant to be out tonight & I'm not so this is my substitute

Thanks life & jam

MeadowHay · 16/02/2019 17:08

Malteasers I have the same issue. I've spoke to DH about it loads of times and he always gets upset and apologises but then still doesn't sort things, and then when he's rushing about last minute to get stuff that's still stressful and inconvenient for me, and it's also stressful for me when I remember one of his family members has a birthday very soon and I know he hasn't sorted anything for them yet and if they don't get something it will reflect badly on us, and I think that's particularly unfair with certain of his relatives that always remember our birthdays and are generous with gifts etc, so I think I don't want them not to have nothing just because DH is so rubbish at sorting it! It's a minefield, I never know what to do.

Fun fact: I was born in Edinburgh Grin.

Wolf Our washing has also gone outside for the first time today! Feeling chuffed, I hate winter, the weather's been lovely the last few days so I feel so much happier in general.

Spent £18 getting threaded. May do an online grocery shop after DD has gone to bed but not sure might just go the shop tomorrow with DH... just done loads of housework today really. I spent literally hours on it and there's still loads to do Confused. We are having house guests for a bit next week and unlikely to get much time to do stuff in the week as DH is at uni so need to try and get as much done as possible now.

Thatsnotmybaby · 16/02/2019 17:56

Spends today :
£128 on paint.
And whatever I spend on night out tonight.

Congratulations on your anniversary @Justanothermile; bathroom plans sound exciting.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 16/02/2019 17:57

Evening all.
Had a good first day!
Thank you all.
Anyway spends £5.10 on coffee and juice.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/02/2019 19:16

£56 on dinner as dh away from tomorrow. £13 Waterstones and probably the same again in the cafe.
Not a frugal day.

Hit me with your best Dahl recipe. I have pulses of varying kind and lentils and chickpeas.

LonelyOversharer · 16/02/2019 19:25

We have had en exceptionally spendy day

It goes like this...
£1100 Ikea. My teal sofa!!! I got it! 3 seater. Arm chair for dp, better for his back than the 2 seater when he tried them both. 0% for a year, so £85/month. Arriving on friday, yippee.
£160 Ikea (real money) big rug, all blue and turquoise, few bits and bobs.
£120 Costco. Not tonnes of stuff, but things we needed and use all the time.
£2399 Mazda 2. It will pay for itself in 18 months in fuel, tax and insurance alone. RX8 sorned.
£120 tax for car, 1 year, upfront.
£150 insurance for car, 1 year, upfront.
£98 (holy shit) on 3, just 3 bras. One for me, 2 for dd1. I had one that fits, she had two that have popped the wires this week. Debenhams, Fantasie. They suit our shape. Debenhams store card. Got £5 off (whoop) and pay back at £30/month.
£8 lunch, £8 starbucks, £11 bodyshop (smelled like being a teenager again), £10 sainsburys.

So, one of my most spendy days, like ever. The car I will tart to a 0% asap, and pay back in full before it runs out. The tax and insurance and rug I will cover from paypal.

This saves dp £90/month before we even think about fuel twice the milage for the same fuel and he is free to tinker with his car now. And I feel happier that my dc are tucked up in a nice 1-lady-owner hatchback, not a sports car loosely disguised as a family car, and we have the illusive 5th seatbelt!

What a day.
All planned. All accounted for. I loves you lot. I would never have planned and thought things through so clearly before this thread ♥️

Cagliostro · 16/02/2019 19:32

That’s awesome lonely! I think sooo much more about purchases now generally thanks to this lovely lot.

Glad you had a good day curvy
