Sea it's these the only annoying thing is they don't have lids. We got a tv unit and a chest of drawers for the dc. I also got a bath mat. Dh has just managed to pull the paint off of the freshly painted wall. He's not happy.

lonely that's rubbish re the car.

life when dd turned 12 we had a major sort out of the toys and got rid of loads of stuff. The things she has kept are the soft toys, lego, some playmobil and some sullvainian family stuff. That's about it actually, she was ready to move on from a lot of the stuff, we had a ridiculous amount of craft type kits that were never going to get done!

Wolfcub · 01/09/2018 17:11

Life in our house it seems Lego, Nerf and Warhammer are the keepers. I can’t get him to get rid of the other stuff willingly so it will have to be snuck out

ememem84 · 01/09/2018 17:21

sea I know. Hence why I’m really hoping they have a king sized bed!!!! (If needs be we can get a divan/ottoman bed of space is an issue as ours is wooden framed and bigger.

Ds is still napping.

Bornlazy · 01/09/2018 17:27

Mammy my user name is apt most days Grin

life ds2 is 13 and still has some toys in his room not that he plays with them (they are under his bed) but I don't really know what to do with them. Had good intentions of selling some but never have...

Does anyone know if an instant pot is the same as an electric pressure cooker?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 01/09/2018 17:38

Sorry Delphi, we got back from shopping and I just cracked on.
Well I'm the most unfit person, short and fat, I'm still short and fat but a bit fitter.
I never dreamed that I would be able to jog for a full 30 mins, but I did. Never managed to do a whole 5k in that time though! But hoping to some day soon.
I found that the programme went at a pace that was just about do-able for me, my one bit of advice is, do not look ahead of the programme!
I've only done two runs in the last week and I am slowly building up again. (I've started from week 5)

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2018 17:46

Delph the c25k is great for starting running.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 01/09/2018 17:52

I started running this year and managed to get to a point where I could run for about 20 mins without stopping but have had to stop for a bit as my back/neck have been playing me up. It's a shame as felt I was just starting to make some progress 😔

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 01/09/2018 17:57

Oh Girlie, I'm sure once you have a plan of action everything will even out. Remember to take care of the YOU, who you are now Flowers

Justanothermile · 01/09/2018 17:57

Yes, I think the instant pot is an electric pressure cooker. The one I've got is also a rice cooker, slow cooker, sauté thing, steamer, yoghurt and soup maker. I've asked it to take DS to university in a few weeks, it probably does that as wellGrin

I hard boiled eggs in it this morning. Used the pressure cooker function and it didn't blow up!

Oh that's crap lonely about the car. Fucks sake.

wolf/girlie I found pre teens much harder than teens. Hormones, move to high school, friendship issues all in the mix. Dd was quite volatile for 18 months, like a large toddler with more attitude. I found both of mine haven't really concurred with the stereotypical teen, they are hugely pleasant individuals. It was the bit before hard that you guys are in that was worse.Smile

Thanks for the tip about spring bulbs. That might work, I want to plant fennel in there next year and that's sowed late April or early March. So I could clear the bed by then.

So all my chores are done apart from menu planning.

Spends
£2.50 animal print leggings from M&S, chuffed as I had a £10 promotion on my account and the Hush alternative are £££.
£40 new jumper and pleated culottes in dark grey for work.

We've also got a ball park figure for wood flooring upstairs. It's £££ as I knew it would be, but you only stick wood down once and it looks better as it gets older. Our downstairs looks fab now, limed oak ageing well. Will mull but DH wants to do it.

DS is busy making tea, home made pizza. He's busy roasting peppers and chopping stuff, grating cheese etc. I'm sat with a 🍷.

Justanothermile · 01/09/2018 18:00

I'm going to end up with loads of the Lego packet things from Sainsbury's. Any regular collecting is welcome to mine, I'll wait until after the promotion to post but just message. X

Justanothermile · 01/09/2018 18:01

seacow the random whining, screeching and sobbing aptly describes a pre-teenGrinGrin

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/09/2018 18:04

Brilliant. How long do insta pot hard boiled eggs take?.

Justanothermile · 01/09/2018 18:06

5 minutes using the method I used. There seems to be other methods but you've got to start somewhere.

Justanothermile · 01/09/2018 18:07

I'll be trying something Monday evening like a stew or similar so will report back then.

ememem84 · 01/09/2018 18:26

We’ve got an instant pot. Dh loves it. I sometimes wish he’d married it...! Jokes.

It can do a whole gammonham in about 20 minutes.

ChristmasSeacow · 01/09/2018 18:41

But JAM mine’s not even 6 yet! 😫

Btw, forgot to say a Christmas rose is a hellebore. They are perennials though so not ‘disposable’ if you are just wanting to pimp up a planter that you have other stuff in in the summer.

My spring bulbs that I planted last autumn, and which came up in spring, are coming up again now. I am very confused!

TakeItSlow · 01/09/2018 18:51

I really like bird feeders for the winter garden. They are much more colourful for all of the interesting birds on them. :-)

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 01/09/2018 18:51

christmas your garden is confused! I want to plant some snowdrops and frittilas bulbs (I really need to work on my plant names as my spelling is shocking!)

I borrowed my mums brand new Dyson v 10 hoover and am astounded at the difference, my carpets look a completely different colour 😰 I really want one now!!

SnugglySnerd · 01/09/2018 18:51

Welcome Delphini!

Good news on the mortgage Em.

Yes I think I will try to do that next year Wreck. I think I thought I'd be able to do it all in the evenings but underestimated how tired I'd be from looking after the dcs all day.

I'm deliberately not taking any notice of the instant pot talk or I shall want one and we don't have space!!

QuitelovesStrictly · 01/09/2018 19:15

Sits with Snuggly !

Have had the most blissful day out at a horsey event.
A lovely friend gave me their advanced tickets (£130) and refused point blank to accept the money .
Packed flasks and a lovely picnic ,used new picnic basket that I got in the sale last year.
Had some spends saved so got some Christmas presents and nice foody bits in the shopping area.
Met some friends and lolled about eating cake and drinking tea in the sun, watching horses Smile
Checked my app and we walked 8 miles.😎
DH has gone for fish and chips.
Out of budgeted/saved spends- £320 came home with me Smile

TakeItSlow · 01/09/2018 19:16

I don't want an instant pot either. I looked into them a year or two ago and stuck with my gas hob. I hope those who have them have a lot of fun though. Smile

ChristmasSeacow · 01/09/2018 20:10

You may have bumped into my DSis Quite Wink

Indeed Girlie! It’s either dwarf narcissi or grape hyacinths that are popping up. I’m not sure what to make of it, I will watch and wait!

I want to plant some snowdrops and tulips this year. I think tulips aren’t great at lasting year after year though. Hmm.

PILs are coming and raki g us out for lunch tomorrow. So Nice lunch and no cooking or driving -yay! But tidying the house first - boo! I have only just finished the last of the holiday unpacking but now I have Ikea shit everywhere Grin

WreckTangled · 01/09/2018 20:17

Tulips also get eaten by rabbits

Wolfcub · 01/09/2018 20:29

Watched the bats 🦇 fluttering about while bringing the washing in, I love my bats
