Snuggly you've had a narrow escape - i'm a feeder Grin

I don't have any photogenic pets (just DS's fish) so here's my magnolia tree for a bit of spring joy.

WreckTangled · 23/03/2017 16:21

I love Guinea pigs!

Frugal win: vax are sending me a new Hoover will be 3-5 days though.

Nsd successful

Ds ripped a hole in his trousers in the knee.

I've prepped all of dinner in the hope Dh will be home before me. Off to swimming

CremeEggThief · 23/03/2017 16:21

Beautiful plants and guinea pigs, Seacow and Meadow. I could do with some of your cake as well, Seacow. Lots of people find baking very therapeutic, but it's too messy and sensory for me. It's damp things that I struggle with.

Welcome Joff, hope you enjoy our thread.Brew

I've actually managed and NSD.Halo

CremeEggThief · 23/03/2017 16:22

The Halo is to show certain lurkers just how pleased I am with myself!GrinWink

MeadowHay · 23/03/2017 16:31

Hahaha Creme Grin. Yes I struggle with damp things and anything squidgy and sloppy or very smelly ugh the list goes on so there's very little washing up I can do, even with rubber gloves on. I accidentally got nuttella on my finger the other day making DH's packed lunch for work and yelped like an injured dog Blush. Bleurghhh.

Welcome Joff! Good luck with your housing ambitions, it's exciting that you will own your own home soon!

CremeEggThief · 23/03/2017 16:37

Eek Meadow That's exactly the sort of thing I loathe. As long as I have rubeer gloves, I'm okay with washing up or cleaning the bathroom. I can't do anything 'damp' or what I perceive as 'dirty' without them; even something like picking up a used knife that's accidently fallen in the sink. Yuk!

CremeEggThief · 23/03/2017 16:38

rubber*

Beeneatingburnttoast · 23/03/2017 16:44

Day off by myself today. Didn't do much and felt a bit lonely this afternoon Hmm. Weird I really look forward to the time by myself too.

Defrosted meat in a casserole for tea so frugal. Hopefully lamb although looked a bit like old goat when I got it out

Bargain dressing up dress £2.49 from Argos
Mother's Day gifts for my mum £19
£2 in Tesco on a pie and some mini eggs

SnugglySnerd · 23/03/2017 16:50

NSD here too. I have a banging headache. Dreading the thought of another sleepless night. Have had paracetamol and ibuprofen they haven't touched it.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 23/03/2017 16:56

Welcome joff nice new frugalers always welcome!

Blew it big time in lidl of all places. Was dead good in Sainsburys, noses, coffee beans, few other bits £19, then stopped at lidl for some fruit, and accidentally bought a waffle maker with interchangable plates so very excited Disclaimer: I already own a round heart shape waffle maker and a waffle cone machine.
£38 in lidl.

Then £8 on a pair of charity shop jeans for dd1 textiles "recycle" project (have about 20 pairs locked in the shop hoarder but she needs them tomorrow, and gave me no notice, sigh).

I have a box of vinyl gloves that I wear for all things dirty, but am a hand washer, so washing up is good, the hotter the water the better.

I am going to put £40 in a coin purse and leave my debit card at home until april. Am sick of 'just popping' to the supermarket.

Joffmognum · 23/03/2017 17:10

Thanks for the welcome knitting and meadow

I've found an old box of Turkish delight from Christmas, and some raspberry gin I bought in January and forgot about mothers day sorted for free

mammymammyIRL · 23/03/2017 17:19

Love the pigs dog & spring garden
Meadow they're not related but seem to have become good pals.

Been to a friend's today who made lunch for me. Dd hadn't finished her lunch so she ate that & ds had eaten at school.

Been to town for dds class & ds got a haircut & was really good €16 - €12 haircut €2 tip €2 tractor ride at shopping centre for being a good boy

PolkadotPony · 23/03/2017 17:40

Hello 😊

I'm still being frugal, I've just returned to college this week and life has been hard/busy. I've been taking a packed lunch which has been fine, I had a nice quorn and salad wrap today. I also qualified in ear piercing this week, that was exciting. My parents said no to buying the ear piercing kit at the moment, they felt that with the school shoes and the train to my sisters, that is enough expenditure and they need to see a pattern emerge yet. I happily agreed and was told it could be reviewed in the future which I'm happy with.

I've only spent my necessary bills money this week. Dc shoes trip on Saturday, exH is paying for two of the four pairs so that's really great of him.

Struggling a bit really, return to work tomorrow, have many assessments at college to complete yet, the usual single parent four children thing, money things, and I no longer have my wonderful boyfriend in my life. 😟 so that's been a bit hard.

I hope you're all well, and hello to the newcomers 😊

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/03/2017 17:59

Welcome joff

Meadow should you wish to bake either stay with a chocolate cake in a mug or a Mary berry all in one sponge.

Sorry it didn't work with your boyfriend polka.

Lovely photos

£34 in Morrison's but the fridge was bare.

