It's ok the brass one is only £4.

Got a pigs in blankets with our roast tonight 😋

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 17:51

Good lord em I’m now extra glad you have your own house to move into soon. Your food sounds epic BTW I could murder a Mac n cheese right now and the extras would make it even better.

We dashed to town at a tremendous pace and got milk and nappies and as promised a DVD to watch with DS (more Simpsons). Got the last bus up the hill (Sunday service) and bunged some stuff in the oven for dinner. Including some cauliflower that I couldn’t be bothered to steam 😂 I just tossed it in a little oil salt and pepper so we shall see.

WreckTangled · 21/10/2018 17:58

Roasted cauliflower is great cag

QuiteFabULousDahling · 21/10/2018 17:58

Sea that absolutely stunning and a lovely pattern .
Look forward to seeing your progress .
I think you were very restrained compared to me Blush
Lovely sunny day out, walked miles and nice lunch £34 for three .
As we walked back there was a box of quinces so I walked past saying nope Ive got enough to do .
DH looked at me and said I know you want some so I ran back Grin
Quince mash currently straining .
em has there been some drama between your DP ? -thats all very unkind and blaming .

LonelyOversharer · 21/10/2018 18:10

em how soon can you realistically move? Is your dad a bit off colour?

Bonding plaster is done. I'm quite pleased with myself. I hope it dries a bit soon. It's the warmest room in the house so it should. All the c/h pipes run under their floor. And we relocated a very large spider out of the window.

Dp is making the dc fish fingers and chips for tea. Bung your dad's tea my way please em sounds yum and I cba doing more than a slice of toast for me.

Nsd.

WereWolfcub · 21/10/2018 18:27

Ds is making dinner. Toad in the hole and garlic and herb roasted carrots, shallots and potatoes for tea. For all he’s a little sod he does make good Yorkers

ChristmasSeacow · 21/10/2018 18:33

I was quite restrained Quite but a. I still have a stash of lovely yarn I bought in Orkney and b. The really lovely stuff is blummin’ expensive! Those three skeins came to a pretty penny but I had the pattern I wanted to make so needed yarn for that Wink. I should finish my jumper first or my crochet blanket or my other scarf or my sock but I might just have to cast on!

So full after roast chicken, roasted root veggies and parmentier potatoes. Now need to tidy the kitchen - my eternal chore. I am letting DH have a head start while I supervise the children watching CBeebies . I do rather fancy a nap...

Sounds like you are making good progress lonely and I’m in awe of your practical skills, as ever!

Autumn I also do the ptfe tape trick. Something I learned to do in the lab with wonky water system connections and gas cylinder heads. So useful even in my civilian life

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 18:47

Ooooo. It was indeed yummy. Although DS is not convinced yet (because there are brown bits on it. He does love regular cauliflower) and baby seems to have entered the no longer happily eating everything phase. Dammit. But I thought it was yum.

WereWolfcub · 21/10/2018 18:50

Roast broccoli is lovely too Cag. Especially with garlic and chilli

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 18:52

Oooh. I did ponder chopping that up too actually. Next time!

AutumnLeaves12 · 21/10/2018 19:03

I love that kind of trick Christmas. Nice work. Smile

I'm attempting to learn arpeggios now, and all those funny words to do with speed of music, which in fact I have only heard used in the film "A room with a View" when the man wants the horse and trap to change speed. I have forgotten all of them.

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 19:47

OMG that episode of doctor who! I missed the beginning but was a bit tearful by the end.

(Also I love josh bowman so that’s an extra reason to watch it again)

mammynowanauntyIRL · 21/10/2018 20:10

Found a solid screwdriver & replaced my window handle Grin

That's not like your dad is it em

€1.20 for church collection was only spend today

Wolf well done to your ds

Dinner was defrosted roast turkey & ham & gravy, steam fresh veg, stuffing from freezer mixed with tub that came with DD's takeaway. Dd had similar & Ds had chicken curry from freezer all with homemade chips.

It's most unusual shopping now by price per pack instead of economy of scale as previously eg potatoes small bag of organic were best value for me this week as the bigger packs would be gone off before they'd be used!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 21/10/2018 20:25

Really enjoyed Dr Who too cag and a really good lesson for the DCs.
Lots of discussion after about segregation, civil and human rights.

ememem84 · 21/10/2018 21:01

We have removals on wednesday getting our stuff from storage. We will be in by Saturday. Phew.

