Has anyone else seen the new money insight section on the nationwide banking app. Very much like a third party money app I used to have. Really pleased to see banks getting on board with this. Currently telling me I spent more on food than normal last month

kitkat6 · 11/10/2018 21:48

em best if luck for tomorrow and enjoy your new home. We got lots of bargains from facebook when we moved in including a £20 chest freezer.

Must avoid popping to the shops for essentials as I always end up buying chocolate which is neither good for the wallet or the waistline. Next week is my busy week for direct debits so could do with a couple of outstanding invoices being paid sooner rather than later. The only good thing about them being late paying is that I have eaked my money out for longer than I normally would.

Just finished off my ocado food shop for tomorrow which came in at under £50 after the £10 voucher was taken off. Also booked my xmas delivery spot for xmas eve.

SummerDaize · 11/10/2018 21:52

Cag and Girlie thanks for your kind words on the last thread. I appreciate it.

I keep thinking I'm being frugal at the moment because I'm not buying things, but then I realised how much I am spending on music lessons. They really mount up don't they? I must make sure not to witter during the lessons and that we actually learn the stuff that we want to know.

Wolfcub · 11/10/2018 22:02

I missed ewfl earlier so I’m watching on catch up with Wine

AdoraBell · 11/10/2018 22:18

Love Catface’s face em 😁😍 thanks for news thread.

Wolfcub · 11/10/2018 22:22

I’m sorry but 8 fat cod fillets from the fishmonger may be yummy but it’s not fecking frugal

thistimenextsummer · 11/10/2018 22:25

Haha are you me wolf? Also watching ewfl - just coming to the end... never mashed actual potato before 😳?!!

thistimenextsummer · 11/10/2018 22:32

£141 pw saved??? This programme should be renamed AYHAFL

Cagliostro · 11/10/2018 22:34

Ooh I forgot it was on today. We were catching up with bake off

QuiteFabULousDahling · 11/10/2018 22:35

Thanks for the new thread emSmile
new name

Have missed lots ,not likely to catch up.

Ugh this week -am so over it .nuff said
Aaah catface and spaniels 😍

Exciting newsem will be flicking between the thread and Eugenies wedding tomorrowGrin
Lonely thats such great news Smile
Lovely to have things like that to look forward to -Well done !

Im a packed lunch demon.
Wash boxes as soon as we get in and do them while dinner cooks - like a mini production line #sorted
Everything is done before dinner and then I can relax.
I couldnt cope with faffing around in the mornings plus I like them properly chilled.

I think sometimes the more time you have the longer things take as you can expand them to fit the time.

Cagliostro · 11/10/2018 22:37

This :o good alternative programme name. I really liked last week’s episode, felt more like a realistic family with the prioritising kids and being too knackered to cook etc. But then I missed being able to splutter in indignation at them. Swings and roundabouts eh?

Love the new name quite got any faves this series?

AdoraBell · 11/10/2018 22:38

I’ve given up watching ewfl. I know people can get into a rut/not taught to cook/fussy eating DC, but I find myself getting annoyed with a lot of the programmes. I watched Gino, Gordon and Fred (might not be right order) on ITV. At least those chefs know the cost of food and how not to waste it. Even if they do buy the best diamond encrusted fillet steak.

SummerDaize · 11/10/2018 22:38

What do you put in them Quite?

Cagliostro · 11/10/2018 22:41

I think sometimes the more time you have the longer things take as you can expand them to fit the time.

I think you’re onto something there, the whole “want something done ask a busy person” thing. I reeeally want to learn to be like that!

Mimena · 11/10/2018 22:59

Signing in, having dropped off the last few days. Fingers crossed for tomorrow em.

Got ewfl recorded, so will watch in the next few days when DH can pay attention! Actually, it would be good to get the DC to watch, maybe they can start to nag us like they do about the recycling!

Wolfcub · 11/10/2018 23:01

Thistime I completely agree on the title I’ve just got to the end. I liked the family. I thought they were sort of trying to do the right thing by spending time with the kids and buying from the butchers but the big brands and the little micro pots of beans always make me want to cry.

I’ve managed to really make myself sad but doing some Xmas food shopping (rather than just the booze I slung in to get the a lot). I feel like I want to run away, it’s just going to be awful no matter how many people are trying to rally round me over the holidays and bloody love Christmas. It’s also a friends 40th and the celebrations are plastered all over Facebook - I’m on the 39 bench and just feel like 40 is going to be a lonely day. AnywY I’m having a pity party so I’m going to bed. Someone send me a springer to cuddle

northender · 11/10/2018 23:04

marking place. thanks for the new thread Em

ChristmasSeacow · 11/10/2018 23:36

Aw Wolf Flowers. It’s fine to feel sorry for yourself, we all need to wallow sometimes. I hope your 40th turns out to be a pleasant surprise... I’d make you a cake if you were closer. I hope you manage to enjoy a little of Christmas too

Summer I know exactly what you mean about having your child’s problems set down in black and white. I get that feeling with every school report, progress meeting etc and even though there are no surprises I always feel rather crestfallen, even winded, by the experience. It’s great that your DS can see the value of his strengths though.

