DS is really into knights and castles so we went to a local castle (free entry) and bought some little bits from the shop for his stocking. Only spent about £4 though. On a knights cup, knights magnet and a bag of marbles (he is obsessed with marble runs and marble run videos on YouTube!)

Didn't have hot chocs out as planned though.

My boots arrived and they are gorgeous!

wreck go for it!

cag I have an account somewhere in my maiden name which I haven't checked for about 20 years. It only had about £20 in it at the time. I need to try and cash in my £20 Grin

ememem84 · 26/11/2016 18:55

Spent the afternoon looking at old photos.

Found this. My great grandparents on their wedding day. Which was probably early 1900's.

£11 spends on tonic water, Sauvignon plans and two lottery tickets.

I'm exhausted even though we've done very little all day. You all sound like you've had busy, productive days. I managed to drag myself out to return a library book only to discover that it was due back last week and I had to pay number £2.40 fine, so frugal fail.
It's been a spendier weekend than I'd expected so far. £20 on last night's takeaway but there is enough left over for dinner tonight, £40 on Xmas gifts for all our parents (lovely photos of DD, still need to get frames but can get cheap ones), £21 in Aldi and DH ordered his Xmas turkey and had to pay a £10 deposit.
I'm already planning for some serious frugalling in the new year!

Tryingtosaveup · 26/11/2016 19:26

Busy day here too. Working all day a long way away from home, but will get well paid so it will go towards my bathroom fund.
NSD so that was good.

ememem84 · 26/11/2016 19:28

In 2017 I am. It buying any more make up. Unless I run out of something. Same with beauty products.

I will Not but any clothes unless necessary.

I'll have to stick up now!

Cagliostro · 26/11/2016 20:03

Aw what a lovely photo! :)

I've been planning the last few Christmas things. I've said to DH I'd like it all to be done before December 1st - doing most online anyway so shouldn't be an issue. Seeing my parents on my birthday early next month and will collect a few things then and give them their gifts, so need to wrap them early. Will be weird going back to having Christmas day just us four!

Any thoughts on what to get a 23 year old woman? Even her boyfriend (my DSS) hasn't got any ideas this year :o

ememem84 · 26/11/2016 20:06

cag make up. Urban decay naked pallet. Depending on budget. You can get them on feel unique. And they do cashback.

CremeEggThief · 26/11/2016 20:06

Stunning photo, Em. How lovely to have it.

Spends: £14.25 cinema tickets (on card) and £10.20 café. We went to see "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". Well worth a cinema trip, although not as good as the Harry Potter films.

WreckTangled · 26/11/2016 20:23

Would anyone do a groupon deal for clear braces? Like this

ememem84 · 26/11/2016 20:29

wreck I'm saving for braces (as well as Argentina a pony and a house and a baby).

I'd do it. If it boosts your confidence (it would do mine) I'd do it. My dentist says I'd have to wear them for 18 months fixed braces or 3 years as a retainer.

AdoraBell · 26/11/2016 21:37

Ooh em do you have actual plans for Argentina?

Agree, Urban Decay make up Cag

I've bought another pair of boots, shoe Web site, my phone is play Proper Grammar and won't allow the name Hmm £89

ememem84 · 26/11/2016 21:58

adora sadly no. The general plan is fly to. Buenos Aires. Eat steak. Drink Malbec. Travel to gaucho country. Learn to ride like a gaucho. Drink Malbec. Learn Argentine tango.watch polo. Eat steak. Travel to Ushuaia. Get the boat to Antarctica. See penguin. Eat steak drink Malbec. Fly home.

You lived in South America if u remember correctly?

It's a dream. The more I think about it the more unrealistic it becomes. I want more important things. Lovely house - a home. A family. That to me is more important than a trip. Although we have said if we have kids then once they are 18 we are buggering off on a grown up gap year.

I'm sad to hear Fidel Castro has died. Have been wanting to visit Cuba for a while. Was told to go before Castro pegged it. Before changes started. I'll never see "old" Cuba now. Sad

Hey ho.

I've had a bit of wine this evening. I may have missed my glass and ended up pouring a glass full on the floor. Sad face. Dh has sent me to bed.

