Good luck exam people.
Welcome talk

mammynowanauntyIRL · 14/05/2018 08:11

christmas ds has joined me in my bed at 4.30am last two mornings cos he "can't sleep", then he wants to hug me face to face while he goes to sleep, I cannot do someone breathing in my face as I try to sleep. It was grand yesterday as I'd slept on couch for 3 hours evening before, not so good this morning because I'd to get up at 5.30 for work Angry plus he's nappy free but wetting the bed so I'd to get up and put some soakage under him in case he wet the bed too. Must buy a plastic sheet for my bed I suppose too.

life it's a workout Rachael Hepton has put up on group - 30 mins long, I've just watched it yet, body pump is definitely more advanced though.

Welcome 2018 and ThinkFastTalkSlow

WreckTangled · 14/05/2018 08:22

Welcome newbies

Today's spends are just £25 for ds' swimming lesson and that's it.

Taytocrisps · 14/05/2018 12:01

Morning. I did a good job clearing out my wardrobe yesterday. I've loads more space now. I'm giving the rejects a quick wash before they go to the charity shop. I found some flared trousers which must have been fashionable in the early to mid 2000s Blush. I must look out for some nice clothes hangers and get rid of all the mismatching ones.

I got a Tesco delivery today which was €73.84. That's cheap for a two week shop because I already had a fair bit of meat in the freezer. Also, DH will be away for a few days so I won't have to feed him.

Sorry to hear about the early risers.

Good luck to the junior frugaleers sitting exams.

Hello to all the new posters .

MissingMo · 14/05/2018 12:10

Hi all. Back on the frugal living. Dp has a new job and I'm back part time so income is improving but if we want to be achieving the 3 year plan we have to try hard to keep on track.
DD has changed routine now. Waking up before 7am but sleeping through the night with minimal waking. This means earlier starts but also frugal as went to the co op this morning and they had loads of things reduced! Asparagus 50p a pack, sugar snap peas 55p a pack, fresh sweet potato fries 98p and spinach 70p. Great for a healthy varied diet and DD will be happy. She's refusing anything on a spoon so finding finger foods for her. £14 in co op as bought some other bits as well.
Trying to only top up before payday the 26th. We have loads in so just the fresh and frequent stuff.
Sunny weather so will make the most of it. Lots of walks this week and will try and get the washing hung out. Contracts for utilities and insurance up for renewal this month so will research better deals.

Cagliostro · 14/05/2018 12:14

Ah thanks life it’s really just a case of having so much to do and no time or energy to do it 😳

northender · 14/05/2018 12:23

Thanks for the new thread wolf
Welcome newbies, lots of support here Smile
Take care Cag
Good luck to your dd unescorted and your's lonely.
Ds has his first exam tomorrow & then an even spread, four a week until mid June.
Unfortunately, I spent last night in Urgent Care with him as he has another eye infection. More antibiotics and antibiotic drops (I think these are his 6th course in as many months having never had any since he was a baby Sad & it has set his fatigue off again after feeling so much better just a week ago. I've managed to stay positive while with him but have been a blubbering wreck on & off all morning! It feels so unfair, what he's been through and we are doing what we can to support him but yet feel so helpless. He was hoping to get some paid work over the summer but we have told him we will give him some extra money in exchange for doing jobs around the house and for friends & family, but he just needs to rest and recuperate properly before starting college in September.
For my part, I'm off on leave this week so I can be around for him, so I'm planning healthy meals and making sure we've got lots of healthy snack foods in.
I made myself go to circuits this morning too which I really didn't feel like, but I'm glad I went. No spends yet, but later will be £3 for dd circuit class and dh is going to do an aldi shop.

LonelyOversharer · 14/05/2018 12:41

Went to Travis Perkins this morning... £87 later (ffs), but this is the timber to finish the fence (on going for 2 years) and two bags of mastercrete which we need, as concrete needed all over the place in the garden.

Then we went to my storage unit, took the 2 tub chairs to the tip, one had been moused, and to be completely honest I was never going to get round to recovering them. My box of colour-vary yarns is home and in my craft room under the desk. I have missed these yarns...all my favourites. But the box was at the bottom so could not get to it with the chairs there. Plus picked up the 3 baby seats to post.

I think I will give notice and get out of the box by the end of June (realistically). So with the orthadontics being paid for next month too, in July I will be £180/m better off.

savingin2018welltryingto · 14/05/2018 13:32

Thanks everyone for the kind welcome.

No spends for me today, but got a reminder through that we need to tax the car soon - £140, but luckily that's not until after pay day.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/05/2018 14:10

Oh no North, your poor DS must be feeling so sorry for himself. He’s really been in the wars Sad. I hope he has a good first exam, that will give him a boost.

Welcome back Mo, glad things are looking up. Our DD’s are the same age I think. Mine is also not very keen on spoon food. I’ve been combing recipe books this morning for new inspiration... I expect this will necessitate a bit of spending for batch cooking. Cottage pie tonight (she can shovel with her hands!) and I’ll try her on udon stir fry tomorrow.