Cag hope you feel better soon, I am sure hormones play a role.

Exciting times Em, enjoy your champagne tomorrow! On loft insulation, a word of caution all round... we really went for it and got the thick stuff put in but we've had an awful condensation problem up there ever since. It’s stained ceilings on the floor below. Grrr.

Well, work was fine today, met a lot of people whose names I can’t remember. The new shoes were okay-ish, I made it home without breaking any skin at least Wink. DD was good at nursery today by all accounts but she seems a bit cross and clingy towards me. She’ll get over it.

I am so tired tonight, must sleep. Hey to the returning old friends Laska and Quite

SummerDaize · 12/10/2018 00:07

Thanks Christmas. Yes it's just like that. I think it must be quite a hard job to be a senco.

I find it very interesting that medical treatment for children is so heavily co-ordinated from schools rather than GP surgeries here. I really had no idea that it would be like that until we were quite well into primary school. I think a lot of my friends also don't know, and many of them have kids who ought to being getting help with various things.

ememem84 · 12/10/2018 06:35

quite I’d agree with that. Dh is a classic for that.

But I’m getting on board with getting things done straight away.

Ds’ nursery bag for example. Come home empty it, wash bottle(s), dry, put one back in the bag, the other on counter for milk the next morning. Nappies replaced, clothes checked, new clothes added if needed, new outfit ready for morning. It takes all of 15 minutes of an evening. But somehow 15 hours in the mornings when we’re in a rush.

I spend an hour getting things ready for me the night before too. Outfit, bag, and when we move will have to do lunch too (salads, leftovers etc).

It’s just being organised. And sticking to it.

Nice sleep last night. Have so much to do this morning. Work wise and personal. So am sacking off a tax seminar. I’m excited about this afternoon. And nervous. But all I have to do is wait for my name to be called in court right hand up and we’re done. Eeeek!!!

Big spend day. Today. No getting away from it. Helloooooo mortgage.

That sounds good Em. I think I'm trying to do the opposite at the moment. CremeEggThief told me about pacing to recover from CFS and I think that basically means doing the opposite of what you are doing.

Instead of being blisteringly efficient all the time, and I am learning to go slowly and to cut out as much workload as possible, by any means possible. It really helps a lot when I manage to cut out enough that I can just go and sit down for a while all day and rest.

Bornlazy · 12/10/2018 06:51

Congratulations em 🎉 exciting day for you. Is the freezer for inside the house or in the garage?

Summer I think lots of people are unaware of what schools can offer and unfortunately some children get overlooked. It’s even worse by the time they go to high school 😨

Quite I always do more when I’m busy it’s like a crash and burn thing. When my ds was at nursery I could fit more into those three hours than I now can in six.

SummerDaize · 12/10/2018 06:53

born yes it's a real shame isn't it? Is there any way to find out online, do you think? We still have three years to go, and I'd like to do the best I can for ds while we have these years available.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 12/10/2018 07:03

So excited for you em Smile
Oh crikey yes Im a doer .
Just get on with it !
DH isused to be a procrastinator.
Im just going down for coffee and have taken a day off again to use up leave.
While coffee is brewing Ill empty the bins and put all the lids in the DW plus food composting bin then mop the floor, leave to dry while I enjoy my coffee.
DH did all the hoovering and mopping of the other floors yest so will clean fridge out and go shopping later.
Bed linen will be in the washer before I go...
I dont want to live in a messy house nor spend all my time thinking about chores or doing them so I crack on!
Summer all the usual lunch things -wraps,cheese and oatcakes, chopped veg ,cous cous with salad, eggs ,tuna etc
Fruit chopped sometimes with thick yoghurt.
The only rule is we all have the same .
Im not pissing about making what everyone fancies that day.
I think its the same everywhere now Summer as all DC with a statement have moved to EHC so that education, health and social care come together ??
Not my specialist area though .
As regards Strictly GrinGlitterball
Ack tricky -Ashley is a pro and while I love Pasha I think they might be a shock exit over the next few weeks.
I like Joe and Kate -lots of enthuisiasm (sp no glasses)there plus we all like a tryer.
Seann Confused Thats going to be cringey to say the least !

Bornlazy · 12/10/2018 07:04

I think you are in a good place summer as you have lots of communication with the school, but if you don’t know that something is available then you don’t know that you’re missing out. Maybe the special needs boards might have some useful advice.
