Orzo is a bit like risotto imo
Mortgage definitely cheaper than renting here too.
I am ten years in my job on a busy reception type job, it took me almost a year realise & to cut out phone calls to friends in the evenings, I'm just talked out after being tied to a phone basically from 7.15am to 5.30pm Grin I would consider myself neurotypical but perhaps I'm not Hmm

I did a single application for credit card & they rang to discuss everything including joint mortgage etc and I was approved! It's 6 months 0% balance transfer but 9 months 0% money transfer so it's this option I'm going to go for. It brings me to July. So I will transfer to my bank account & then pay & close 2 credit cards, I will keep one with my bank account as it's on my internet banking so easily managed. I will clear it's balance too though.

I've decided to start a spreadsheet of grocery items & list items according to shop and price. Found that Tesco 53c jar of pasta sauce onion & garlic is absolutely gorgeous so will be purchased again.
I want to simplify my fridge/cupboards/freezer now that's it's just me, dc and au pair. We were buying 3 sliced pans a week, we've used half a one this fortnight!
14 litres of milk a week is down to just 3! Now I know dc eat a couple of times per week at h's so that's part of the reason.

Today I paid €50 on cc, direct debits went out but no physical spends.

Our vitamins arrived with a 25% discount code which is valid for two months.

ememem84 · 12/10/2018 19:05

cag it’s obviously not every place but that’s the average for a 3 bed house rental wise. Insane.

We’ve been and are so so happy.

It will be a lovely home for us. Dparents have been to visit and they’ve said it’ll be a lovely home.

kit

Keep them to one side incase there's an issue. They go in quicker than depositing them in branch as well. Its so much more convenient.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 12/10/2018 19:20

Hi everyone
Thanks for the new thread em and HUGE congratulations on the house 🍾

Well we got outstanding on our Ofsted report so we have maintained, which is very good news.

Have been super busy here with studying, but I'm almost finished and then I will be a qualified Early Years Educator.

Hope you get the answers you need Daize

On the previous thread some of you mentioned containers that keep your lunches fresh for a week, please can someone link to them?

QuiteFabULousDahling · 12/10/2018 19:23

Thats a rather nasty thing to say Summer when everyone has tried to help you so much.
Pleae do take your health issues off thread.
Best thing all round .

WreckTangled · 12/10/2018 19:34

Dh came home from work with three chocolate oranges for me (down to 75p in Tesco). He doesn't usually buy me things so I'm assuming it's his way of apologising without actually having to say anything

Oh and WreckCat brought in a mouse. He was very pleased with himself.

LonelyOversharer · 12/10/2018 19:34

em massive congratulations!!! You got there. Ace xx

cag just put takeaway containers into amazon. They are pennies. I have some great litre sized ones that takes 3-4 portions of pasta sauce. Dishwash, freeze, microwave, repeat.

My mortgage has finally been approved! So money in by tuesday latest. Then I will be credit card debt free, and go from 20% apr to 3%. I think I'll cry once I'm sorted out.

Dd1 and I took the dogs to the vets for their boosters. It was torrentially raining, and all I can say about it is that if there are any lurkers on here who were in my vets at 5pm tonight then I sincerely apologise for any trauma we caused!! Dd and I are completely exhausted. Am already in bed! £122. We have to go back in 3 weeks. I'm dreading it already Grin

LonelyOversharer · 12/10/2018 19:37

Oh, any my visla is lean, my spaniel (cocker, show type, thick as mince) is faaaat. Both are insanely loud when out of their comfort zone!

Cagliostro · 12/10/2018 19:43

I’d rather have a chocolate orange than a mouse. Unless it was one of those chocolate mice with strawberry filling in Thornton’s 🤔

Thanks for the orzo info, maybe I could get DS to eat that then, he does eat rice but not in risotto. Something to think about.

DH is doing home made turkey nuggets when he gets in, we forgot to do a Tesco order yesterday and since we are still in our midweek delivery saver we can’t do one till Tuesday now. So trying to use up stuff. It’s a late dinner on Fridays for the rest of the year unfortunately - DD has her first ballet exam in December but she’s joined the next class as well until then to start learning the syllabus for the next grade (she started very late - almost 10y - so trying to catch her up a bit). So double ballet (they aren’t charging us for both though which is rather lovely!). At least from new year onwards, she won’t be doing grade 1 anymore, so we can have dinner before she leaves for the grade 2 class.

