Now I am wondering if the 'I am not lonely' comment is twattish. Smile

Really am off now ha ha!

phoenixtherabbit · 24/03/2017 09:35

Interesting points, bernie.

I'm definitely not lonely, but my friends are in such different situations to me, that speaking about money to them is utterly pointless because their idea of skint is having only a couple of thousand in the bank, where my idea is being a couple of hundred in my overdraft each month.

That's why I decided to start posting here, because I want to be able to save and have a couple of thousand in the bank! But also, because the people on this thread seem to either be in a similar situation to me, or can give me advice on how to get started and so on and so on. I don't think it's always about being lonely or oversharing, it's sometimes just that you need someone who understands what you're talking about!

phoenixtherabbit · 24/03/2017 09:36

And need, you're absolutely not boasting!

Cagliostro · 24/03/2017 09:42

Thanks for clarifying bernie

Em and need thank you Thanks

Knitting I'm sorry you feel like that ((hug))

Yup everybody filters stuff but as need said people do that IRL too. If I didn't I'd derail the thread with even more self pitying whinges than I already do 😂😳 and no, I'm not totally honest about how bad my MH is usually because I like having a friendly place where I can leave some of my worries behind me.

There are only a couple of threads that keep me coming back to MN day after day. I'm not really lonely anymore as it happens because I have lots of friends now through home ed, but there were several years when I was (isolated young mum + undiagnosed autism) and MN was my outlet. TBH without people on this thread and the other long running one I'm on, I actually wouldn't have had the confidence to make those changes anyway - to figure out how to home ed and earn money, to put myself out there as a tutor, to get on and apply for financial/housing help, to get through the hideous process of losing my regular job to illness.

It just doesn't matter a jot that the people who helped me to do that are 'just' filtered words on a screen and not quite who they are IRL, or that they are from people who I may not even be particularly friends with if we met in person. It really doesn't matter. Supportive words and advice are valuable no matter who they come from. And this thread has it in heaps! :o Thanks

Interesting points bernie

Are you now joining us? Genuine question.

Anyway, some days I feel successful. Other days I feel like I'm basically the tea girl. But we all wear different hats in different parts of our lives and I'm ok with that

Yes, if I wasn't lonely I wouldn't post to a bunch of strangers. But actually I have learnt a lot from these girls/guys and for example would know a lot less about home ed, or MH, so actually this thread is mind broadening Star

I'm having a shit day month.

My son has a tooth injury from when he was 18 months old and we've been waiting to have it done once he was old enough to tolerate a dentist's drill.

Now (age nearly 7) it's started throbbing painfully so we took him to the dentist and ds was petrified of the drill and dentist couldn't do the filling. So I've rung the community dental hospital and they said they can probably see him sometime in about 5 weeks. WTF.

So now I am ringing private dental clinics all over and being told the the nearest one is London. Ya Gads. I haven't travelled that far in years.

Lovely dm finally was strong enough to talk briefly to me on the phone yesterday, nearly a month after going into hospital for hip replacement. She sounded knackered.

I've managed to gain 3lbs this week from being 2 stone underweight from stress after seeing lovely dietician. Big Win!

When does life get to be calm again!??

Thanks for listening. Frugalleers are so lovely to have around when things are stressful.

Bernie yes I am lonely. Where would we all be without each other to listen? Do join us if you would like to, but just change your name a lot to keep anonymity.

Beeneatingburnttoast · 24/03/2017 11:01

Money back offer on box of celebrations on ClickSnap and birds eye chicken on checkout smart

Pondering a name change, will come back reincarnated as something different from toast. So how does that work? Do you guys just have to work it out?

Beeneatingburnttoast · 24/03/2017 11:02

phoenix I feel your pain on the nursery fees. Even when there's a bank holiday, it is still a lot

Ipsomatic · 24/03/2017 11:13

I'm going to namechange in honour of Bernie. Here goes....

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/03/2017 11:17

...and it's done.

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/03/2017 11:18

I still like bread!

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/03/2017 11:30

Did you namechange too Bacon?

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/03/2017 11:40

Indeed I have.

Now I'm going to have bacon with toast for lunch. I feel the bacon consumption may now go up!

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/03/2017 11:44

Marv'llous. I love a good name change. It blows away all the cobwebs and gives a whole fresh start.

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/03/2017 12:05

I may reinvent myself as the next Richard Branson Grin

mammymammyIRL · 24/03/2017 12:16

Sunny & bacon delightful names changes.
I was at a friend's yesterday she has a new kitchen so I admired it, we can't afford to change ours so I've been around this morning changing the function of presses. I actually had two drawers of spare cutlery HmmShock well cutlery I don't like & I combined them into one. I think I will make more changes later. We installed an ikea press for shoes last Year for dc & it made a huge difference I wanted one for myself & dh too but couldn't find a place for it to go. Today I figured out I can lose a small press to make that fit in & make kitchen look way more tidy in the process!

SnugglySnerd · 24/03/2017 12:21

I'm trying to think of a name change too! Have been meaning to for a while.
I don't consider myself lonely, I joined this thread when I was struggling financially. I have received much good advice and I enjoy the chat too. Plus posting about spends helps me to curb my spending!

phoenixtherabbit · 24/03/2017 12:25

Well I have listed some outgrown baby stuff for sale, as well as the jumperoo.

People seem to have such luck selling baby clothes but I sold some on eBay and all I had was trouble and they went for pennies. Will stick to face book, gumtree and pre loved I think. Anywhere else I should be listing?!

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/03/2017 12:45

Mammy I love when Irish people talk about presses. Smile. My dh and MIL do that too.

mammymammyIRL · 24/03/2017 13:02

Cupboards ☀️
Would love to post a photo of where I am today but it would really out me. I'll just say the sea is sparkling as ds just put it! We're going to enjoy the beach for an hour before dd & her friend land in from school

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/03/2017 13:42

I had absolutely no idea what you were talking about mammay originally Blush.

Just been having a kitchen/dining room tidy myself. How do other people keep their children's artwork under control? I feel mean recycling it straight away but it causes such clutter and encourages more clutter too. Looking at it makes me stressed! I tried a box but then the box needed to get bigger and bigger

I need frugaleer help to not give in and say yes to something I know someone else wants me to agree to this afternoon. Can't say more as it is frugal to get such stuff for free! Not so frugal when you are the one giving it though. I've done so well to say no so far.

ememem84 · 24/03/2017 13:44

Nice clarification bernie I get what you mean.

So today I've been working. And have just taken my pack up lunch to the seaside. And sat for 40 minutes eating cold omelette and salad (yummm) by the sea. Nice to get out and get away from the office if only for a short time.

WreckTangled · 24/03/2017 14:12

I'm not lonely I just enjoy the chat.

Busy morning at work, quick lunch before getting the dc. The electrician fitting our heaters fixed our outside light for us which was nice as he didn't have to.

mammymammyIRL · 24/03/2017 14:15

We bought a couple of big frames in ikea fit 3 a4 sheets they have them in their rooms idea then is to change artwork & move on,
At a friend's house yesterday she had a washing line on the wall with clothes pegs & artwork on pegs on that.
I think I'll do this in playroom

mammymammyIRL · 24/03/2017 14:16

Wreck have you reported the lino damage yet?
