£48 Sainsbury's. The 25% off clothes is on

Snuggly, beach, various swing parks, any interactive museums near you, all with pic pic's obviously, IKEA had a good play area but might not be frugal.

SnugglySnerd · 22/05/2018 20:21

Yes had thought of Brum museum especially as that would also involve a bus or train ride for added excitement! Most things in Brum are £££ though eg Think tank. I think I might give Stratford or Warwick museums and try though.

Ikea is a good shout too as dd1 can go in the play area while the dts look round with me then I can go and have my free coffee while they have a snack. Added bonus that it's miles away so they will probably all fall asleep on the journey home!

LonelyOversharer · 22/05/2018 20:48

One left. Very nice, but spicy! We just shared a dish of these. Decided all our food groups were there, so didn't have rice or anything with them.

Hoping to get ds to bed at a good time tonight, for back to school tomorrow. His temp last spiked at 0230 this morning, but is otherwise completely well. A mystery.

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 20:51

Ok. So I’ve finally sat down. Phew.

Today’s spends. £73 (?!?!) in Mothercare. A couple of hoody’s, loads of shorts and joggers for ds and socks. And a Batman Tshirt.

£43 coop. Found Portuguese sparkling pineapple juice. Yum.

I went to the gym after work. Exhausted. Then walked from the gym to home. Dh picked ds up from nursery and caught me as I was almost home. I hopped in car and we went to the supermarket. Ds bloody loves being in the trolley.

Have sorted laundry and have pooped another load in to go on tomorrow.

Dinner was pasta with chorizo, spinach mushroom tomato and garlic sauce. Mmm.

Work was insane. Spent a lot of the day arguing about boat sales. And kyc documents. Ffs. Also a colleague is now off for holidays and things are coming out of the woodwork that haven’t been done. It’s only day 1 of their holiday!!! Ffs.

Early start tomorrow as have a breakfast seminar. Then dinner with dparents (as dh is out) and again breakfast seminar on Thursday and meeting Dfriend for a drink after work. Trying for nsd tomorrow.

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 20:56

My ds has had two glorious, historic days of school dinners and has come down with epic runs. Oh joy. I wonder if that's something that's going round?

CommonFishDiseases · 22/05/2018 20:57

Babysat friend's DC after school for 2 hours and she bought us freshly made curry dinner in return... that's one frugal win Grin

Laska5772 · 22/05/2018 20:59

Hello! I've not gone ,just have a lot on and frugaleering has been the last of things ive been doing . , its been a very spendy few weeks and more to come . Sadly DS didnt get the job he really thought he had , but no -came 2nd they say . He is pretty depressed, but, still trying, ill have to pay his rent etc for a while or he will lose the flat.. hopefully he will be back earning soon..

Other family stuff also going on Anyway all a bit stressful so i dip in and out for a bit if that ok.. I have been posting on some S&B threads but that all a bit 'fluffy' IYSWIM

Some good news: they have finally agreed my flexible retirement! im back losing weight 7lbs off sim two weeks and its our holiday in 4 more week so Ive been getting sorted for that ..

Anyway , ill pop back later on ..
Hope you all well .

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/05/2018 21:08

Sorry ds didn't get the job fluff. Hopefully he can get on with some agencies and get some temping.
Parents by any chance?
Come and see us when you can once you have bankrupted yourself in s&b. Grin

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 21:10

sunny oh no!!! Poor ds. Hopefully it’s just a one off and not a bug.

CremeEggThief · 22/05/2018 21:10

Good to 'see' you, Laska. 🙋

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/05/2018 21:11

common Excellent way of ensuring your child’s always welcome.

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 21:14

Thanks Em. I noticed his school friend was at the school gate looking distinctly peaky before 3pm pick up today so I was already freaking out in advance. Curse those pesky viruses.

Wolfcub · 22/05/2018 21:27

Sorry DS didn’t get the job laska, in my experience coming close second is really quite painful. I will continue to keep my fingers crossed for him and Life says we will be here once you’re ready to come back.

Ticket purchaser turned up so that’s good. I’m a bit sad as it was supposed to be my birthday date with H but I’m glad to get the money back.