Thanks for the info on the tubs as well. I think it was sistema that someone mentioned last thread? They do have a good rep generally.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 12/10/2018 19:50

Thanks cag, I was just wondering if there was a certain type, we have a few sistema ones, but if I knew it would keep it fresh for a few days in the fridge I would invest in more.
Also cag I really liked what you said to Daize about the ASD, you have given me a few ideas for work 😊

Cagliostro · 12/10/2018 19:56

Aw thanks curvy 💐 I know I go on a bit (ok a lot 😳😂) sometimes but I do try and be open about my difficulties as if it helps even one person then that’s great. Not sure what job you do but always happy to chat/answer questions if you need a sounding board for ideas etc 🙂

Wolfcub · 12/10/2018 19:58

Lonely so pleased your mortgage is nearly through and I’m so happy there are other spaniel lovers on the thread.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 12/10/2018 20:01

Thats such good news Lonely
Whole fresh start ahead Smile
What you knitting ?
Am just trying to finish a wretched sock -so bored of it now .Round and round 😂
Is your Visla smooth or rough?

mammynowanauntyIRL · 12/10/2018 20:08

Lonely I'm absolutely chuffed for you, that's epic news Grin

I didn't realise I liked spaniels but after seeing jams maybe I do after all. I'm not a small dog person but I'm thinking practically for next dog, knowing our lovely dog won't live forever.
I'm hoping next dog will be one that could run with me, my friends dog runs with us often.

Justanothermile · 12/10/2018 20:09

Pah, call yourself a Spaniel lover wolf, where were you this afternoon in the wind and the rain? Grin

cag, you don't go on! You are a very warm and genuine person. And you manage brilliantly with a pretty full on life!

lonely, I've closed my spaniels ears but I adore Vizlas. They are incredibly handsome dogs. So regal.

What did DH do to warrant an apology wreck?Smile

curvy, brilliant news re the inspection, well done!! And on the EYE qualification.

Get bloody knitting quite, that sock won't make itself. #pegleg Grin

WreckTangled · 12/10/2018 20:12

Oh he's just being a grump and leaving me to do all the running around because he works more than me Hmm

Lonely that's brilliant news Smile

QuiteFabULousDahling · 12/10/2018 20:15

Rude Just Rude #shortarse

QuiteFabULousDahling · 12/10/2018 20:20

mammy
Not sure what dog you have now ?
Spaniels are lovely, bouncy and bonkers mostly .
Ours was such a sweetheart ,adopted a litter of kittens and had her ears pegged up to eat as they flopped in her dinner .
Grin

LonelyOversharer · 12/10/2018 20:32

I have a single rainbow striped sock quite if you'd like that to make a pair?! I'm honestly never going to finish it's mate.

Currently got 3 on the go, an entrelac scarf for dd2 (never tried this before, it's good), nativity figures (must, must sew up...) and am crocheting a big door draught blocking blanket using a lot of aran I bought to knit a coat (that was never going to progress beyond a pipedream!). Colour not good on the photo, it's all teals, turquoises and purples, aiming for an ombrè type thing. Loving the icicle stitch.

My old boy visla is smooth, and huge as we never got him done. I'll try to get a decent pic of him if it ever stops raining this weekend. mammy my (fat) spaniel can run all day at about 9mph!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 12/10/2018 20:40

Great news lonely.

Thank you Jam, I had my kids young, stayed at home, volunteered in their schools, got offered a part time position in the yougests nursery, then went to full time, doing various cover.
Last year they said they could offer me an apprenticeship, but warned me the pay was low, it really is! And I'm not guaranteed a job come January, but it will give me a level 3 that I can take with me and 4 years experience. I would love to stay there as it is a brilliant nursery (and we won the inclusion mark earlier this year), but I'm under no illusions and I know the market is tough and I will be forever grateful to them as being almost 40, many other nurseries would prefer youngsters.

Cag, you don't go on! As you have probably gathered I work in a nursery and we have a fair few children with ASD, with varying levels and your post made me see things differently, which is a good thing. We, as practitioners, are trusted with these children and if I can understand them just a bit better, then hopefully I can make a small difference to their day

QuiteFabULousDahling · 12/10/2018 20:43

Thanks for the sock offer Lonely but Ill pass 😂
Desperate to do something else now!
Love those colours in the pic.
Entrelac is really clever -I love how it turns out so nicely .

WreckTangled · 12/10/2018 20:47

Curvy that's really great. I take it you could also do a TA role with that qualification? It'll open lots of doors I'm sure.

Wolfcub · 12/10/2018 20:49

£30 superdry Xmas presents for ds in the sale also 8% cash back through quidco

Wolfcub · 12/10/2018 20:53

I’m crocheting a shawl, might do some more of it on Sunday whilst ds is busy. Lonely your draft excluder thing sounds lovely.

I couldn’t knit a sock if I tried
This is my dog-brother and my fat thighs Grin

Cagliostro · 12/10/2018 21:03

Ah that’ll teach me for not catching up with the thread before posting 😳😂 yes now I see what you do curvy and that’s fab news too!

DH is taking some games into work tomorrow for an event thing. Not the special ones though as I’d probably have to kill him if he did that.

Spendy tomorrow as I’m going clothes shopping for the Caglets. Primark Morrison’s etc. Obviously I’ve lost the list I wrote 🤦‍♀️😂
