Sorry, maybe that was more direct than I intended. My life was a bit shit when I first joined. Yours may be nicer than mine was.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 22/05/2018 07:37

Got one of my credit card bills yesterday with a payment date on it for May 19th, I received on May 21. I've it paid anyhow but this kind of thing annoys me.

smurf I hope today is a better day for you

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 07:41

My plan today is to go out at lunch and pop into Mothercare and then buy ds some stuff for age 9-12 and 12-18. They have a “we have to sell everything” type thing going on as they’re closing at the end of the month. So hopefully I can grab some stuff he needs. He needs 9-12 trousers. We have a ton of second hand Tshirts from my godmothers niece.

I’m gutted it’s closing but we can still order online although there is a £25 international delivery charge for us so would have to order loads to male it worth while

WreckTangled · 22/05/2018 07:57

I'm just cooking some bacon for a blt for lunch. Yum!

Should be a nsd too. Yesterday was a nsd wonder if I can go all week...

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 08:05

I left my lunch at home!!! Aaaah! So will have to buy. Buggerit.

WreckTangled · 22/05/2018 08:07

Actually I lie. I got fuel yesterday £30. Diesel has got so expensive again Angry

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 08:18

£25 is a very large delivery charge Em. Yikes!

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 08:33

I managed to be a bit frugal this week. I took my fiddle to the shop and the man said it was rubbish and wanted to sell me one for £400. But I borrowed one from a friend and made a new bridge for mine by copying my friend's bridge and now it is much better. Because I cut the bridge myself, I also saved £60 which is what it would have cost to have had it made for me. Now I have an almost working fiddle. I just need to buy a straight bow, as mine is bent.

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 08:56

Yep sunny but it’s because we’re classed as “international” sigh. I figure if I order enough stuff though and make the delivery cost worth it it’d be ok. However I’d have to probably order at least £150 worth of stuff. And I don’t think ds needs that much... but we’ll see.

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 08:56

I could in theory kit him out for the next year or two.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/05/2018 09:12

Free cocktail on checkout smart, possibly on clicksnap too.

SnugglySnerd · 22/05/2018 09:22

Sunny your hidden talents never cease to amaze me - you actually made a violin bridge? How?? They are so intricate! I know a good violin repairer btw if you ever need one but he's in Brum so might be a treck for you.
Still trying to catch up with the thread. Welcome newcomers.

LonelyOversharer · 22/05/2018 09:35

Ffs em thats so stupid, you're part of the uk. If you ever need just a couple of bits I'd be happy to send on if you got them delivered here. £2.95 for up to 2kg, as the Royal Mail deems you to be normal rates.

Have been to my storage unit, picked up some tyres to post. I'll give notice to be out end June. There is no way I can sort it for the end of may. Checked my plants, fed the animals, and now going to work until lunchtime.

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 11:54

lonely I know. So many places don’t deliver here (H&M I’m looking at you...)

Thanks for the offer but I have family in the mainland uk who can post on/bring over or what we used to do was do two trips to the uk a year (one to London and one to Exeter to see family) and do shopping there. Primark H&M Zara banana republic....

My friend is moving to Luxembourg soon and has suggested we meet in Liverpool in October as she wants a weekend shopping trip so I might pop over and fill a suitcase.

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 12:03

Thanks Snuggly, that's really kind of you to say so. I just went and blew my savings on a nice bow and now my fiddle plays so amazingly well. I'm really chuffed. I bought the fiddle with my pocket money when I was 15 and I wouldn't have liked to have replaced it. I may as well replace myself if I was going to do that. Smile

SnugglySnerd · 22/05/2018 12:51

I haven't played my violin for years, maybe I should dig it out. I think my bow cost more than my violin!!

LonelyOversharer · 22/05/2018 14:24

My fiddle was swapped for 200 cigarettes when my dad was in the navy before I was born! I only got to grade 3, but oddly insisted that my dc only play woodwind. Partly because theres no call for strings up north (brass bands only when I was a teen), and partly as small kids practicing makes my ears bleed.

Worked all morning (am trying to consistently put hours in), and we are off to the dentist in a bit. I know the tooth under my crown has gone. I am expecting it to have to come out. Hopefully won't need to spend any money, bar a bit of postage (covered as ebay). But, we shall see...

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 14:43

Good luck Lonely. I know what you mean about the fiddle. I only started at 15 so the screechy stage was a shorter.

That's great that you play too Snuggly. My bow cost more than my fiddle too, as of this morning. :-)

Wolfcub · 22/05/2018 17:52

Holiday company have been ass hats and have just sent an email saying no refund is due despite confirming last week that a full refund minus cancellation fee was due. I am hoping it’s a a computer error and have written to them but I will be escalating and taking legal advice if necessary. It would be nice if just one thing was straightforward. I am glad I followed up the verbal agreement last week with a confirmation email now I’d have been kicking myself if I hadn’t

Have they got a ceo you can email?.

£16 aldi. £11 food, £5 cat food and fab soft.

CremeEggThief · 22/05/2018 18:39

That's a pain, Wolf.

Spends: £8.85. £4.65 coffee and cake; £2.80 Aldi; £1 on multi-vitamins and 40p library reservation charge.

LonelyOversharer · 22/05/2018 18:41

wolf that is such a pain in the arse, that you do not need right now.

My tooth is coming out in June. Yay. I'm sick of the stupid thing. My dentist was impressed with how well (and how clean) dd1's teeth are doind. Agrees braces should be off soon.

Starving dc meant a quick trip in the huuuge Tescos, only spent £7. Alpro milks are on offer at £1 each atm if anyone drinks them. I am hooked on the coconut milk, but will not pay more than a quid for it, so haven't had any for a while. I could have easily filled a trolley walking from the doors to the bakery for dc snacks, and spend about £100 in 2 minutes. A year ago I would have done without thinking twice about it. Didn't even take a hand basket today.

They are having dippy eggs and chips for tea, dp is making us Cajun pakoras... using all sorts of leftover fridge stuff.

So a lsd at £7.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 22/05/2018 19:00

Intrigued lonely Cajun pakoras sound yummy

mammynowanauntyIRL · 22/05/2018 19:01

Alpro milks go on offer here 3 for €5 and usually last me until they're on offer again.

SnugglySnerd · 22/05/2018 19:32

NSD. Yay!
I'm starting to look ahead to the summer hols and plan a few days out in advance so I can think how to budget, plan picnics etc. I'm also going to stock up on cheap sticker books, books, charity shop toys etc for when it's all going wrong! This worked well last summer to occupy dd1 whilst dealing with the dts. Last summer was relatively easy though as they were either asleep or playing on their play mats for large parts of the day. Now they need entertaining too! Any suggestions or ideas welcome please!!
