I don’t think you do need the packaging if it’s faulty Cag

Rustic bunting, btw. The bird. Not sighted today though so doesn’t look as though DH will get lucky.

WereWolfcub · 21/10/2018 13:57

Sea that yarn is Lucious

Mammy I’m going to take some inspiration and clean the inside of my windows in a minute. Good call.

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 14:01

It says on the back of the receipt :(

Off to google rustic bunting

LonelyOversharer · 21/10/2018 14:13

Finally cleaned the bathroom. Took 8 minutes. Seems I'm the only one that can do this too. And little boys miss the loo a lot.

Flip side, dp has just made scones.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 21/10/2018 14:15

Yes autumn it has a much smaller drum but you only use it for a few minutes so it's not a big deal.

I've failed to change the window handle, one of the screws won't loosen for me & if I continue trying I'll just round the head & it won't be possible to change it, unfortunately I'm not strong enough, debating getting at battery screwdriver or asking H to do it Angry will search for different screwdriver first though as one I was using had interchangeable heads so might not be as strong as one that hasn't.

Have new clotheslines installed & in use & made bacon, lentil, onion & sweet potato soup using chicken stock I'd frozen previously Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2018 14:43

Have you got any wd40 or spray oil Mammy ?

Our ndn has put her rotary line away for the winter and it’s lovely sunshine here 🙄

Cag Id send it back anyway? What are they going to do? Go to the “no original packaging” police? It’s not like they can re-use the item or the packaging & I bet it saves them a fucking fortune in not refunding people.

Dh goes to the post office & asks for special delivery post bags when he needs packaging, they give them out for free. Turn it inside out and pop the address on. Not sure to be proud or ashamed.

WreckTangled · 21/10/2018 14:50

It's 19 degrees here with a warm breeze. Perfect for drying washing.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 21/10/2018 15:09

Hello, you chatty lot!

Sea, I can't knit, but I love looking at yarn and those colours are lovely.

mammy, do you have a rubber band? If so, you put that over the screwdriver tip and then unscrew it, to provide a better grip. It doesn't always work, but may be worth a try if you don't have any WD40.

Fluffy, I didn't know that about the post office, I'm always sending bits to my DD1 in Scotland. Definitely be proud Smile

WreckTangled · 21/10/2018 15:13

Eugh. Our dw and washing machine's leaking. Dh has tried fixing it but can't. No way can we afford a plumber.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2018 15:46

Which bits leaking?

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2018 15:47

£4.17 in Aldi.

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 16:03

Oh bugger wreck :(

It’s the actual cardboard box the cable came in, rather than postage stuff (I bought in store)

Got a right grumpy baby today and as she was asleep we’ve not popped to the shop for milk yet.

I did finally sort out that awkwardly long cupboard though. Really quite pleased with it, all the club stuff is now in organised drawers and the Caglets can unpack their bags each night and repack for the next day. So no last minute wherethefuckarethetapshoes panic etc.

Also had a decent conversation with DH about setting up a better routine for the Caglets in the evenings. I realised what the issue was - I had always wanted to do the same thing each night, but that was setting myself up to fail as DH is only here 3 nights out of 4 (will be more soonish). So, DUH, what we actually need is two different routines 🤦‍♀️ one for the nights he’s here and we can divide and conquer with bedtime stories etc, and one for when he’s working late and I can not expect the impossible of myself.

WreckTangled · 21/10/2018 16:04

Well the dw and wm both run off the same cold water pipe and it's leaking where the hose joins to the Y connector. Dh bought another one but it's still leaking. He said he couldn't get the hose onto the connector (the new one I think?) at all so not sure what's up. I think once he's calmed down he will ask his boss about it tomorrow but he's really annoyed he couldn't fix it.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 21/10/2018 16:05

Another work day, it's not been too bad and haven't spent any money 😇

mammynowanauntyIRL · 21/10/2018 16:05

It's just screwed in too tightly for me to loosen fluffy
Curvy hadn't heard of that one
I'm having a lazy afternoon with dc anyhow, dinner today is roast turkey & ham from freezer so all I need to do is cook some potatoes for dc later Grin

I've washing on all lines outdoors, only thing I put in dryer was ds's duvet

mammynowanauntyIRL · 21/10/2018 16:07

Did you bake wreck
I was going to give wrinkly apples to hens but have decided stewed apples are a more frugal use of them.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 21/10/2018 16:09

I've decided too after Halloween to send text to all those extras that were on our Christmas present list saying that as our circumstances have changed this year I won't be doing the same & instead inviting them here for an evening of food & chat. Will do a big curry & lasagne/bolognese or something like that.

ememem84 · 21/10/2018 16:11

Dparents are back. Since coming home dad accused me of turning the heating on (haven’t - no idea how to), of losing a knife (haven’t), of being lazy and not getting my washing out of the machine (it literally finished as I was talking to Dm about their trip and he huffed and puffed about putting it on the line), I’m stupid for not checking the fridge (in the garage) for apples and oranges and went to buy more (true I didn’t check but it’s not like they’ll go to waste).

Oh and I have made disgusting food for dinner tonight and tomorrow. Bacon chicken macaroni cheese today with salad and sweet potato red kidney bean burgers with halloumi bacon guacamole and salsa and salad tomorrow.

Hes made a fuss. And doesn’t want either. I’ve suggested we get a takeaway pizza.

WreckTangled · 21/10/2018 16:24

Gosh em what a misery guts. You can cook for me anything 😁

Mammy I couldn't because dh has been huffing in the kitchen all day but I will tomorrow!

WereWolfcub · 21/10/2018 16:31

Jesus Em can you take ds and go out for the afternoon. I remember df and dm coming back from holiday once and I’d spent about six hours cleaning their house (my mother is a clean freak) and they yelled at me for not doing a thing and leaving the house filthy, I was an adult at the time!

Wreck is it a screw on pipe or push on with a jubilee clip to tighten?

WreckTangled · 21/10/2018 16:41

It's a screw one. Dh thinks it might be because he bought a cheap plastic one and a brass one might be better?

AutumnLeaves12 · 21/10/2018 16:51

That sounds hard Em. Take care there. x

We had quite a nice day. dparents came and played with ds. It makes such a difference having them here to play with him and he learns such a lot from just being with them. My dDad fired a bow and arrow with him in the garden and they had a lot of fun.

I was nervous as anything about the orchestra tonight, but realised that was what it was and worked at keeping my head on. Then it was cancelled anyway.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/10/2018 16:54

I was about to say try a brass connector 😀 plastic plumbing is a bit shit. We have it all over the house and every time something fails we buy a brass fitment to replace it.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 21/10/2018 16:56

Wreck, hope the dw and wm can get sorted.

mammy, it's mostly for when a screw has been rounded and I have used that method a couple of times and it worked.
And that sounds like a lovely thing to do at Christmas. If you spread the cost over the next couple of months, it won't feel too bad either.

em I would just take ds out and enjoy the sunshine, (is it sunny there?)

AutumnLeaves12 · 21/10/2018 16:59

My dh solves plumbing leaks by winding ptfe tape round the screw that is leaking and then putting the same thing back on. It always seems to work and might be cheaper than brass if you are really strapped at the moment.