Holiday company have emailed back to say the machine-says-no email was an error and the refund is being processed.
I’ve been keeping my eye on the holiday price to see if I can rebook and still take ds. Prices have dropped by a few 100 overnight which is good. With some reduction in holiday length and clever manipulation of dates I think I can just about afford to take him on the same holiday, I need to find about 700 to do it but think that might be possible if I am super super frugal. He desperately needs to eat away as do I. I could find a cheaper holiday elsewhere but this is a resort I know and feel safe and comfortable in and would be confident taking ds on my own. Will think some more on it and do some more price tracking over the next day or two. I would have to put the hol on my credit card until the refund cheque arrived and cleared and until pay day

Loveabaconsandwich · 22/05/2018 21:28

Oh no sunny. Not what DS needs. But did he enjoy staying for lunch again?

Sorry to hear DS didn’t get the job laska. Great news about the flexible retirement decision though

£5 reduced dinner from M&S
£31 Tesco

I’m just a tiny bit excited that i’ve arranged the fitting of the new carpet for the spare room/soon to be DD2s room on Thursday. I love the smell of new carpet. DP thinks i’m weird 🤷‍♀️

Bornlazy · 22/05/2018 21:31

NSD today. First one in a while...

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 21:46

Thanks Love, yes he did. He enjoyed the food and the experience so I think it's going well.

I kind of knew were likely to hit a sticky point when I saw his friend looking rough, as the friend's Mum had form for sending him back to school a bit too soon, and passing things on to us. Hoping it's not too bad whatever it is.

On the plus side, ds's attendance is 97%+ at the moment so if I have to confess to the gp then at least he can't say I'm being neurotic and keeping him off again, since this is actually the first time this year. can you hear me fighting the panic about calling he GP?.

Unescorted · 22/05/2018 21:54

wolf I was indignant on your behalf there. Glad it is a delay rather than an outright no.
Laska good to see you. Sad DS didn't get the job. Pleased the phased retirement is in the pipeline.
Em kyc is so important. Painful but important.
Lonely that shows restraint. Well done.

Today I have been on a training course about how to interview people. If you have a competency based interview let me know.... I have the inside line. I am quite worried that I won't make the right decision. It has so many implications for the person being interviewed.

NSD... First one for a while.

QuiteCleanBandit · 22/05/2018 22:03

Sunny if your DS has a tummy bug, unless he has another serious condition or is getting dehydrated, then it usually passes with rest, sips of rehydration solution or water and is self limiting.
No need to call the GP Smile

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 22:14

Bandit, Yeah I know that. It's just he had a lot of illness in his early school years and this is our first good year, so we are on a 3-line whip to call the GP every time he is off ill. That can be a bit stressful especially if I come down with the bug and have to deal with the ill child, the phone call and my own illness at the same time.

QuiteCleanBandit · 22/05/2018 22:19

Oh I see - aargh sounds stressful !

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 22:23

Thanks Smile But also maybe it will be fine. My GP has form for being sensible and helpful, so hopefully it will be fine.

ememem84 · 23/05/2018 06:42

unescorted yeah so painful. We’ve been told the buyer is very private but has “substantial means” which I had assumed otherwise he’d not have put the offer in....

WheelyCote · 23/05/2018 07:01

:)

ememem84 · 23/05/2018 07:10

Am up, dressed and ready for my seminar. there better be strong coffee

Feeling exhausted today. Ds cried a lot last night. Then when dh went in to see him he farted. Then carried on crying - turns out he’d pooped and it had come out. Ffs. So 3am nappy and full outfit change. Le tired.

Wearing a fave skirt today.

May Making Money Go Frugally Further
Wolfcub · 23/05/2018 07:31

Sunny I hope ds is ok today
Em that’s a lovely skirt, no sleep here either, I think it’s the weather
Love I love new carpet. Most of the carpet in our house is over 12 years old, has no underlay and was laid over dirty coal ridden floor boards (it was cream) so you can imagine how horrid it is. In the two rooms where we’ve put carpet down ourselves it is sooo much nicer