It isn’t and is like ddad.

He’s been away with Dm to see dgrandma. The focus has rightly been on dgrandma (dm’s Dm). Ddad gets funny about it. And so has to do things to get attention back on him.

Rightly or wrongly I didn’t plate him up the mac and cheese. He said he didn’t want it. So he didn’t have it. He sulked. But was adamant that he didn’t want it. So I stopped offering.

We took ds out after dinner to see fil as it was his birthday. So got him out of the way for a bit.

Question. Can grown ups get hand foot and mouth? And does it initially present with little red bumps on hands?

WreckTangled · 21/10/2018 21:06

Yes they can em my sister had it a couple of years ago and said it was really painful on her hands. Ps I would have loved your dinner 😋

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 21:08

I assume they can, don’t see why not? Hope you’re ok.

I’m so annoyed, the nappies I got in Boots are supposedly the same size (normally get tesco) but they are freaking huge. Luckily I have some old ones left for overnight as there’s no way they’ll be leakproof

Cagliostro · 21/10/2018 21:09

And I think it was right to not offer the dinner to your dad. Did he get himself something in the end?

ememem84 · 21/10/2018 21:15

Oh bugger. I just googled it (I know I know dr Google...) but everything fits. My mouth ulcers, the blisters (like burns) on the back of my throat and roof of my mouth...red spots on hands. Not loads but enough to make me notice and think huh? Hm.

Dr google says self limiting, paracetamol and stay hydrated. So will work on that anyway. Even if it isn’t and it just a reaction to something/burnt my mouth/sore throat the above will help anyway.

I assume ddad had something to eat.

I have just splashed a fuckton of bonjella on my ulcer. Fuuhuuuuuhhk that hurt. No one warned me it would hurt. It appears to have helped though.

I’ve taken my aligners out. At least until the ulcer goes away. I’m meant to wear them 22 hours a day but I can’t. I just can’t. Too painful. So will wait for my mouth to heal and then throw them back in.

£19 M&S on fruit.

Em you really need a break, you must be so run down with moving out, buying stress, moving in and ds being poorly and I know from experience that it’s no picnic living with parents and you h and baby when moving between homes. Have you got any rest/time off planned for yourself?

I’m a firm believer that if people don’t like what you offer they can sort themselves out!

Bornlazy · 21/10/2018 21:48

em I was going to ask you if maybe your ds had HFM as I wondered about him having mouth ulcers and then you taking them too. You sound as though you are having a really stressful time so your system is probably quite low so that might explain why you've caught it. It sounds as though you are just the scapegoat for your df's annoyance.

WereWolfcub · 22/10/2018 06:06

Morning all happy frugal Monday everyone

mammynowanauntyIRL · 22/10/2018 06:15

Morning everyone today's going to be a NSD chez Mammy Smile
I've to leave in 45 mins but can't persuade myself to get out of bed Grin

lillylollylandy · 22/10/2018 07:32

Ouch em that sounds sore. Littlest had HFM here a few weeks back and it was awful, so you have my sympathies!

Today's the first day of half term. I've taken the day off to look after the children but I'm currently lying in bed with a cuppa and no children. My fabulous mum took them for a sleepover last night so that DH and I could have a date night. We made it to our local for two drinks, came home and collapsed on the sofa in front of the Avengers film. We're broken!

I need to get up soon as the cleaner is due at 8.30. Non frugal but the only way I can keep on top of the house with 3 kids and a dog.

Then I'm going to aim for ESD( Essentials only Spend Day) including birthday cards and gift wrap for DD1's 7th birthday tomorrow. I need to move some money around later to pay off my credit card. Plus meal plan. I hate meal planning.

Happy Monday everyone!

ChristmasSeacow · 22/10/2018 08:06

Half term here too. Dd is at nursery so it’s just me and DS. I’m going to take him on a train somewhere today and probably grab lunch. Not sure where to go - ideally some small town half an hour out of Stratford or Liverpool Street, and ideally with a Costa and even a book shop. Hmm. Thinking.

Enjoy your children, half-termers! Wink
