Ah “go the fuck to sleep” yes have heard that. So funny.

He woke up from nap. We had baked beans. And then went to M&S. He got so excited about bananas. £35.

ChristmasSeacow · 23/07/2018 16:42

Well, we are having a new roof box delivered tomorrow, any time (anytime delivery was £12.50, guaranteed morning delivery was £100 😮). So gawd knows when we’ll actually get to leave for our holiday. Assuming new box fits (it should! We’ve measured and measured) . If the worst comes to the worst we’ll leave a day later but DH is sulking at the idea of losing a day’s holiday. We’ll have to see.

I have been a sweaty mess all day. I’ve been rushing around doing urgent gardening jobs (couple of plants to put in that have been hanging around for too long already, some big shrubs to cut back, bindweed to spray etc). Removed DD’s fancy 360 car seat and put DS’s old one in for this trip (so we can get mum in the back when she joins us for a week). Hoovered and cleaned the inside of the car.

ChristmasSeacow · 23/07/2018 16:48

Oops, posted too soon!

Took DS to the Gp about his asthma (a pretty trying experience all round, he was quite agitated in the waiting room, they were running 30 mins late and we got lots of stares for his odd behaviour). And done 2 lots of washing. And argued with the roof box people to get them to take our box back ‘as new’ and apply a package price to the new box. This is not standard Angry. I am exhausted. Still haven’t really started proper packing. It’s going to be a late night and we might then just be sitting around tomorrow while we wait for our box, who knows?! If so I can sleep then!

Hoping I’ve at least lost a pound or two with all the running around. It’s in incredibly hot and humid here today.

I am completely confused about what day if the week it is too HmmGrin

ememem84 · 23/07/2018 16:49

We are nap refusing again. It is hot.

We are having chips on the beach for tea. It’s wedding anniversary so dinner out is a thing. May have a sea swim too as the tide will be just on its way out. High tide is about now I think.

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/07/2018 16:58

It's hot here too, and I checked and it's due to be 30+for the next four days. I'm battening down the hatches and making lots of ice cubes.

Good luck Christmas, it sounds pretty exciting there.

Flappy we're the same. Just bracing ourselves for a long boring period of not much going on. I just have the one dc and as he is now 8 we have long since run out of exciting things to say, for example "look a horse" and "oh my goodness, a duck" which worked out so well back in the day. My mission for the next 6 weeks is to avoid his being entirely consumed by a games console. I better go and work harder at that.

ememem84 · 23/07/2018 17:39

just unplug it sunny can you smell my naiveity at raising children

We are in the car waiting for dh. It is 26 degrees. Ooof. Ds refused to nap so I drove the long way to meet dh he’s now asleep. We have probably a 20 minute drive to meet up with everyone at the beach (traffic permitting) so he should get a decent nap at least. We left at 5...

LonelyOversharer · 23/07/2018 17:56

I always resorted to the car when I was at my wits end nap wise. I'd then park up, lock the doors and sleep myself! Especially with dd1. I've slept in every layby between here and Newcastle.

Work was good, but I forgot my lunch (£4.50 co-op) and have left my phone under my timesheets. I feel odd without ut, but dare say I will survive tonight. This muggy weather is making my brain foggy. It's drizzling here, but still so humid.

sea you'll love it up here, so much cooler! Wave as you pass us.

Now, my ds got all out of sorts when chicken pox went round nursery (he was about 3.5), but we never found a spot, so don't know if he's had it or not. He was just not quite himself for about a week. If a drop of calpol helped em he probably is a bit poorly, or teefs (now I say teefs!).

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/07/2018 18:05

Lonely I've also slept in multi-storey car parks. Glad that's over.

Em alas the computer game hours are my hours off. It's just how many of them I can give to myself. all of them

QuiteCleanBandit · 23/07/2018 18:24

Cycled home slowly and now sitting in the cool house with a face like a beetroot Blush or more like this Angry
Ive drunk so much water and it feels like it hasnt even touched the sides.
Awwwem BrewCake getting them to sleep in this weather when you feel knackered is the ultimate irony .
I can remember looking at them in disbelief because I could have slept standing up !
Mine dropped their naps at 2 -bam just like that Confused but slept 10/12 or even 14 hours (DD was ill) at night like little logs.
I always did a nice long cool bath with toys for hot grumps even if it was the second one of the day.
Mine didnt have inflatables/floats -absolutely banned for sea swimming here due to the risks of floating out to sea.

Summer hols -coped by making a nice breakfast ,pancakes etc
Then tidying up ,always leave the house tidy ,then out to the park, library ,swimming, etc lunch then crafty stuff, reading /friends.I had to break the day up but out at least once a day for sanity.

Wolfcub · 23/07/2018 18:38

Good evening from holiday. It’s been an up and down day with ds but based on the last couple of weeks is to be expected. Spends €4.50 on delicious ice cream and €28 on resort taxes. Refused to pay for a safety deposit box because it’s extortionate. Hope everyone is ok. Haven’t caught up on the thread but ds is playing games on his tablet on the hotel bar so I’m taking my chance to get online

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2018 18:38

Hat Small steps will get you there. Are you using the standing order trick to pay for the credit cards?. I hope your dh finds something soon.