DD is napping (unusual!); normally I run around like a loon doing housework but I’ve changed our bedding and now cba to do anything else. I’m watching Netflix and having a giant hm iced latte and a Wispa Gold

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/05/2018 14:18

I went to my GP to say that I can't find any vitamin D supplements that I can tolerate and he's given me a sort of vitamin D depth charge to take every day for three months. I think I might wait a while before trying that. OMG.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/05/2018 14:19

Ooh, and my car is due its MOT by 22nd but I called the service centre today (I have a prepaid service thingy that came with the car) and the earliest they can do the service and MOT is 23rd. Woman on the phone said it would be okay and I’d still be insured to drive the car there but I’m not sure Confused. It’s also a whole day appointment so I have paid £20 for a courtesy car. I have no idea how I’ll manage the pick up after school with DS - he’ll kick off horribly when his routine is disrupted. I’m going to have sleepless nights about that!

WreckTangled · 14/05/2018 14:45

Seacow pretty sure you can drive your at to the mot appointment and still be covered. Fluffy will know.

I'm so annoyed I've just ripped a hole in my favourite Zara jacket Sad I sat on a desk which had a pot of pencils on it and one of the pencils went straight through it

ememem84 · 14/05/2018 15:38

Today’s spends

£.80p bag of popcorn.

Bil and sil told us today that we’re going to be aunt and uncle again!!! Yay!! Dniece/nephew due in December. So they’ll have 2 under 2.

doleritedinosaur · 14/05/2018 15:46

Hi everyone I’d like to join please as trying to pay off debts to save up for a house.
I’m currently not working but volunteering in the role I would like to get into when I’m able to.
OH works full time & I supplement with surveys & testing items.

So far I’ve spent £9.25 on eBay for potty training bribery for toddler but I made £5 from VYPR app.

Hope everyone is getting the amount of sunshine we are, it’s gorgeous.

savingin2018welltryingto · 14/05/2018 17:11

No sunshine here Dino but we have all made it through Monday!

ememem84 · 14/05/2018 17:22

Sunshine here. Yippee! 🌞🌞

Dinner is peanut chicken rice and chilli broccoli. Mmmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/05/2018 17:34

Welcome dino. Have you looked at the matched betting threads? There in the money matters section.

99p eggs
19p bread.

ScarletPower · 14/05/2018 18:05

Hello all

I haven't posted for a while - I felt boring spamming you all with my money posts.

Anyway.....it's pay day tomorrow
March - overdraft was -£350.40
April - was -£299.33
May - today's figure is -£240.93

So I have paid off £109.47 in two months

I could have paid off more this month but we seemed to have massive overspends on food as I wasn't keeping track on spends.

I have 19.25 hours overtime in this month's wage (woo) so it's looking healthy. It is about £188 more than I normally get. It's sat in the bank anyway bringing down my overdraft so I'll try to reign in the spends this month and see if I can keep it there and not spend it.

LonelyOversharer · 14/05/2018 18:17

scarlet you can post whatever you want, thats the beauty of this thread. I'm sure we're all sick of the blow by blow account of my garden, but I still post it! Did your ds ever pay you back the £42?

Well I got my C1 back, full bill £600+. Got home and the back rear wheel (both brakes and tyre replaced) was basically on fire Shock dp doused it down, but it stank and smoked for ages. They came straight out and got the car. I hope it got back to the garage ok.

Went to tescos to get a sun hat for ds (trip tomorrow), and spent £40, as you do. Then the chicken food for the month, and bi-monthly ferret food, so another £40.

However, have made £86 on ebay today, all at £1 max selling fees, so I'm pleased with that. Plus it's about an archive box of stuff gone.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/05/2018 18:34

Scarlet But that’s the point of the thread. Well done reducing the od, it’s a hard pit to dig yourself out of.

ememem84 · 14/05/2018 19:01

Post as little or as often as you like scarlett

Found my missing necklace.

Now making gnarly peanut chicken and lunches for tomorrow. Woop.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/05/2018 19:10

£15 gel sun cream, £1 Tesco, £8 Sainsbury's. Stuff I forgot on my online shop
The house needs everything doing to it and I mean everything. Just going to cost it up and see but I think dh doesn't want to do that amount of work.

Post as much as your like scarlet, not boring
Hello new and returners
Ok cag, Always here to listen. Have you been offered a house yet?

Scales seen to be weighting today but will still get replacement ones as can't trust them now.

MeadowHay · 14/05/2018 19:38

Hi everyone.

Good luck to kids doing exams. I remember my GCSEs vividly...it was horrendous and my mental health was awful, I was so unwell.

And hope your DS recovers soon poor thing north. Sounds grim.

We are plodding away here. Baby is now finally head down and 1/5th engaged which has cheered me up as last week he/she was still transverse so that was making me panic a bit. Hopefully it will stay in the right position now Hmm. No appointment from the perinatal mental health team yet so my midwife made me see the GP today which was pointless because obviously the best people they would refer me to would be the perinatal mental health team anyway. Still he was nice although it was a waste of both our time really but I appreciate the midwife wanted to get me checked.

Paid the rent and now like halfway through my overdraft and I don't get paid until the 23rd. Sad

SnugglySnerd · 14/05/2018 19:47

Thanks Wolf and welcome to newcomers.

So sorry for your ds North, rotten timing.

Early risers here too. Bloody light mornings! Black out blinds haven't helped at all they are still up with the sun. It's hard to know what to dress them in for bed too as the house is warm now but will be cool by about 3 am.

NSD unless you count online food shop £67.67. The matching tens and units are pleasing even if the actual shopping bill isn't!
