Em a pikelet is a Yorkshire thing as far as I’m concerned bettyscookeryschool.co.uk/our-courses/1485/yorkshire-breads. Bottom left in the photo is what we know as a pikelet

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/05/2018 20:30

We had pikelets when I was little. It’s probably really bad for his self esteem to be wrong again though.

Smurfy Is this a temporary situation?.

Bornlazy · 21/05/2018 20:32

How is your mum feeling now em?

SnugglySnerd · 21/05/2018 20:37

Placemarking so I can catch up with you all!

ememem84 · 21/05/2018 20:38

wolf yep that’s a pikelet. I won’t tell dh. Obviously yorkshirians got them from New Zealand ....

Dm is feeling loads better. She’s eaten something today. Dry bland chicken. Toast. And some rice cooked in chicken stock. Phew.

Dh spent the afternoon with ds. Then went for a walk around the lanes and called me when I was on my walk home (managed my 12000 steps today because of the walk home!) they’d walked from our house to Waitrose and we met on the corner. Ds was wearing tshirt vest socks and nappy. No trousers!!!! He loves being no trousers! He was so excited to see me! They’d been to Waitrose for a pizza. And dh bought me a bottle of sipsmith gin. The guilt of mil arriving on Friday has started. Haha!

smurfy meant to add - its obligatory if you have a cat to post a pic.

This is my girl. I haven’t showed her off for ages.

Quick pop in from me. Em just wondering which reusable pads you bought? I'm going to try some but wanted a recommendation.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/05/2018 20:49

Hello newbies

Smurfy I agree don't wait for you sw contact the duty team. When was your care package reviewed last? Hope the bed bound is a temporary thing as you have a condition which gets better.

I lied before I spent £9.50 in boots at lunch.

ememem84 · 21/05/2018 20:51

These ones north I really rate them.

Whoever mentioned bookmarks here you've just made life so much easier fo me to keep up with you guys

Smurf your situation sounds truly terrible, would one of your friends make up a few meals or things like overnight oats & salads so that the help that comes only needs to get cutlery or heat up something for you? Can you feed yourself or do you need help with that? How are you managing for toilet? That sounds so degrading having to hide your pad like that from friends dh.

One of the things I don't argue with dc over is food. My dm did what she was told with regards to food with me and I've got issues with a few foods as a result but better than I was in my teens.

My week of 100% at team Rh resulted in a 3lb overall loss, hoping that my health will allow me to keep this up. Out walking now with Fitbit strapped to my ankle so that I can browse here too! Team RH costs me €4.18 a month depending on currency conversion on the day. life will understand what I'm on about!

Sunny don't do violin if you don't enjoy and enjoy concerts, ds and your dh might enjoy a bit of one to one time too

Em I'm not the slightest bit broody but your ds is fab Grin

My sis & bf of 4.5 years broke up this evening, she's 4.5 hours away Sad first relationship Sad

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/05/2018 21:22

Ikwym mammy and well done. Smashing it.
I had a weak end but I'm back on it today.

✊ Fist pumps mammy

ememem84 · 21/05/2018 21:36

He is rather isn’t he mammy love that little guy so much! I’m trying to teach him to wave both hands up in the air when he does something good. I do it and go “yaaaaaay” he thinks this is hilarious. So trying to get him to copy me.

When the vicar came round he said about how in church on Sunday we’re going to have to carry Ds from the front of the church to the back to the font and then back again. I looked at Dh and giggled. Vicar asked why. Explained that if anyone’s behind ds he’ll think they’re chasing him and will screech with laughter. I demonstrated to vicar. Asked him to follow me down the hallway As I carried ds... vicar thought it was funny. He’s so nice.

Outfit chosen for tomorrow. And am now in bed.

Unescorted · 21/05/2018 22:17

Hi new peeps. It rattles along here really quick. Smurfy that sounds really tough.
Wolf I hate it when people don't do what they say.
Em he is so cute..... Which reminds me we haven't had a gratuitous caglatini pic recently. Meadow I am looking forward to your too.
Lonely my vegetable beds are coming along nicely in this weather.... Even the mystery beans. I now have sprouting broccoli, chard, spinich and spicy lettuce mix to sow. I am going to hunt down some tomato plugs because I am too late to go from seed. I think I have missed strawberries. I must make a note to get fruit bushes in in the autumn. I fancy blueberries and raspberries (although they can take over).

Mammy I need to take a leaf out of your book. I need to exercise more.

I have the choice based patenting style... But I spell out the consequences of the choice. Would you like to go to bed now or stay up an extra half hour and tidy the kitchen. Amazingly they have yet to cotton on to this blatant manipulation.