NSD.

ememem84 · 23/07/2018 19:31

£4 on pop once I forced my lazy dd off the sofa.
Tried to donate but the charity was not accepting.i went to bin it right outside the door but dd wouldn't let me. Had to bike it back home.
Went the long way and half way dd needed a wee and is too old for grass wees apparently.

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/07/2018 20:07

Gosh it's so hot here, and even my actual temperature seems to be up. I've had a cold bath and am drinking water with ice cubes and still too hot.

Bandit I know just what you mean about the water not touching the side. Same here. I can't believe we have four days of this coming to us. Oh for a thunderstorm.

QuiteCleanBandit · 23/07/2018 20:30

Yes and Im cycling to work in it 😢😢😢Sunny
Thank goodness for showers at work!

SnugglySnerd · 23/07/2018 20:30

I'm worried that the school holidays will be long and boring too. Can't help thinking that as a teacher I should be more excited and less daunted about entertaining my own kids for a while! I think I struggle with it being the holidays but still getting up really early and not having any time to myself. I remember the days of tea and a book in bed, breakfast in front of the TV and then probably meeting a friend for lunch and a look round here shops or going to the cinema. This time it will be 5 am start, wiping breakfast off the walls to the background of CBeebies and trying to think of cheap activities that don't interfere with naps time! At least there's no marking for a few weeks Grin

WreckTangled · 23/07/2018 20:39

My dc have got sports day tomorrow Shock

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/07/2018 20:42

Does ds school do any activities over the hols sunny? We def need a list of go to activities over the hols, bike rides, swimming, cinema, national Trust, beach etc no games console here as I have never bought one!

We enjoyed the incredibles 2, £9 at the cinema which included a drink so def worth a 20 mins drive! Considered a macds post show but couldn't fine one so cooked tea instead - much more frugal 😉

Going to go to Lyme Regis tomos which will be hot hot hot 🌞🌞🌞

Cagliostro · 23/07/2018 20:55

We are hoping to come and stay in Lyme Regis again next year girlie

Not sure what we are doing over summer really, it's even less of a change than usual as we stopped the home ed stuff a few weeks back to focus on packing. And we still have loads to do so I expect much of the next six weeks will be unpacking and making the house our own, in particular we need to finish painting the fence which the kids loved! And there will be more furniture to build, as we need a few more bits.

Planning to hit the ground running in September though, home ed wise. DD is in year 7 now! Things will be very different.

ememem84 · 23/07/2018 21:02

Catface has forgiven me for this mornings vets ordeal. Back to padding my arm nicely.

Ds is in bed. He’s not asleep yet but he’s quiet at least!! Haha.

Fruit pots made for tomorrow (melon pineapple and grape), gym bag packed, outfit sorted.

Bedtime for me. New bed too! Yay for fresh bedding.

I’m drinking so so much water. But I still don’t feel cold. Apparently a trick is not to drink cold water. As in icy. But to drink room temp. Makes it easier to drink and less of a shock. I dunno though. Icy cold all the way at present.

QuiteCleanBandit · 23/07/2018 22:14

Ive had a bath and plastered my self in body lotion.
Now lying on the bed with fan on and the lotion makes it nice and cool.
Or spritzing with water.
Have you watered the DC before bedGrin
I have had lots of water em and lots of tea.
Chai is perfect hot weather tea .

CurlsandCurves · 23/07/2018 22:36

Bit of a spendy day here, DS1 compiled a wish list for his birthday and I got him some stuff from it up to what I’d budgeted for it. He’s asked for vouchers and money from everyone else so should be able to get everything he wants. It’s all clothes.

Did the weekly food shop, and came in over by about a tenner. But the boys are off school, and I also bought a couple of sun creams ready for our holidays.

Kept the boys up till about 10. There’s no point in trying to get them to sleep in this heat, it’s ridiculous. Going to bed myself now.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 23/07/2018 23:09

No wreck it isn't, last time I was here there were bargains to be had, exchange rate isn't great either atm. I got lots of bras for my money in m&s because of sale though.

Em ds was off form like that a week before the spots arrived, not for the week but for a day.

CremeEggThief · 23/07/2018 23:46

Have a great holiday, Wolf.Grin

Happy Anniversary, to Em and your DH.💑

£9 cinema for 2 is fantastic, Girlie.Smile

Spends: £3.65 milk and fruit at the Co-op; £28 for 4 weeks of Pilates; £4.40 bus home. Total: £36.05.

Thishatisnotmine · 24/07/2018 01:46

Ooooh, chips by the sea looks lovely.

I bought two birthday cards for my dad and a daysaver for the bus. Tomorrow my last £4 will go on a daysaver. Then Wednesday I will have money again!

What is the standing order way of paying a credit card? Pretty sure mine is DD. Will feel better when its on a 0% interest one.