I'd that's my weakness. Walking near a shop and buying for the sake of it. It must stop if I'm going to achieve plan a

Sorry to hear it has been a tough week polka FlowersCakeBrew

Welcome joff. I'm trying to do a bit of regifting where possible although it's mainly stuff which would be suitable for the person who gave it to us originally. Which I obviously wouldn't do! Grin

Ipsomatic · 23/03/2017 18:03

Sorry to hear that Polka. That's a bit of a watershed isn't it? Take care there, and give yourself a bit of time.

I've had a good sort of week this week in a weird way. A lot has been weighing on me recently but I have a friend at the school gate who has all the same stuff going on. We had a proper chat about it all yesterday for the first time and it felt good, and she said it helped her too. Cost nothing too, which was nice.

PolkadotPony · 23/03/2017 18:31

Talking always helps, especially if someone is going through similar or has experience, you can gain strength from that.

Yes it is a huge shame, I am rather upset but soldiering on through tears. There's no other choice.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/03/2017 18:34

Hello all, thanks for the support re work, its definitely the worst I have ever known it atm Sad I didn't get to all my visits today so even thought i saw ten patients i am left feeling guilty about the one I didn't get to Sad

I know what you all mean about forgetting this is a public thread at times, I def give way too much personal info away on this thread Blush but not sure anyone would care enough for it to be a problem Grin that troll ystd clearly had their own axe to grind.

Have managed a NSD but dd is desperate for a red nose so going to have to pop out later for one.

Snuggly you are doing so well Star Star is the dd2 catching up weight wise with her brother now? I know twins must be a lot of work but I am a teeny bit jealous, i just love the thought of having twins!! Hope your head feels better soon.

Em bump touching without asking if its o.kay is not o.kay imo.

Polka sorry it didn't work out with your bf, be kind to yourself - you are doing really well and being a single mum to one is hard work so can only imagine what its like with four of them Shock Grin

SnugglySnerd · 23/03/2017 19:06

Polka Flowers

She's still tiny, Girlie and her bro just inhales milk so he's got even bigger, he looks like he could eat her! She's feeding better now though. Next weigh-in on Monday.

ememem84 · 23/03/2017 19:08

HEllo!!! Busy busy day here will catch up later.

Also a spendy one.

£65 in jo Malone on some perfume and body wash for dm for Mother's Day. She is an absolute legend so totally deserves this (and I got some samples for me!!)

£26 in boots on folic acid and a clarins version of touché eclat pen as mine has about a days use left.

Dh making Spanish omelette and salad for dinner.

Berniestavern · 23/03/2017 19:35

I didn't see the comments made yesterday but I did want to point out to you guys that this is a very public forum and people are reading your posts. I have read this thread on and off for the past week (I am bored in a place where there is not much to do) and I am a bit Shock sometimes about how much you share, but also how much of yourselves you reveal to a group of strangers (albeit 'friendly' ones) on the Internet and how frequently you do it.

Isuppose you must be comfortable with it or you wouldn't do it. I never post but read a lot and am posting for about the third time in my life as I feel strongly about this and your reactions to a troll indicated surprise that others are out here judging you.

Your personalities become quite clear and sometimes I have to admit it's uncomfortable reading, a few of you boasting by 'stealth' (sorry but you are) and others come across as less successful/ accomplished with really tricky MH problems. It's all an illusion though! Fully expect this post to be deleted because you won't like it but I think I am entitled to post here. I accept there are many of these group threads here.

northender · 23/03/2017 19:37

Work is bad here too girlie. We keep getting more and more demand for our service & everyone loves our service, but extra investment, more staff? Not a chance! So we end up feeling so inadequate because we can't do our best for everyone.
Missed the trolling yesterday, are we really that interesting?? Fwiw I don't think it's competitive at all on here. It keeps me motivated from a frugal point of view and has been incredibly supportive through the incredibly tough time I had last year. We all have our ups and downs & sometimes hearing a different perspective on what you're going through is just what you need.

Tough workout this morning but it's definitely working, I'm down past my first mini goal weight wise. Still a long, long way to go but moving in the right direction.
Spent the rest of the day helping mum with some cleaning. She's 78 this year, has quite severe lung disease, has had a rubbish winter & has to put up with my dad so most definitely deserves some help! She is always positive & optimistic despite lifelong health issues and nearly 50 years living with dad. She is a real inspiration to me.

CollieCaptain · 23/03/2017 19:40

Confused at Bernie

I popped by to say congrats to snuggly as I only just realised you've had your baby twins! FlowersBrewCake so happy for you!

I think I need to be a frugaleering again as bloody Cornish bus fares are actually crippling us financially! But it's worth it as it means freedom!

Had to do a weekly shop for £45 this week though! That was scary. At least we had loads of stuff in the cupboard. The £45 included nappies too.

mammymammyIRL · 23/03/2017 19:41

Berniestavern
thanks for taking the time to post. I know you said you only have posted a few times but you would get a lot more fulfilment from mumsnet if you contributed to threads that interest you.

I don't think anyone posts by stealth but I also accept that you the same as anyone are entitled to your opinion.