MissingMo · 21/05/2018 22:17

Evening all. Just got back from a spa experience. It was an Xmas gift I finally got around to using. Friend drove and bought dinner as a thank you for taking her so it's a nsd! No plans tomorrow so hoping for another one tomorrow. Can't wait for payday Friday! Although contract with virgin has ended so have to pay an extra £17 a month now Angry

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 21/05/2018 22:24

I think its important for kids to see that us mums are important as well and that we do put ourselves first every now and then. I am not always very good at following my own advice though Wink

meadow i first applied for TC 12 years ago and the process was fairly straight forward then, it doesn't surprise me at all sadly that the Tories have made it much more difficult and complicated. They always used to want to know a predicted earnings for the financial year you are applying for iyswim. I think I had a similar situation to yours though and then at the end of my mat leave they ended up giving me a large sum as they had under paid me all year.

Ive had a busy day with work, catching up at home and nipping out to Aldi. Spent £22 ish this was on stuff for my dads bday as have the family coming to mine tomos for a little bday tea.

Dd seems excessively tired atm, hoping its just a growth spurt and she isn't coming down with something....

LonelyOversharer · 21/05/2018 22:28

unescorted b&q have lovely tomatoes in 9cm pots, £1.50 each. And tonnes of strawbs that will fruit this year. Mine are last years lidl ones and their babies.

Tonight I have done 2 hrs work, dog proofed the veg patch, made a little door for it, planted 4 courgettes, and had a bath. Tilly the ferret is so much better. Stopped oozing, and we will put her back out with the others tomorrow (still seperated in the cage for now though).

Another ebay sale, just a fiver, but two bottle cages away. Yay.

Unescorted · 21/05/2018 22:32

I will trundle by b&q...

LonelyOversharer · 21/05/2018 22:34

meadow can you call the tax credit people for help? I found the guy I talked to when I had registered self employed absolutely brilliant, he set my mind at rest as I had worked myself up thinking I was going to lose my credits.

And I've never had to send proof of earnings, I just fill in the boxes and send the form back each year. As all my hmrc accounts are linked (obv) I figured some cross checking was taking place?

smurfy2015 · 22/05/2018 01:12

I'l explain my health situation better tomorrow, it felt good getting it out of my system as im at blowing a fuse point but trying to remain calm.

Im OK for tonight, after the carers had been in, the friends husband called back to see if i needed anything as all other main friends who would regularly call in and out are away at (back later this week) the moment and he is the only one manning the forts. He is looking after 3 houses. So he went and got fish and chips and we discussed it.

Im going to flag up with duty person in the morning but then ring care manager and ask them to come and sort it out as they work for the same organisation as the sw, this evenings supposedly 20 min call was 11 mins until i was calling them back from having the front door open, given wash basket to stick wet stuff in as it happens and bin bag for incontience pads, im having incontinence up to 3/4 times a day atm.

i got a couple of dinners delivered tonight from butchers, so i know i have proper dinners tomorrow and wednesday,

i need to make sure they leave a drink beside me, checklists doesnt hold any water, as they wont look at them - they will only follow their chart

The esa form was due back tomorrow but got blindsided with me landing in hospital, rang to say it would be late, call handler refused to accept my excuse i could write it on my form when i sent it in late

The lady it went to today is going to work with me on it over the phone which will be exhausting but has to be done

1st thing in morning im putting an ad in local paper for cleaner / help

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 06:28

Thanks for all the thoughts on getting Mum-time alone and going out in the evenings. I'll have a ponder.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/05/2018 06:36

You definably need to flag that your are not getting your full call time. Also does sound like you need a care review as it's not meeting your needs.
You also have some fab friends who wouldn't be coming if they didn't care.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/05/2018 06:37

Where in the country are you smurfy

ememem84 · 22/05/2018 06:50

smurfy that’s awful. But glad you have friends who can help. I agree you should call and set things straight. No water? That’s shocking.

Ds is at nursery today. I’m meant to have a trainer session today but she hasn’t confirmed it. Annoyingly I only have an email address for her not a phone number. She said via e-mail “6 pm on Tuesday” so I assume today. But hasn’t come back to me. Ah!

QuiteCleanBandit · 22/05/2018 07:09

Popping in quickly -I think you said the CP had said DS was doing well Sunny Smile

It must be very hard but possibly giving yourself permission is the way forward.
Wouldnt he be tucked up in bed at that time anyway ?
Im running out of everything but resisting the twitch to go shopping prior to pay day which is tomorrow !
Hoping for a NSD Grin

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 07:21

Bandit Thanks yes, he is. I'll figure something out. Smile Thanks for thinking of me.

SunnyLikeThursday · 22/05/2018 07:26

Smurfy Welcome to the list. I'm glad you've joined and I think you will enjoy being with us. I was stuck in the house, though not in bed when I joined, and it fairly jollies the day along to have folks to talk to. Even when life is, frankly, a bit shit, as I can hear yours is just now. Is there any likelihood of your physical condition improving?

fwiw, I was housebound when I first joined and on Sunday I went to an evening orchestra performance, which was my first night out in 8 years, so their is certainly hope. Smile