Ive asked dm for a cheeseboard for Christmas. We don't have one. I'm appalled to think we've gone this long without one. Shock

Am going to feel hungover as f tomorrow.

cag id either go urban decay basics or naked 2. Depending on your price range. They are pricey pallets. But are lovely looking. And will last years. I've had naked 2 for 2 years and despite daily wear am only just hitting pan on my two fave shades.

AdoraBell · 26/11/2016 22:15

Yes, we lived in Chile, and I'm home sick! Your plan sounds fabulous, I really hope you get the chance to do it.

Cheese board sounds good. DH has a glass one I bought him but we have yet to find it since moving.

Tryingtosaveup · 26/11/2016 22:22

GB Energy just gone out of business. I have my electricity with them. Think Fluffy does as well.
Trying to decide whether to panic. Think I will. Might as well.

Cagliostro · 26/11/2016 23:04

Oh no Trying! :(

I meant to say, I was going to avoid make up, partly because we can't afford anything good :o (much much lower budget this year although it is her birthday soon too) although I will look and see if there's anything small we could get from there! She worked for until very recently and DSS still works for similar, so I generally avoid that kind of stuff as it feels a bit pointless if that makes sense!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/11/2016 00:05

Cag Jewellery? Or a nice scarf? Some posh shampoo and conditioner? My brother bought me some for my bday which i was really pleased with as its the sort of thing I would never buy myself but will absolutely love to use!

Am just back from a lovely evening out with my best friends, am very lucky that my 3 best friends who I have known for 25 years Shock all live quite locally. We don't get together as much as we should so its really nice when we do. Went to the Chinese all you can eat place, was lovely and am stuffed cost £20.

Tomorrow will be a quiet day, dd is at my mums for the night so will meet them in the morning to collect her and plan for the rest of the day to not do a lot!

CremeEggThief · 27/11/2016 00:42

Glad you had a great time, Girlie.Smile

WreckTangled · 27/11/2016 07:13

Cag yes to a scarf! I love scarfs. Dorothy Perkins have some lovely ones for £12 although I got one on Amazon Black Friday a bit cheaper.

Should be nsd today. Dh is working and I'm going to a friends to make goat horns...

Needastrongone · 27/11/2016 07:32

I would steer clear of make up, it's such a personal thing. There are however some great cheap brands out there. I don't buy any makeup for DD and she can't afford the likes or Mac etc but manages to ferret out some lovely stuff on a shoestring.

I bought a lovely scarf from Joules for £12 for DMIL but Amazon do indeed do some amazing ones for just a few quid.

Warm fluffy socks, or a pair of Primark PJ's? Everyone loves Primark fleecy PJ's!

Lovely evening with friends last night at ours, however one is almost full time carer for her DM and the other recovering from cancer so not late at all. But good to relax.

Glad yours was lovely Girlie.

Few quid for a XC race today but that should be it for spending.

WreckTangled · 27/11/2016 07:36

This is the one I got

Needastrongone · 27/11/2016 07:37

Em You ought to be able to stay on! Riding is from the seat and core, not yanking the reins and booting to pony. Or strong bits or 'aids' to make the pony behave, or crops or... don't get me started. Smile A large portion of riding I see is dreadful. Our discipline is only allowed to ride using a snaffle, I cringe when I see others sometimes, poor bloody animals.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/11/2016 07:53

I got a navy, sparkly scarf for about £2 from Amazon. Will see if I can find it.
£50 on a meal out last night with friends
Polar express tonight so no doubt expensive
Go for the braces. I had a friend who did it and never looked back
That photo is lovely

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/11/2016 07:55

Grin em appalled at no cheese board.
We don't have one. They do look lovely

Wildernesstips · 27/11/2016 07:58

Have been very unfrugal with lots of Christmas shopping so have stayed away from here for a couple of days. Nearly finished now though.

Am returning the ankle boots I bought - they are gorgeous but don't fit - I have come to the conclusion that I have funny feet!

Made a lovely chilli in the slow cooker yesterday and there are four portions leftover to freeze.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/11/2016 08:00

Trying, yep. I'm going to switch today.
